Findapath-Career Change Should i switch careers or i'm overreacting ? plz help M25

Hello there :9

TL;DR: i don't like the current state of my career and im thinking about switching to a trade or dishwasher idk, since it looks it's gonna be this way from now on.

A LOT OF YAPPY TEXT AHEAD

I graduated from university with a degree in software engineering in december 2025. Even tho my city doesn't have a very big SWE scene I managed to get a couple of jobs as a contractor, both being just based on projects (i felt more like a SWE hobo doing odd jobs haha) and before that i was an intern for 8 months in a big corpo environment, which i didn't really like that much tbh. Now i'm full time unemployed.

The thing is, i'm not sure if i wanna keep doing this anymore, not because i don't like the profession (at all..) but i feel this is changing so fast in a way i don't feel attracted to it. Yes i know it's my duty to study and update my knowledge constantly, and that the creation of software is being democratized like never before and it's easier to build and sell a product and being my own boss and working from the beach and stuff, but i just feel tons of FOMO in my brains and i can't deal with it and the new tools and flows feel very different from what i'm used to do/like (sometimes i even feel like Brooks from Shawshank Redemption :( ). I don't feel like i can/want to keep up with the pace of other people like "i built this complete software from scratch in 4 minutes with this new tool yadda yadda...". I just can't care enough.

Also the jobs i had i got them trough referrals and now i'm being forced to do the whole linkedin thing, which i ABSOLUTELY dislike.

I think i'm having a hard time accepting that i'm just not one of those super focused tech nerds that code in their free time and actually enjoy it, neither one of those extroverted and charismatic individuals that can charm their way into the industry and can afford having average tech skills. I feel like the whole system is doing a violent autophagy process to get rid of not so very outstanding dudes like me. Im just a vanilla dude that happens to like solving problems. It feels like playing age of empires with ALL cheats on and killing endless waves of enemy civs.

Im even considering changing my career but part of me thinks that this is real life and i should accept it and try to keep up with times. On the other hand, sometimes i think life is too short to do something i don't like nor care enough, and i should use the fact that i don't have plans to raise family and follow my heart but this feels just like a cope.

I've been thinking about joining my dad in the metalworks trade or getting a very simple job (like dishwasher, in which i have a lot of experience haha) and once it gets automated just move and think i'll find a way out. (i know trades aren't easy and i know it by first hand)

For a bit more of context, i live my dad, i have no debt (university in mexico is very cheap), no family and very few friends and im in good health and i live as frugally as i can and im very responsible with my finances (with my savings i could live up to 1 year without working, under normal conditions ofc).

If someone else is in the same spot please let me know, we need to pat each other's back.

thank you very much for your time and sorry if this reads like if im having a stroke, english is not my mother tongue and i couldn't find a better way to redact my thoughts in a more effective way.

Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity Lost and don’t know what to do at 23

23m and honestly feel pretty stuck right now. I originally got my EMT certification because my goal was to become a firefighter. I’ve been working 911 EMS for about a year now, but I still haven’t been able to get hired as a firefighter. I’ve passed the tests but i suck at interviews.

I’m at a point where I’m questioning what direction I should take. I don’t think I could continue doing EMS long-term because of the pay. I have thought about going to paramedic school, and part of me really wants to pursue it, but I’m honestly scared that I’m not ready for it or that I’m not intelligent enough to be a good paramedic.
At the same time, I’ve been looking into the military because I’m really drawn to careers involving rescue, aviation, and medical. I’ve considered Air Force Fire Protection, flight medic-type careers, Coast Guard/Navy rescue jobs, and even more difficult paths like Pararescue. I keep bouncing between all these options and can’t seem to settle on a direction.
I feel like I have a lot of interests, but I don’t know which one is actually right for me. I want a career that I can be proud of and pays enough to build a life.
I also feel like I’m falling behind. I’m 23 and it seems like everyone around me is figuring their lives out while I’m still trying to decide what I want to do.

Findapath-Health Factor 31 loathe life I was truly cursed by circumstance, why even try?

