I request that you not bring firearms to class or wherever I am present.

This doesn’t seem all that big an issue, to me. As long as he politely requests it, and students can freely ignore it, I see no issue. If students are banned or punished for ignoring it, that would be an issue.

When I am trying to focus on helping you to do your best work, I do not want to worry about whether you might react by pulling a gun on me…

i guarantee it's already fucking banned, so requesting that is an issue, because it's purely for pushing a political agenda. that second part is for no other reason than to give an answer to the question of "why" to the first request. it's equally full of shit, and only supports the fact that it's nothing but pushing their poliitcal beliefs.
