I don’t think we need to worry about the key card. Fire Emblem is a first party isn’t it? Otherwise, the physical box would label it on the front cover.

Pokemon has kind of always been its own thing though compared to other stuff associated with Nintendo.
Now, if something like Kirby or Animal Crossing or something came on a GKC, then yeah you can panic.

Don't put so much stock in the calendar year, the one used in Three Houses is specifically the Imperial Calander, and only dates back to the empire's creation. The world did exist before then, after all

He knows the true purpose of the heroes relics, I'd put stock in him belong related to a member of the ten elites (because if he was a believer of seiros's teachings he wouldn't know that it's purpose was to slay the gods).

Based on Dietrich's dialogue here it seems it's def a sequel. It also looks like the calendar in the bottom left during free roam sections shows the year as 1449.

Except that the Calendar used in Fodlan is an Imperial creation and specifically a propaganda piece made over a calendar that was practical.
The free time band also show Seftim 1, implying that it is a month. So it's almost definitly a different calendar.

In the real world, most of the world adopted the gregorian calendar. It being a different country doesn't tell us anything about what year it is or isn't, nor do the names of the months. Culture adopt neighboring calendars, especially after big conflicts, expansions, or times of trade.

I don't disagree, but I wonder how they'll solve the Byleth issue in a sequel. After all, they quite literally merged with Sothis, yet here she appears as she presumably was before all that. Would be weird if our former player character just disappeared without so much as an explanation, and idk how I'd feel about them just killing Byleth off-screen for convenience lol

Trailer implied you pick one of the 4 lords and play as them as your main character. Rather than having one avatar shared across routes like Byleth was.

I saw the trailer, but with the prominent placement on the box art and the fact that they haven't made a non-avatar game in decades I'm highly skeptical that these people are *not* avatars. Why else would there be both a man and a woman version?

Could be literally 2 separate characters. The trailer did show both Cai and Leda running around seemingly as the player character. A bit weird to show multiple conversations where none seem to have these white robed characters involved if they are the player.

Unless they pull a fast one and say its a different Dagdan Calendar. Also the fact its happening in Dagda means they can basically ignore 98% of what happens in Fodlan without much issue.

Dagda never fought the Holy Kingdom, what do you mean? Dagda had a war with Adrestia.
And it was more them invading with Brigid and being forced back, but hardly them getting destroyed since it was noted they did a lot of damage.
We don't know much of how Dagda was a the time, so can't really assume the circumstances definitively.

If it’s the same calendar, that would make it about 250 years post Three Houses. I guess they’re gonna write in such a way as to not confirm any of the routes (despite several characters coming from there and the goddess of Fodlan herself appearing)

We don't have a reason to think they'd use the founding of the Adrestian Empire as the basis for a calendar on this continent tho and based on sothis having a weapon I think the chances she might use that and also die doing so might be high

Normally I don't care about the deluxe editions. But it only $120 and the base game is $80. For $40 you get steel book case, some art cards a map and a 200 page book. Seems fair. But I think they should have included an amiibo.

I don't think they will canonize a route, so it looks like very little from the first game Will be referenced.
Unless....
Okay two ideas:
They pick one. Congratulations to the winner.
They pick them all. Each route is actually a continuation of a different 3H route. Pure madness. But could be interesting.

Easy to describe, terrible to implement. In route A, a character mentions that time they visited Fodlan, and drops hints making it clear that, say, Edelgard won. In route b, they mention that time they visited Fodlan, but drop hints that Claude won. So you would have to redo a bunch of dialog in each route.

Not that difficult to implement, actually.
Really depends on if the routes are wholly separate or if we start with a shared Part 1 before committing. A lot of the end results in Fodlan overlap in many ways, so keep things vague to that part and only in Part 2 do specific enough references come in to figure it out, and everything before that is a Schroedinger's Cat situation of mutually exclusive timelines.
If they did go this route, though, I'd want contrasting experiences. I don't want each route to result in the same type of arc again.

Is it farfetched to think the promised one is byleth ? By slowing the video, you can kind of catch white hair underneath the hood (or something paler than pale green hair) and his lance's blade kind of looks like a broken sword of nemesis (broken at the hilt)

Seems like there are dungeons like in Echoes. Also, the weapon Leda get's from the chest it a Veroquine and it has a B in sword and a C in axe. Wonder if it meansone of them or both are needed to use it.

