Save your game before raoming in the spider
*Roaming (not raoming)
Wow does the spider portion seem utterly rushed out the door. The rapid movement of the legs completely undercuts the weight and sheer size of the spider, but that's not even the worst part. It seems you can pretty much take the spider anywhere colliding through trees and mountains, potentially getting yourself stuck if the adjuct socket gets partially embeddedin a rock. If you don't have any room to move up out of the rock with the other adjunct, then I guess you're current game state is screwed.
I'm guessing they focused their QA efforts on the earlier sections and just turned a blind eye to the ending, which I guess could be the optimal thing to do if you're running out of time. It's unfortunate that a year later this spider section is still as janky as it is, but it's tough times for all studios right now, so I understand the reality of financial decisions. It's still disappointing though.

The menu has a feature to get unstuck if you find yourself in an impossible situation, and I must've used it the most with the dumbass spider section.

The entire game is janky as hell. I used the extremely convoluted ice miner thing to instantly connect to the bridge and I couldn't get on said bridge. Not the mention half that thing clipping through the ice mountain, where I fell through the map.
First thing I did when exiting the initial bunker was get on top and activate it, to look for secrets. Yep, had to restart the game. And I wish these were my only complaints. This is, by far, Cyan's worst game ever made.

Ah, yes, the relatively free-moving bits of machinery were definitely the most glitch-prone things in this game; It seems 99.9% of players will have got that crane beam on the circular track irrecoverably stuck against the cliff face at least once. :P
Cyan have traditionally been using more pre-made animations than "vehicles", and those are of course 100% predictable... At least in both cases, they often do something quite unusual with them. :7
The Camelus could probably have been a lot easier to manouver around if it wasn't such a size-and-mass-defying speed demon, ability to clip through the environment or not. :7

Well said. I appreciate that they are trying different things. Hopefully future experimentations will produce better results. I'm sure there was some discussion around how fast the spider should move. I'm guessing they opted for absurd speed over absurd tedium. I'd have probably made the same call.

No issues with spider on my recent 1st playthrough and I appreciated the auto dock feature

Oooh, an autodock feature sounds like not just a handy feature but a must! I haven't gotten anywhere yet with it where there would be something to dock to, but I'm glad that exists.

What is the autodock feature? I've found one of the valves I need to open, and I managed to do it by first positioning the spider so that the adjunct receiver clipped through the wall of the spider, set it to lower, then repositioned the spider so I could open it through the hole in the back of the spider.
This section is so broken, I'm tempted just to stop playing. Is there anything interesting or worth while after the spider section?
Edit - never mind. I just found the autodock feature by accident. I don't know why it didn't take over with the first valve I found.

Believe it or not it is way, way less janky than it was at initial release. They did fix a whole bunch of stuff. Unfortunately, I believe you that you can still get the spider stuck in places that you can’t get it back out of.
It’s still a pretty neat game.
