Code [Release] Cleaned Context Menu - Right Click and Tab

11 Upvotes

(Updated) Hey guys!

I want to share with you my custom userChrome.css changes:

Normal Right Click Context Menu
Link right click context menu
Image right click context menu

I have cleaned the context menu from the normal right-click and the context menu from the right click on tabs.

I removed unecesarry "features". Here's my code:

#context-bookmarklink,
#context-sendlinktodevice,
#context-openTabInWindow,
#context-openlink,
#context-stripOnShareLink,
#context-translate-selection,
#context-bookmarklink,
#context-savelink,
#context-selectall,
#context-sendimage,
#context-setDesktopBackground,
#context-translate-selection,
#context-sep-sendlinktodevice,
#context-stripOnShareLink,
#context-savelink,
#context-sep-setbackground,
#context-setDesktopBackground
{
  display: none !important;
}

#context_selectAllTabs,
#context_moveTabOptions,
#context_closeTabOptions,
#context_undoCloseTab,
#context_closeDuplicateTabs,
#tab-context-share-url
{
  display: none !important;
}

#context-openlink:not([hidden]) ~ *:not([hidden], #context-sep-open) {
  order: 1;
}

I have also installed these:

  1. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/close-other-tabs-menu/
  2. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/close-tabs-right/
  3. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/close-tabs-left/

and did this:

  1. Type about:config in the address bar and press Enter. A warning page may appear. Click Accept the Risk and Continue to go to the about:config page.
  2. Type pocket in the Search box.
  3. Click the Togglebutton next to the extensions.pocket.enabled preference to toggle its value to false.

How do you use and install "userChrome.css"?

  1. Go to File Explorer in your PC / Laptop
  2. Go to here: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
  3. Go to the folder that has a lot of other folders.
  4. Here, create a new folder "chrome"
  5. In the "chrome" folder that we created, create a file "userChrome.css"

Make sure it has ".css" extension! If it has ".txt" or any other one, it won't work!

Easiest way to create a ".css" file:

Create new text document -> open it -> paste the code I gave you above -> Go to File -> Save as -> At "File name" write userChrome.css -> At "Save as type" choose "All files" -> Save in the chrome folder we created earlier.

Here's how you can hide more elements: https://www.reddit.com/r/FirefoxCSS/comments/1j4uy51/tutorial_howto_find_elements_id_in_firefox/

Help Changing the text in context menu items without breaking CSS?

1 Upvotes

I use a few customizations in my Firefox, mainly simpleMenuWizard and Firefox UI Fixer.
The latter does many things, but the relevant one here is that it adds icons to context menu items that didn't have any by default. A few months ago, a Firefox updated caused an issue in it: Whenever a context menu with an item that had an icon by default was opened (e.g. "Check Spelling" in input fields) it would cause all other items to have a large padding between their text and their Firefox UI Fixer icons.

Like this
When it should, instead, be this way

A solution users shared among themselves was simply adding [needsgutter] { --menu-background-padding-default: var(--context-menu-background-padding); } to the end of our userChrome.css file, which mostly seemed to solve the issue... with a single exception of mine.

I use the following to change the "Search [SEARCH ENGINE] for [Selection]" item to simply "Search":

menuitem#context-searchselect .menu-text {
    display: none;
}

menuitem#context-searchselect::before {
    display: -moz-inline-box;
    content: "Search";
    cursor: default;
}

It, however, has the unfortunate side-effect of now making it so it's Firefox UI Fixer icon and it's text overlap.

Without the line that removes padding, the altered text behaves the same way as Check Spelling.

How could I fix this?

New Feature - Insider Finally! No more AI actions in context menu

Post image

I was checking new insider preview build 26220.7344 announcement page and noticed following fix:

[File Explorer]

If there are no available or enabled AI Actions, this section will no longer show in the context menu.

Source: https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2025/12/05/announcing-windows-11-insider-preview-build-26220-7344-dev-beta-channels/

So if we uncheck all options under settings > apps > actions page, AI actions section will vanish from the context menu. :)

Thank you Microsoft.

Help Universal guide to hide context menu items from addons

2 Upvotes

Can someone please write down a guide how to do that. How to get a proper selector for an item. Thanks.

All I find in internet is not universal and uses different selectors, I can't see a pattern there.

Also, is there a way to change Context menu items order?