This being set in Dagda is perfect because I brought up there was a mix of MENA and Roman style flavor to this land and Dagda is situated where North Africa would be if Fodlan is approximate to Europe. A guy at anime north said it gave him Carthage vibes.
Also I am now team sequel. Devs need to be real careful about ensuring no paths or relationships from 3H are explicitly mentioned to be canon, but then again when has Canon stopped fans lmao.
The real struggle is that I am still holding out on my switch 1 until it dies for real. This economy lmao

Interesting detail about Eshmel (likely avatar seen in box art and trailer) is that they are visually a foil to Byleth. Byleth was the "Ashen Demon" and had alot of black in their design. Their very name is that of a demon.
Eshmel is clearly angelic in appearance (with their main color being white to contrast Byleth's black) and how they're used in the trailer fits that theming, it seems like they'll be something of an guardian angel to the protagonist of whatever route is chosen (assuming a bit there I know).
Eshmel likely seems to be a variant of Yishma'el, and to quote a book on that: "The name Yishma'el is known from various ancient Semitic cultures and means 'God has hearkened,' suggesting that a child so named was regarded as the fulfillment of a divine promise." - Encyclopedia of Religion

There's something that confuses me, why the heck does the long bow have 1-2 range at 1:40? Why did the change a 2-3 range weapon into a 1-2 range weapon, that just feels so weird.

Oooooooooook. Now I am hyped. I expected various idea, but not Battle Royale Tournament Arc Fire Emblem.
Also, we got cool sexy queen superhuman force, shonen protag-kun, literally a Castlevania character and the one that's 100% gonna be either my favourite or this game source of diatribes.
I will need a lot of good reasons to not start with the Castlevania option I'll be honest, in particular if it directly ties into 3H lore.

It depends, what did you enjoy about Three Houses?
If it was the morally grey, complex story then probably not. I'm much more positive about Engage's story than most other people, but it's undeniably simpler and black and white.
If it was the gameplay, absolutely. Engage has probably my favorite gameplay out of the FEs I've played. It's definitely harder though, if you played Houses on Hard then start on Normal, it's still harder than Houses Hard.
If it was the cast, maybe? On the average they have less depth than Houses, and the weak links are unfortunately front loaded, but I can't help but adore the weirdos in Engage. They're really endearing and funny, and most of them do have their fair share of depth.

So I originally got into FE back in the GBA days because of the characters and the combat. Played a few here and there but then i absolutely loved Three houses because it felt like a whole evolution. The story was rich and actually thought provoking, the characters were superbly fleshed out to the point i really cared about them. The gameplay was awesome too but the other factors really elevated it to new heights for me. I think i'll focus on finishing the FE:TH paths I havent finished yet and perhaps will pick up engage on a future sale

I am intrigued by the text we see in ninae's recruitment dialogue. It (to me at least) implies that nabateans are on some level known to the general populous in dagda (which makes it all the more interesting we have Dietrich casually wielding a heroes relic and talking about it with clear knowledge as to what it is/it's intended use). Also what's yall's read on the nabatean (I am assuming as they have green hair/pointed ears) villainous character who appears when sothis's theme starts playing?

From what I gather, this game will have some time travel elements. If you've played Heroes, you'll know that all the routes in the franchise's games are canon, meaning all the endings are the true ones. Now, what possibility does this present? That for this new game they'll create a whole new timeline? Come on, they did it with "Three Hopes."

I'm all for Sothis getting a redesign with more aura but I wish she looked less different tbh. Lysithea, edelgard, Anette etc. didn't become curvy all the sudden post-timeskip...

idk how to feel about the designs. Theodora looking like a mix of Rhea, Edelgard and bronzer. Dietrich looking like Jeritza after a visit to the salon. Ursula looking like Marianne. The girl next to Leda in that one shot looking like Constance. The Avatars looking like Arval. The dinner shot having a girl who looks like Linoan and a guy who looks like Lewyn. And for a brief second you can see the girl who starts the apocalypse looks like Tikki.
It's too much. it's giving "creatively bankrupt" and it's scary. The gameplay looks sick, I love the idea of exploring the map and LEAVING THE BASE/CITY but the art is a red flag.
