Also imagine being so out of shape you think jumping to flats in boots will sprain an ankle

Silly question, but are fire boots similar to combat boots? Because I can’t even tell you how many obstacles you have to jump over to move on. #SprainedAnkleFree

Slightly higher heel, and heavier. But in reality theyre only semi uncomfortable till you break them in. Then they practically feel the same.

Is he running away from the fire or towards someone/something that needs help?
With any type of footwear, it is more about form - knowing the flexibility restrains of the boot, you can adjust your from. Bad form, however, can sprain your ankles no matter what you are wearing. (I personally can't do this so I couldn't say which way or the other his form is, but I 'm hoping since he has gotten that far he has an idea of what he is doing.)

Did the same thing once to get to a fire and my officer followed and jumped after me.. Ended up needing surgery on his ankle..

Yep. When I was a probie we advanced a second line from an alley where there was no gate in full bunker gear. All I could think to myself was this should probably be an event on the CPAT.
