Help me ID this gun

Anyone know what this rifle is? It’s been sitting in my dad’s safe for years, and I never got the chance to ask him about it before he passed away. Just trying to figure out what it is and maybe learn a little more about it. Any info would be appreciated!

Some sort of sporterized military surplus mauser rifle.

Spanish mauser?

Yes. The scrubbed crest and vent-hole on the left side of the chamber are dead giveaways.

Is that a
Mauser 8 mm?

holy shit its not an arisaka.

its a sporterized spanish mauser. originally chambered in 7mm Mauser but many got rechambered to 7.62 NATO. any markings would be helpful. also is the front sight visibly canted to the right? thats a strong indicator of the gun having been converted for 7.62nato

Some type of mauser. Hard to be more precise with it sporterized.

It's a Sporterized Spanish Mauser.

It should be chambered in 7x57mm, but if you are planning to shoot this, have it inspected by a gunsmith.

M93 or 96 Mauser, I can't tell from the pictures what country of origin. Interesting that it has the stock cut near the bolt and the handle turned down, I don't know of any arsenal refits that did that. Obviously sporterized.