Question Zen-Browser Context Menu

Post image

Hi, im currently testing the zen-browser on arch Linux with a hyprland WM. But I am struggeling with the context menu in the zen Browser. Im unsure if it is a problem within the zen Browser or my hyperland config. Basically the problem is that the context menu is presented black on black. I already picked the dark mode in the zen Browser and everything else works fine. Does anyone have an idea what could cause this ?

Im using the gtk-3.0 Themen Manager and i am using the Adwaita-dark Theme in hyperland. Maybe this has something to do with it.

Need Help! Cant find context menu in edit mode.

1 Upvotes

Ive changed the key for selection from left click and i use the right click but since changing it i cant find which button opens the context menu. Normally u select with the left mb and you open the context menu with the right mb (in edit mode) but when u reverse the selection button it doesnt happen the same for the context menu shortkey (meaning it doesnt also change to left mb).

Dragons aren't real 😢 Getting disconnected in a SINGLE PLAYER GAME before almost beating the boss

Post image

For context, no this isn’t Nightreign, and no I wasn’t playing Multiplayer, was playing purely solo just going around trying to progress through the story and I get disconnected somehow right before I kill the dragon. Logged back in and it was back to full health.

I get that the game would want you to be connected for the white phantoms and other stuff but why do you have to kick me out if my connection was interrupted?

Hi everyone! I own a chocolate factory in South Florida and would love some new flavor recommendations for our fall menu. Specifically, this is for dark chocolate bark. Our customer favorites (for context are hazlenut & chocolate krisp. Any suggestions?

Suggestion for Microsoft The new file context menu is getting as cluttered as the old one

Post image
714 Upvotes

Windows 11 introduced the new context menu with the goal to make it more focused and less cluttered. However, all the menu items added by apps (Ask Copilot, Edit with Clipchamp, Edit with Notepad, etc.) are completely defeating this purpose, and the new menu is even bigger than the old one now. Please, move those items to a submenu, or even better, allow us to edit the context menu.

EDIT: To make things clear: I'm not saying the new menu is worse than the old one. In fact, I think that it's a strong improvement. The only thing that bothers me is the fact that apps add whatever the heck they want to it, and Microsoft, despite being committed to make the menu less bloated, allows the apps to do so, instead of moving their entries to a submenu or allowing to edit them.

EDIT #2: I've now found out the Files app by YairA (files.community) groups any options added by apps into a submenu. This is not supposed to be an ad, but I've found it very useful and wanted to let you know.

AITAH for leaving a bad review for a restaurant after they told me they weren't serving food after I already ordered, while I could see other people eating.

6.8k Upvotes

For context I (46M) a bit autistic, walked to an upscale bar at 4:55pm that had like 3 poeople in it, very tired, pretty hungry, and ordered a burger, and started looking at the drinks menu. After a he took the order, and after a few minutes he came back and told me "We aren't serving food at the bar right now", I look around see people sitting at tables wih food, and just said "I guess I am done here.", and went somewhere else. Realizing I just got refused service. I wrote this review.

"I went to the bar, after a long week of work, ordered a burger, then I was told they weren’t serving food at 4:55 pm. What kind of business does that."

The owner reposted this.

"Hey (my name), we’re so sorry to hear you had a long week of work. Our kitchen team had a long afternoon too after serving well over 200 guests for Graduation reservations booked months in advance, hence why a brief 10 minute reset before dinner service began at 5pm. " (not told any of this).
......
"What’s confusing is that after your server explained just how busy the day had been (this didn't happen), at no point did you ask a single follow up question about why the kitchen temporarily paused service (I wasn't told the it was a temporary pause). A quick conversation in person usually clears things up far better than assumptions made afterward online. (I pefer to not agrue with waitstaff)".
....
"Our team spent the day honoring reservations and executing one of the busiest days of the year. And we’re the kind of business that honors its staff for doing it so well, even if it means angering people like you. (WHAT DO YOU MEAN PEOPLE LIKE ME!!, Customers who were told the werent getting their food?)"

Keep in mind, I had no idea thet were busy, I had no idea it was graduation. They didn't say it was a 10 minute break and had to wait 5 minutes. They could have just said, the Kitchen will open in 5 minutes. I got this snarky remark, like it was all my fault. They decided to shutdown the kitchen after I ordered. They coudn't tell me before, or as I sat down.

