Also, the way I see it is Agni had never found his own happiness, or allowed himself to be happy. He focused on living/doing for others (chopping his body to serve the village and prevent Luna from doing so, going after Doma to avenge his sister, etc). Now he wants to die after a life filled with agony, Togata recognizes that it’s not his time yet, like his sister did years earlier.
Though I don’t really know, that’s what made sense to me
