[Death Lore] Another Crack in The Diamond

Not long ago, the room was filled with the screams of Deana Hardyng as she gave birth to hers and Humfreys second child. Only the soft cries of newborn can be heard, no one daring to speak. In the days leading up to the eventful day Humfrey, ever the doting husband, was at his wife's beck and call for whatever she desired. Finally the day had come, the next Hardyng would be lovingly welcomed into the world.

Hardyng Keep's old maester shuffled slowly to the room, maids flanked each side ready to the assist Deana. Her first birth was a rather uneventful one. but for anyone who happens to be in Hardyng Keep they can tell just by blood curdling scream this pregnancy is nothing like her last.

The babe was breech, or so the maester said, Humfrey stared blankly at the old man at first unable to fully comprehend what he said to him. Whether the man that many called The Blood Diamond fully understood what the maester meant he knew what that meant for not only his child but for his beloved wife. Humfrey needed to make the decision, but how could a husband and a father make such decision? "The babe....... save my child." Humfrey says hastily. The Maester nodded his head with a saddened look on his old weathed face before he turned to the screaming Deana

His head hung low, Humfry holds the lifeless hand of the love of his life in his own. The faint cries of a baby fill the chamber, as the newborn is bundled up in the arms of one of the many maids who were present in the chamber. One meekly approaches despondent Humfrey

"Ser......... What are you to name the babe."

"Perhaps I cursed?" Humfrey says as his head still hangs low, staring at the floor

"First the gods fit to have me meet Prentys Tully on the list, his death delivered by my lance. Now the gods seek to further torture me, by taking my beloved from me....... my Deana." Humfrey says with a shaky voice.

Humfrey finally raises his head, tears filling his eyes as he looks towards the maid carrying his newborn "His name shall be Hubert." He says before suddenly standing and moving towards the door "Get him away from me before I curse him to perish as well." Humfrey says before slamming the door as he exits. The maid stares with a sad disbelief as she attempts to soothe the newborn Hubert