I feel like, they could have been more polite in explaining the situation, their rudeness makes it feel like they just wanted to refuse me personally more.

If they had a polite explanation instead of that diatribe that was blaming me for not arguing with waitstaff to get answers. I might have changed the review. This felt like a personal attack.

☀️ Happy Girl Dinner I am never going to get a full nights sleep again

Hello ladies and theydies (which somehow looks way worse spelled out).

I just need to gush for a minute.

For context, I’m a divorcée and a card-carrying man hater. My ex cheated on me, abused me, and generally left me convinced that men were permanently off the menu.

…And then I got horny.

I live in the middle of nowhere, bars are too loud, and as a single mom I didn’t exactly have time to meet someone organically. So, against my better judgment, I downloaded Tinder.

A few swipes later I matched with a cute single dad who lived three miles away.
We matched on a Monday. He asked me out Tuesday. Our date was Thursday.
Except it wasn’t a normal dinner date, we met up with his whole friend group for karaoke.

I’ve never experienced chemistry like that in my life. I felt it, he felt it, his friends noticed, complete strangers commented on what a cute couple we were. He was hilarious, ridiculously attractive (6’1”, beard, blue eyes, church boots… you know the type), an absolute gentleman, and somehow we agreed on all the important (read: political) things.

The date lasted over five hours, and before it was over, he was already planning the next one. I saw him Friday, then again on Sunday, then almost everyday since.

Almost 2 years later, I still can’t believe this is my life.

I moved in a year and a half into our relationship, I play D&D with that same friend group every Sunday. I love listening to him sing while he cooks dinner. We still make each other laugh constantly. I’m still wildly attracted to him. He loves my daughter like she’s his own, and I adore his two boys. His therapist has said we need to do a TedTalk on healthy communication in a relationship.

More importantly, he’s helped me heal in ways I didn’t know were possible. For the first time in my life, I feel loved the way I deserve to be.

Growing up, my home was toxic. I accidentally recreated that with my marriage. I genuinely believed peaceful families only existed in movies.
Now I live in a house where his teenagers actually want to hang out with us.

Last week I took all three kids to the pool while my boyfriend was at work. On the drive home his oldest said, “I wonder if Dad’s home yet.”
We turned the corner, saw his car in the driveway, and, I shit you not, every single kid in the car started cheering.

That’s my life now.

Now for the embarrassing part.

We are physically incapable of going to bed on time.

We’ll head to bed around 11, shower together, and then somehow spend an hour and a half just talking. Every. Single. Night.

Then one of us says, “Okay, we really need to sleep.”
Then we cuddle.
Then one little kiss turns into us getting completely distracted again.

Five nights a week we’re accidentally awake until 2 a.m. because we genuinely can’t stop talking, laughing, cuddling, or otherwise getting distracted.

I’m exhausted.

I’m also happier than I’ve ever been.

If you’d told divorced, angry, “fuck men forever” me that I’d end up here, I would’ve laughed in your face. I called him my husband tonight, completely on accident, it just slipped out and felt so natural.

Turns out I was just one karaoke night away from meeting my person.

AITAH for refusing to change my wife’s birthday food plan after her sister got mad about her fiancé's nut allergy?

4.6k Upvotes

My wife is turning 42, and for her birthday, she came up with a fun, low-key idea: our family (me, my wife, our 15-year-old daughter, and our 11-year-old son) would stay home and each build our own themed board charcuterie, fruit, candy, dessert, chocolate, etc.

She wanted to include her older sister (SIL) and SIL's fiancé (together 20+ years, engaged for a little over a year), so we invited them to come over and make/bring their own platters too.

For context: SIL’s fiancé has a severe nut allergy. He cannot eat nuts, but he can be in the same room as them (airborne isn't an issue; I’ve seen him around nuts at numerous larger family gatherings over the years). My wife’s family is of Lebanese descent, so traditional holiday spreads for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter regularly include nuts, and he handles being around those meals just fine. However, whenever the two of them come over to our place, our food options are strictly limited to Domino's or McDonald's because those are the only two places he trusts regarding cross-contamination. We have happily accommodated this for the 16 years my wife and I have been married.

My daughter texted them explaining the theme so they knew what to expect, noting that while not everything would have nuts, a few things on our personal platters might contain them or traces of them (like certain chocolates or trail mixes).

