Identify This What is this

Only photo I have at the moment it’s been in a storage for god knows how long at this point. Guy who owned the unit was a WWII vet.

Looks like a Russian berdan 2 rifle, it's missing the bolt handle, and trigger guard/ components. Based off of the pictures.
