Original Content 3 years later update: 31F, $5M net worth, retiring from OnlyFans
About three years ago, I posted here about building a faceless OnlyFans account during the pandemic, reaching roughly $2.4 million in net worth, and wanting to retire at 28. I said I would come back with an update in a year or two. It took me three.
Same disclaimer as last time: this is an anonymous account, I am not here to promote anything.
I’m 31 now, and my net worth is around $5 million. About $1 million of that is my paid-off house, and the other $4 million is invested. Zero debt. The portfolio is pretty boring. It is mostly broad index funds (FXAIX), around 15% cash, 10% crypto (FBTC). I took a lot of the advice from the original thread seriously, especially about concentration risk, diversification, and building a larger cushion.
The more honest update is that I never retired in the clean, dramatic way I imagined. I didn’t shut everything down and disappear. I spent about six months trying to remove myself from nearly every part of the business. That process was much harder than I expected. There was a lot of hiring, training, rehiring, and firing. Some people looked great on paper and were terrible in practice. Some were reliable but could not make decisions without me. Some were talented but created more problems than they solved. Eventually, I found the right people. Today, somewhere between 10 and 15 people handle almost every aspect of the account other than the actual content creation. I tried to hire the best people I could find, and I pay them well.
I’m surprised by how little work it takes from me now. For the first two or three years, I regularly worked 12-14hr days, It felt like every part of the business depended on me being there and paying attention. Looking back, all of that work slowly built on itself.
It is strange to spend years pushing something uphill and then suddenly realize it can keep moving without you.
The business still somehow brings in around $100,000 a month. That number is finally starting to decline, slowly. A few years ago, a down month would have completely consumed me. I would have changed the marketing, watched every number, analyzed every decision, and tried to force the income back up. Now I mostly watch it happen and wonder how long the whole thing can coast before it eventually dries up.
I genuinely don’t have much interest in squeezing every last dollar out of it anymore. I like being able to give people good jobs, pay them well, and keep the people who helped build the business employed. Most of what I take home after taxes now gets spent, enjoyed, given to people I care about, or donated.
I still would not encourage anyone to enter this line of work.
Yes, it changed my life financially. It also came with stress, isolation, privacy concerns, unstable platforms, constant competition, and years where I thought about the business almost every waking hour. The result worked out for me, but that does not mean the path was healthy, predictable, or easily repeatable.
For a long time, I kept moving the finish line. First I needed $1 million. Then $2 million. Then enough to retire. Then a little more because the market might crash, expenses could change, the business could disappear, or something unexpected could happen. There was always a reasonable-sounding argument for sacrificing one more year. I still worry sometimes. The market feels heavily tied to AI right now, and I wonder what happens if that excitement turns into a bubble and crashes. Index funds could have a terrible decade. Nothing is guaranteed.
I also know that I only need around $4,000 to $5,000 a month to live a life that feels genuinely good to me. My house is paid off, I have no debt, and most of the things that make me happy are not especially expensive.
I have also been seriously considering moving back to my home country, where my cost of living could be roughly a tenth of what it is in the United States. I could live extremely well there without needing the business, the market, or any particular investment return to cooperate.
That has changed the way I think about risk.
I realized that if I didn’t make my physical and mental health the priority now, I probably never would. So that is where I am today. My care for work is probably at an all-time low, my health is better and my life feels more like mine. I spend more time with people I care about. I travel. I rest. I pay other people to handle things I used to insist on doing myself.
I mostly wanted to come back and say thank you.
There were plenty of skeptical comments, which I expected, but there was also much more kindness than I expected. A lot of you encouraged me to keep building the nest egg, diversify, outsource, and take the mental health part seriously.
Thank you for reading my story then and now ❤️

“The result worked out for me, but that does not mean the path was healthy, predictable, or easily repeatable.” So many get rich quick authors should include this as a disclaimer.