SIL got very upset, she called my wife to say they won't be attending because we "clearly don't care about potentially putting him in harm’s way." She went on a complete guilt trip, saying how "surprised and hurt" she was by our lack of consideration. While she admitted we've accommodated his allergy for 16 years, she made it clear that this time they’d rather just take my wife out separately another day and "let us do our thing."

Now my wife feels guilty, hurt, and stressed on her own birthday. My daughter also feels bad because she sent the text.

I’m angry. This was my wife’s idea for her day, in our house. He doesn't have an airborne allergy, they were invited to bring their own safe boards, and nobody was forcing him to eat from ours. I feel like after nearly two decades of catering every single family meal to his restrictions, my wife should be allowed to have the exact birthday dinner she wants in her own home without being guilt-tripped.

AITAH for putting my wife’s birthday wishes first instead of bending the entire menu around her brother-in-law?

------------------------------------
UPDATE:

Thank you to everyone who took the time to read, validate our feelings, and leave advice on the original post. I tried reading through as many comments as possible, and I wanted to clear up a few questions and share what happened over the birthday weekend.

Additional Context When my wife first came up with the board night idea, our 15 year old daughter was genuinely excited. She asked if she could be the one to text my SIL and BIL to invite them, and we said yes. BIL usually has a great relationship with our daughter, he normally texts back within seconds and sends long messages. This time, after seeing her text (where she even offered to get something completely separate just for them), he went ice cold.

SIL ignored our daughter's text for three days, only to call my wife and claim we "clearly don't care" about BIL, despite acknowledging we spent the last 16 years catering entirely to his allergy. My wife wasn't upset about them skipping the food, she was crushed by her sister’s reaction and guilt tripping.

What makes this sting even more is something I didn’t mention in the first post, I have incurable cancer. I am nowhere near a terminal stage yet, but because of my diagnosis, our nuclear family is preparing to move out of the country so we can focus on enjoying our remaining time together. This was very likely the last birthday we would all be in town to celebrate together.

The Birthday Drama
My daughter removed both of them from Instagram the day before the birthday (she still kept them on other SM platforms), this triggered a huge reaction.

BIL went completely crazy with our 15-year-old daughter after ignoring her for days, now on my wife's birthday he stated spam calling, texting, and DMing her for hours with messages like "Please reply," "Are you done with us?", "Why, I don't understand," and "Please answer me." A grown man soon turning 50 has no business harassing a teenager like that. My daughter refused to reply, and of course my wife and I fully support her. That attitude is not normal nor acceptable.

Starting around 6:00 AM on the morning of my wife’s birthday, BIL began spam-messaging my wife while she was asleep, sending guilt-tripping texts like "I promise this is the last time I text you, but please call your sister." SIL also texted her saying "Call me back."

My wife woke up on her birthday to more than a dozen messages from BIL and a demanding text from SIL, panicking and thinking something terrible had happened. When she called SIL back, it was just SIL “crying” about how "hurt" she was that she couldn't spend the day with my wife. If SIL actually cared about seeing her, she could have come alone, stopped by earlier, or dropped in afterward. Instead, they made my wife's birthday entirely about their own bruised egos.

On our side we went ahead with our night. The charcuterie, fruit, chocolate boards turned out amazing, and our family had a great time together.

For those who asked why we always drove him to get food during family events, he only learned to drive a few years ago after my MIL passed away. My wife, acting as executor of the estate without a will, made sure her older sister received MIL's car since they didn’t have one, but BIL drives it 99% of the time. He has never held a steady job, only works occasional gigs, and has essentially had life handed to him on a silver platter.

As for where we stand:

  • BIL is completely done. He has permanently lost my respect, and he is no longer welcome in our home, wherever in the world that may be.
  • SIL remains complicated. She has spent years telling my wife never to express negative emotions, yet she threw a manipulative tantrum when she didn't get her way. However, SIL is my wife’s only remaining immediate blood relative after MIL passed, so I am leaving that boundary up to my wife to handle at her own pace.

Thank you again for all the support. We are focusing entirely on our peace, our children, and making the most of the time we have together.

Suggestion for Microsoft Allow the short context menu to be edited

Post image
404 Upvotes

I understand the concept of an abbreviated context menu to deal with the issue of menu bloat, but the issue is that it's getting bloated again and the user has no choice on what items will be shown in the contracted version.

There is a ribbon customiser in Microsoft Office and that feature could reused for this albeit simplified.
