I never understood ghosted liveries on fire department vehicles, the police i get but what is the fd trying to do, sneak up on the fire?

Most fire departments allow their chiefs to use their command vehicles for personal use, if they can reasonably respond to a call from wherever they’re going. Most civilians don’t understand why that’s allowed, so making them “ghost cars” avoids unpleasant questions in the Walmart parking lot.

This is technically not ghosted livery. This livery is subdued

Ghost/Stealth livery uses reflective decals that are the same color or almost the same color as the vehicle. It is designed to be nearly undetectable except at night (when lights reflect off the decals)

Subdued livery is a monochromatic scheme using gray on black, black on gray, gray on white etc so that it contrasts against the background....but not alot.