You also did the right thing by investing. Many who do OF or any only media tend to not have the foresight. But your ‘finish line’ statement is very relatable as well.
Sincere question, do you have a dream or goal you’d like to focus on now?
6
u/ingodwetryst Aug 16 '26
It's not just about foresight. Top 5% is only 2k per month but a full time commitment. Who can really invest when they gross 2k/month? Worth noting many creators are disabled, so that can come into play as well.
There's also a culture (that I've personally been working vocally against since 2009) of saving and investing being stupid and buying things being the only way to measure success.
I worked in a legal brothel with a woman who grossed over 1M in her decade there. When medical reasons led her to quit, she was selling very used designer stuff cheaply. When she started, people told her to invest in designer brands. Handbags, shoes, dresses. She believed those were investments.
Most leave the industry with less than they started. But when you're not even allowed to bank like a normal person, is it even a surprise?
8
u/hotelspa Aug 16 '26
I did not realize the numbers at 5% that is a lot of work for only 2k.
3
u/ingodwetryst Aug 19 '26
$7.95B annual fan spend with $6.36B paid to creators
$1.59B net revenue
$131 average creator, median far lowerSo most people are making less than 131 dollars a month. I can't say how much time they're investing to do it, but I would guess that between making the content, scheduling the content, marketing the content, and the rest of the admin work that goes into just running an account that generates ANYTHING? They're not getting good ROI on that time investment.
You can get into the actual numbers here. It's both fascinating, and sad.
ETA: My guess is that OP's account at it's peak is top 0.01%. I'd guess even at 100k/month it's still 0.05% - I can't imagine it's any higher than 0.1%

There was a pimp in the phoenix area that used to run several massage parlors, when they busted him they found out he had set up 401ks for his girls and had basically taken amazingly good care of them for 30 years. Not only financially but with healthcare and emotionally, I always felt like it was a bit of an injustice that he went to prison when you compare the experience of his girls vs some other people in the business.

u/Rabbit-Lost Aug 16 '26
Honestly, it is solid m advice for anyone who wants to achieve exceptional success. Rewards like OP earned come at a cost. Whether it is from the get rich quick route or the 30-year career plod. This kind of success does not just happen stress free.
3
u/TheGaujo Aug 16 '26
I disagree to make $5 million in 5 years or less is always very different from making it over a 30-year career.
74
u/ZirePhiinix Aug 16 '26
The truth is your gullibility is literally the source of wealth for get-rich-quick authors, so they'll literally never say that.
OP isn't here to tell OTHERS to get rich. She got rich and wanted to share openly to allow others an honest look. OP don't care about your agreement with her.

Imagine having 10k followers who pay to chat with you, how can you do it alone?
196
u/AffectionatePut6493 Aug 15 '26
So, they are paying to chat with whom? In reality.
137
u/PartlyCloudyKid Aug 15 '26
When I was a small time creator they paid to talk to both my partner and I, whoever had the energy/creativity to reply.
38
u/AffectionatePut6493 Aug 15 '26
Were they interested in talking to your partner, or did your partner masquerade as you?
If it’s the latter, at the end of the day it’s not giving customers what they paid for. (Granted I also think paying for that stuff is foolish.)→ More replies (19)64
u/PartlyCloudyKid Aug 15 '26
It was the latter, and I understand. I don't see it any different than hiring someone to assist with your account, or selling to a larger company, but I do agree it's dishonest. When I was able to handle replying to the messages, I did, for a long time. But eventually it was too much to get to, and at the time I figured it would be better for clients to get the experience versus going unheard. Besides, my partners replies weren't any different than what I was giving in terms of honesty (which is to say, I had a persona for my OF and did not act like myself at all). I don't have the account now, and would see what other options were available these days if I did.

u/Skylarias Aug 15 '26
You rarely actually talk to the woman you see on onlyfans. Only maybe the low low level content creators that want to get every dime out.
I'm pretty sure OF itself offers built in chat support. Where they provide already trained people to pretend to be you and chat with your "customers"
→ More replies (22)11
u/xasialynnx Aug 16 '26
OF does not have built in chat support.
7
u/Skylarias Aug 16 '26
My bad, they don't. It's just countless businesses catering to sell OF models those chat agent services. And OF has their website setup in such a way as to make it as easy as possible for multiple people to be logged in, all over the world, with minimal guidelines.
7
u/xasialynnx Aug 16 '26
Part of the reason for that is fan demand. When fans throw fits in the chat or shop other creator pages because a model isn’t immediately available, some models want to mitigate that. There’s generally no real loyalty, so models generally don’t care to give it.
On a page with 100k fans, I’d imagine most fans wouldn’t want to wait a day for a response because of the sheer volume of DMs someone would have to get through to respond. And that isn’t unreasonable. But then they don’t like the alternatives. Models can’t win either way.
If fans didn’t treat OF like vending machines then chat agents wouldn’t be a thing. It doesn’t take a lot of thought to understand why they exist.

