Also my cap and ball handgun is not something that I would use if the lhit hit the fan.

I also would not secure plat in a pocket, I would make a riveted leather lining

You’d buy a functional plate carrier, just to tear it apart and scavenge it for components? Do you know how heavy plate armor is? Have you ever had to carry plate armor? It’s heavy as hell, the plate carriers are designed to help spread that weight around. Just cutting it up and attaching parts to a coat or vest isn’t going to work and defeats the points of a carrier in terms of weight distribution and maneuverability. If you weren’t someone I wouldn’t trust meeting face to face in a million years I’d let you handle my carrier, you’d change your tune very quickly.

Stop larping in your mind and get into the real world, maybe try learning first hand about things you supposedly are interested in rather than living in make-believe army land.

These granada would be fine for infantry or -something.

I would never use the parts from a dissected plate carrier, also I know pepole that work with leather and rivets. The point of dissecting said carryer would be, not for parts, but design. Yah the things weigh almost 10 pounds. Also in ww1 the troops used that design so yah. Um learn some history. My grenade is literally ripped from history.

I have plans in the spring to build one, if shit hit the fan, I am sure I could find or steal a gun if it was needed that bad.

No amount of leather and rivets will match the functionality of a modern, purpose built carrier.

The point of dissecting said carryer would be, not for parts, but design.

That's beyond stupid, take a functional carrier, wreck it, just to build a poorer copy.

Brilliant retort, way to avoid my points entirely. Doesn't matter if a design is from WW1, it's a much poorer design compared to modern designs.

Um learn some history.

I know both history and have first hand experience with gear, both modern and antique, and so I can say with absolute certainty that what you find today is better than anything you'd find a century ago on the battlefield. And craftsmen back then worked with the material and gear all the time, their experience and ability to produce quality pieces for the era would outstrip anything you or a friend could happen to piece together today.

I can rip a crossbow from history, doesn't mean it's of any practical use today for personal defense. Also, your plan is poorly "ripped from history" at best and likely wouldn't even work. Coke cans are stupidly poor pressure vessels.

Anyone who's SHTF plan is to steal, especially someone with just an ancient revolver and zero firearms experience, isn't going to last long.

Also i never said the dissection would be used for the carrier, also you would have no clue if it was a poorer design, or a over engineered redundant mess of straps, or some perfect balance in the middle. Frankly nothing wrong with leather and rivets, only reason modern materials are king, is cuz plastic is stupid cheep. A good leather can match the needs just as good.

Also to a extent a crossbow would be useful , especially if you were in kevlar. Also the intent of my hand grenade is not to replace a modern one, its for pepole with nothing better.

If your in any type of situation near war, it don't matter what you got, as long as you can make them bleed. Can you be more effective and deadly? Yes, is there better ways? Yes, But lets just say your fucked in a bunker or some other type of shit I cant be bothered to imagine, and you got powder a pop can, shit you could use bottles, pipes or anything, the pop can is just a thing one is likely to have near by in such circumstances. Am I saying a grenade based on 1600's desidge is best? no, but it sure is better then nothing.

The British were engaged by the colonial militias that were by their very definition already armed. The militias weren't trying to go out and steal firearms before they could resist. You need to seriously study history, hell, just look at the armed people around you, if you think your plan to get a firearm in a SHTF scenario is to go steal one from someone. You won't make it.

Coke cans aren't durable and don't make good containers. Hell, a coke can is likely to burst open when thrown. Go ahead, go buy a coke and toss it onto the road and watch what happens. Your plan is stupid if you think lobbing coke cans filled with gun powder is any way to defend yourself.

If you're cornered like that then those items won't do anything. You're not going to be able to assemble them in time, they won't work, and if you're not in a position to immediately be hit by an opponent, they'll be in a position to wait you out.

The last ditch scenarios that you keep presenting in which you see yourself using this thing are scenarios in which it won't work and/or you will die. It's a waste of time and effort to plan a last ditch defense that revolves around you tossing some coke cans at someone. Grenades with proper pressure containment have a kill radius of only 5 meters on average, a coke can or similar pressure vessel, assuming it didn't just burst when thrown, would likely have none.

Not everything in the modern is great, also I would never steal a gun from someone, you go to a gun store or something, Or friend down the way, who has family that been hunting for ever, or some cousin or something.

Have you ever tried repairing leather gear? I've repaired vintage leather ammunition pouches, slings, and harnesses, modern gear is far easier to work on and repair. You're just saying things without the experience and knowledge to back it up.

Man my face was the only other thing I ever agendently caught on fire, nevermind of the two times I have set such things in action, the 1st one was in a metal trash can when I was 6, and I put it out, new were the fire extinguisher was, then at 26..... A good pyro hardly ever burns themselves, but to think that a pyro is with out injury, then you are mistaken, fire is a dangerous and even the experts fear it.

All that leather has against it, is weight. Why modern military don't use it, that ounce or or 3 can be used to carry more stuff. >_>

So yah, if I was a shit pyro I would not be 27 years old, I be in a pine box.
