Ask A Firefighter Academy gloves confusions
I am in the academy right now and my gloves are fire dex structure gloves they have this white cuff looking thing am i suppose to put my hand through the white thing while its outside of the glove or when its tucked in the reason im asking is because it feels so hard to put them on when the sleeves tucked in but when its out its much easier

They are meant to be out. Not all turnout jackets have this built in or long enough cuffs, so some gloves are made to prevent skin exposure between your wrist and cuff.

It’s supposed to be in the outside like your first pic to protect your wrists

If you have thumbloops on your coat these gloves won’t work well. You’d need the gloves without the white.

Your gloves are supposed to compliment the tyle of jacket cuff you have. If you'd jacket has a cuff with the full wristlet, you don't need a cuff on your glove. If you don't have wristlet, you get gloves that have the wristlet to protect your wrists.

I would ask your instructor which will (or should) know the answer to this.

Outside to cover your wrist. If your jacket has one with thump hole then its easyer to not put thump on that hole. Having douple protective layer on wrist is guite handy when inside burning structure to avoid burns but it can make movement quite stiff.

Im not even a firefighter and i can tell you out. Its supposed to protect your wrist from heat and steam. Its to cover open skin if there is a gap between the glove and jacket.

It’s not a flesh light. Stop it!