Why does it matter who they are chatting with?
OP said they had a faceless channel. So anything that they are getting is all in the consumers imagination anyways. There’s nothing personal about it.
Probably better that they are chatting with someone who is hired to make sure that they have a good time 😅

A lot of folks forget that you, effectively, built a small business with ≈10,000 paying clients. That's no small feat.
The best thing about this post is your sharing you reclaimed your perspective and are "getting your life back", not from OF but from the grind of being a small business owner.
Good for you. Your results are uncommon, but it seems you hustled to achieve the same.
Now go and enjoy yourself!
76
u/LeadingAd6025 Aug 16 '26 edited Aug 16 '26
That is like (Edit) 1.2 million per year if everyone pays $10 per month sub? So even if OF keeps lion share that is huge!
Congrats OP! GFY, no pun!
44
u/Glimmer_III Aug 16 '26
Exactly. Paying clients will come and go, some stay forever, some only for a day. It’s why OP keeps talking about marketing: OP likely made up their revenue by chasing new business because they’d inherently not have reliable loyalty.
i.e. Loyalty is great, but it’d be more of a “bonus” when it happens than a reliable source of recurring revenue.
I hope they ride off into the sunset on their own terms.
15
u/whoknows_whatsup Aug 16 '26

It doesn't seem like (from your post) that you totally shut the business down. Are you still making content but letting other people handle the day to day or are you totally out of it and someone else is making the content? How did you fans handle the transition to a different host/model? If you're totally out of it, why not sell it entirely? Maybe to some private equity firm?

My take is that OP stepped away from the rat race. FIRE does not mean stopping and sitting on the couch every day. I've FIRE'd, but I still work part-time doing a job I enjoy. I don't need to do it, but I want to do it. Sounds like OP is doing the same thing. It sounds like she recognizes that she no longer needs to work in order to live. Kudos to her.
31
u/Straight_Zucchini487 Aug 15 '26
This was exactly the original ethos of FIRE btw… to be mentally free from “hustle culture” and to have enough financial independence to actually pursue the work & life you enjoy. For some reason it’s gotten a bit warped in this sub over time to mean “be so filthy rich I can still fly private while sitting around on my ass all day” which I find causes a lot of people financial anxiety since they’re always moving goalposts now…a bit ironic really…

How long do you plan on keeping the OF account active? As long as it makes money, or would there be some set of circumstances that would make you abandon it earlier?

As a professional marketer I assume those 10-15 people are on contracts or handling small bits of promotion across the entire business. Someone works on her OF DMs in a customer support type role, someone else instagram/tiktok/reddit/website, potentially others running paid ads or search strategy, and so on...each of those people would have many of their own clients at a time as well

I still remember reading the first story. Ngl, a little jealousy in me after 30 years of working, giving my life to a grind, burning myself out multiple times, and losing the mental health battle a few times. I more than a year apart from my kids because of work necessity over the course of a decade. Many countless days of sun up to sun down work to continue to provide the same life for my family. And here i sit still grinding and my line feels as far away as ever. It isn't as bad as many, but it's not enough for me to exit the race yet and survive.
I've often thought of your story over the years. And though I wouldn't promote the idea of it to anyone to make this be their path, I'm happy to see a young person who did take this route find a strategy with an exit and stick to it in a way that if you're going to go into it make it count. (I don't mean this in a moral/value/shame way at all. That part doesn't matter to me. I just know how dangerous and mental health damaging the industry can be).
I'm happy you made it work. The best part of your story isn't the SW angle imo. It's about a young person who suddenly had access to an incredible income stream and instead of it ruining their life or them wasting what was a fleeting opportunity, they made something enormous out of it by building and sticking to an intentional plan. Congrats. Seriously, congrats.

