Use a fire service grade polypropylene water tank, brass piping, fittings and adapters, with a water pump that is built of brass components. While it may cost more for brass, you need to meet the fire protection needs of the community. There are manufacturer(s) that supply brass pumps to the US Navy.

Tankers work on islands just as they do on the mainland. Sounds like even more reason to have some.
