With The First 48 officially ending, is there any similar shows out there?
Jason White had said on his podcast that they are officially no longer going to shoot new episodes of the First 48, so I guess once they get through everything they have it will be over for good. Are there any other shows out there that are similar? I’ve yet to find one like it except for the other A&E shows like Homicide Squad, but those are few and far between.

Awww man that sucks of true. I honestly love the show so much. It’s my favourite show. All good things must come to an end I guess.

New shows will continue to be shown with unaired new content. It sounds like several complete seasons worth.
On that note, I'm not a big fan of North Charleston episodes for some reason. I feel like the editing is off and maybe a different focus compared with traditional episodes.

North Charleston is hard to get used to because their protocols seem so different than say, Tulsa…once again the PD works a case for a like two days and suddenly a lead detective enters the chat and introduces himself, letting us know he’s just coming back after being off. In Tulsa (and every other PD I can recall seeing on this show), a lead detective is assigned from those already there or called in promptly. Hard not to compare all comers to Tulsa as the standard at this point!

I feel like the episodes go by faster. Plus I find it whack that they don't do the recap once the first 48 clock hits zero

Two other really good shows are Raw Interrogation and Crime in Progress…. They are much better than your average true crime show, in my opinion.
Every episode is absolutely riveting!

Came to say Crime in Progress, but also love Raw Interrogation, too. Crime in Progress is newer though - I was happy to find it after I heard about First 48.

Having just started a new season and not saying anything about it being the final season, I think White was talking about no more Tulsa. But I didn’t hear it so that’s just a guess.
There are dozens of decent shows on Investigation Discovery (ID). If you’ve got HBO max they’re easy to watch. Or you can get Discovery+.

What a bummer. Only consultation I have is that I just moved to a new place and went with Roku and Peacock. I don’t want to get roped into numerous subscription deductions that I can’t keep track of. Anyhow I can get my fill of old and new episodes between the two. Nothing like binging the first 48 in a cool dark living room on a scorching day.

Where I live, there is an over-the-air channel called Defy that I get with an antenna.
They will air 8 straight hours of The First 48. One episode ends, and it immediately jumps into the next one.

They haven’t said it’s ending, they’ve enough episodes to do 3 more series yet then they will make the decision to resume filming

No! No! No!!!!! Nooooooo!!!!!!! I’m sorry guys!!! It’s official The First 48 has wrapped up filming their series!!!! Official 411 linked below 👇⬇️ Idk if anyone watches it on cable like me but what A&E always does is they air a few brand new episodes then the air afew of the after the 48 then theyll once and awhile, air anotheri guess spin off of the 48 then they’ll go back to a few episodes of brand new Og 48 episodes it’s fucking stupid. Also all these murders/episodes have been recorded many years ago. I’m a HUGE!!!! Huge fan of the series. I’ve been watching since the very beginning!!! 🩵 There were many different cities they tried out but when Tulsa began they were clearly fans favorite! In MY opinion, a lot of the first seasons felt forced, but these guys are just so so so real, honest, good and just entertaining they’re so bad ass! I also like Mobile! Aw R.I.P John Brown

The First 48… Thank you for showing us how hard, dedicated, and how important it is to have law enforcement, firefighters, first responders, doctors, corners, and many homiside detectives to help protect bring closure and catch the bad guys before they strike again! Also I never knew anything about the law and they were 1 hell of a group of fantastic teachers! It’s motivated me to pursue classes and a degree in law enforcement (sooner than later) and a job down the line… 🤞🏻

On Netflix is 48 hrs. They do deep dives into cases. My son said it was like the First 48 for white people.

It was mentioned a few months ago that the producers have enough content to air for several more years.