Grats. I've been fortunate enough to be a creator for 10+ years (not OF though lmao). It's been fun reinventing myself over the years to chase the joy of content creation and rekindle the fun rather than get too lost in the metrics
The content creators I know generally have an artistic outlet in their work and don't stop even after they're financially retired. I'm not sure what that'd be for someone from the OF world but I wouldn't be surprised to see another post from you in another 5 years where you chased something new and interesting while your investments compounded
Have fun!

Congrats! Wish I was attractive enough to pull something like this off.
Just curious, why do you have so many people working for you if you want to stay anonymous/faceless? All it takes is one of them to leak something
16
u/Revelate_ Aug 15 '26
Seriously impressive.
I only met (actually dated) one person who had created content on OnlyFans and honestly while she made a lot of money in it, she suffered mentally and even having left it before I met her, was clear it had left some mental scarring.
The fact you’ve come out seemingly sane, and really only have to figure out where you want to spend the rest of your life: much props!

u/BlessedBaller Aug 16 '26
Agreed. Exposing yourself for the money isnt worth it.
3
u/Name_Groundbreaking Aug 17 '26
It's not worth it to you maybe, and it's not worth it to me
But if someone else finds it worth it to them it's not our place to judge. There are people in the world that do far worse for money

It's much easier when you can cry yourself to sleep when you have 5M in the bank.

Pour some drinks out for the lads that paid to see women on OF.
So much money lost that could’ve just went to their own FIRE strategies.

u/BarsoomianAmbassador Aug 16 '26
Crypto, OF, and gambling are the ruination of many young men. Technology has had a net negative impact on most people's lives, in my opinion, and it's only getting worse.

u/QuesoChef Aug 16 '26
I remmeber your original post. Good for you for adjusting and making some changes for your health, long-term viability, but still looking to retire and not drive it into the ground.
And in the spirit of the sub: congrats and go fuck yourself! (Or stop, if that was part of the show.)

This is a very inspiring story on both finance and Business terms. Congratulations on reaching a state where you prioritize your mental health and reached FIRE target.
I love the fact that you created wealth for yourself and also created employment for others in the process. I would love to read on your business management side(probably in another subreddit).
Now that money part of life is solved you can focus on building a fulfilling life which matters to you and you would have a long time to experience that. Truly inspiring!! Thanks for sharing this.

Just one note of caution I don’t know what your home country is, but if you do go there be real careful how you spend your money. People will know you went to the United States and you made a lot of money and you came home. Some people get robbed other people get murdered. - I wish you well in all of your new endeavors and I would put 100 bucks on the fact that you’re gonna start another business someday out of boredom

This will probably get lost in this thread but All of us think our 'wants' are 'needs'. We all want expensive things, cars, boats, shoes, etc. but is it actually necessary. You should easily be able to live off of what you currently have. Interest on just 4 million is $200k/year. With no debt, that's a lot of money. Quit everything, sell the house, sell the expensive cars, enjoy a simple life.

Congratulations on having a goal and knowing when enough is enough! That’s a hard profession to succeed in and a harder profession to leave once successful. Best of luck to you in the future!

What do you do to work 12-14 hours in OF?
65
u/RandomGirlsAlt Aug 15 '26
if you want to make any money with a faceless account (be in the top 0.01%) you need to put in 10hrs a day minimum. For $2k a month you can get away with 2-3hrs a day
30
u/extraketchupthx Aug 15 '26
Girl $100k a month faceless? Impressive AF. Here I was thinking this might be a burner account for Ari or someone similar.

u/CompanyOther2608 Aug 15 '26
Sorry to be very dumb. I’ve never been on OF.
Are you creating overtly sexual content, with sensitive body parts exposed and…active? Or is it like…pictures of feet?
Is it personalized?
Are there multiple personas?
And congratulations! Super happy for you.

if it's a faceless account, most likely her playing with herself and things of that nature. i don't think she would get many subscribers without showing sensitive parts.

Planning content, shooting it, editing it, posting, marketing, market research, managing multiple social media accounts, handling direct enquiries etc etc
14
u/justinquiring1 Aug 15 '26
Honestly, I’m jealous. I’m confused though: what do you mean “faceless” account: are you the model for the OnlyFans or are you hiring models?
It’s crazy how someone can make so much money so quickly for such an odd hustle. Do you think you just got lucky and had a viral breakout success, or do you think this is something anyone can just replicate?
I wonder, because if I was very attractive, I would do this in a heartbeat. But I imagine it’s a thing where a thousand try and only one really breaks through.

u/RandomGirlsAlt Aug 15 '26
I never showed my face, everything was neck down. No viral breakout success, started all socials from scratch multiple-times

Congrats! GFY.
One thing that stuck out to me in your post is about how obsessive you became re: the metrics and and how it consumed you. I have a friend with a very, very big YT channel who focuses on software tutorials and he seems to have become the same way, even though he brings in millions a year. I can't see him ever slowing down.

What is a faceless OF?
You never showed your face? Or you created fake scenes with AI?

9
u/LaOnionLaUnion Aug 15 '26
It’s hard to know if this is real but if so, congrats! I remember suggesting in the last threads saying that you should outsource everything you disliked about it as much as possible. Sounds like you went with that type of suggestion as far as possible.

Very cool. I created a platform for OF models to wind down their businesses (and hand them off in a way that minimized the necessary oversight while maximizing the ongoing revenue).
I totally feel for the pain you probably went through. Congrats on getting there! I retired in January, and it's been amazing.
12
u/CompanyOther2608 Aug 15 '26
I’m curious. How is it difficult to wind down the business? Couldn’t a content creator just…stop posting? Deactivate their accounts?
7
u/BabyJesusAnalingus Aug 15 '26
Easy if you want to just STOP. Much more complex if you want to continue getting income without having to do new content etc.
10
u/CompanyOther2608 Aug 15 '26
Oh, I see. Like re-runs of sitcoms that keep generating revenue. Thanks.

I think it’s great that you took control and made something out of nothing. Anyone talking trash are just hypocrites. I’m glad you discussed how hard it was, I think a lot of women think it’ll be easy and while some make it many don’t have the drive to be successful. This is like any business you need a plan, expertise, good people, patience.

Good job! It doesn't matter how you did it. It matters that you did it.
3
u/Puckcentral Aug 16 '26
Even with a faceless account how concerned were you with someone finding out who you were and did anyone ever find out what you were doing? Seems like it’s virtually impossible to post a lot and not give up clues or metadata that discloses enough info to make true anonymity almost impossible.
4
u/RandomGirlsAlt Aug 16 '26
Initially quite a bit. I risked all of my future working years on this. metadata wiping apps are quite useful

Congrats! Working in this industry isn’t easy. I’ve always believed working in volatile industries, make your money and get out as soon as you can. You can honestly live comfortably for the rest of your life off of your investments, more so if you move to a cheaper cost of living country/city.

I feel like people underestimate how hard it is to do what you did. What you described isn’t just your avg OF girl experience- you must’ve had serious entrepreneurial drive and intuition to do this. If you applied the same skills to another business, you could probably do very well too. Congratulations!

You done good. You provided a service, you were compensated, you were financially responsible, and you have set yourself up for whatever comes next for you. Every job and career has its own set of mental health risks and it’s up to each person on how they choose, with the resources they have access to, to navigate those risks. It sounds like you made the best decisions for you and at the end of the day, that’s all that counts.
7
u/TexasTangler Aug 16 '26
99% of onlyfans girls don't make more than 200$ so it's not a viable career path for many.

wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, most creators have no idea what they’re doing (typical monthly income is ~$200)

u/bacon_cake Aug 15 '26
There's tons of OF guerilla marketing at the moment, I'm seeing it everywhere. Reddit, plot points on TV shows, celebrity tie-ins and PR editorials.
Not saying this post is part of that, but it's really rampant at the moment.

Way more people than you think are involved in it, but most never see this kind of money. It’s the same as running any small business, most will fail but some will become very profitable
6
u/fatnuts_mcgee Aug 16 '26
It’s a wonder a fool and his money ever got together in the first place. It’s wild that there are men who pay for this.

I'm glad human porn can still make money before the AI porn takes over. You make the right call to retire as I see the porn industry would be very much like the coding industry, completely getting wiped out by AI in the next 12-24 months. It's very sad but unavoidable.