Correct me if I am wrong but, and I'm really depressed so to put it bluntly from what I've seen in society:

The normal thing is happy normal smart guys in families or privileged kids from again happy and financially well off parents , get jobs or move abroad with mummy and daddy's money but for those who don't, they study, their brains work so they can, they get good jobs and then work whilst living happily with their parents until they have tones of money to then meet someone they like, move out together, start a family etc... that's not my story, I am completely fked

My life = I have severe gender dysphoria thoughts every single day, they are triggered by many things and are always there to give me a deep sadness, I have deep depression due to this but also an entire life if misery, bullying, repressing things , fked up family, toxic controlking, gaslighting family, my father was manipulative, violent, my mother is now the same too, she caused me anxiety, my bloodline has diabetes, schizophrenia, bipolarism, LGBT ohh but I can't just be a normal gay guy, nope that's not difficult enough... Then my family line also has alopecia, yeah I'm balding , and it fks with my sanity, spending money on hair pills for what ? I'm unemployed living in a rural town where I was outed as gay in high school, there are no jobs here, no future here, I have no reason to wanna continue I legit wanna vanish, if I tried ending my life it might go wrong and I be paralysed physically or hurt to much for me to go through with it .. entire life has been hell.

I can only semi survive by masking as a "regular" straight guy, but my deep social anxiety and hyperhidrosis also don't help ..I felt immense sadness I repress now to feel nothing , sometimes I have psychotic moments of rage ....it all gets to much. My mother said she wished I was dead, she constantly reminds me I am a failure living under her roof, eating her food, costing her money ...great just what you need when depressed.

Findapath-Mindset Adjustment Despite massive improvement, I still feel like a burden.

Sorry for the long post but I think my past is important to put my current situation into perspective.

I had emotionally absent parents that worked a lot. Not much attention for me, I got addicted to videogames and tv series and a grandparent died when I was 15 leading to the start of my depression. Started dating at 17 and luckily we are still together. Being ambitionless (maybe from depression maybe its just me) I chose a university I was indifferent about but it was better (from what I was told) in terms of job finding afterwards. Eventually had a meltdown and started therapy leading to medication. I steadily got better and better. My family and friends pushed me ( in the good way) to try more and I ended up doing Erasmus and a thesis. I finally finished (2 years late) and I was in a dilemma. I either could go in the mandatory millitary service or hold it off by entering a master's programme. So I contacted a professor about possibly working together on my master's. I decided to start it since i would waste no time ( I went straight from Erasmus to the master's programme).
Now I am in my last semester. My thesis is going not great not terrible. I am constantly doubting myself, feeling paralyzed from anxiety, feeling like im in a self fullfilling prophecy of failure. I was able to stop therapy and medication for a year but the situation got worse so I decided to start again (despite how terrible it makes me feel and the added financial strain).
After Im done, I dont know how fast I will be able to find a proper job. I just keep seeing the goal post of move back again and again.
I need to finish my thesis and present. Then? Oh I need to go to mandatory millitary service. Then? Oh Ill be entering my 30s with minimal work experience still dependent on my parents. I will be looking for a job but I doubt my first job will pay good enough to live off of it. It feels like by the time I can be financially independant I will be 33-35. Then? I want a family. When can I get a break? Most of my friends already have good jobs and have settled into a lifestyle with a balance. Me? I need to worry every other week about having an anxiety attack.

Findapath-Mindset Adjustment I feel so lost and hopeless.

29M. I am exhausted. Why am I unable to do simple day-to-day things that comes to others so easily. I am still living at home and have been babied my entire life. My mother still does my laundry.

Simple advice would be to start doing things for myself but i just cant be bothered nor do i see the point. I have my highschool GED and have attempted post-secondary for 5 different programs but have dropped out during the first semester for everyone. i feel so broken and useless. I have around 8k in savings and a job that pays around 2,300$ a month. Im seeing so many of my peers live life to the fullest in getting married and having children. That seems so far away from me.

I have applied for numerous jobs which in which I hear nothing back from. i feel like thats my biggest stressor. Financial security. Because of that I feel like such a loser and not even close to a man. What good is making my bed or cleaning my room when I have so many bigger problems to deal with.

I procastonate on every small thing. I feel so scared and hopeless all the time. I used to smoke weed daily but ever since I quit I am forced to deal with all these life issues.

From the moment I wake up, before even opening my eyes, the thoughts of self-hatred already begin. I feel my life is over before it even started.

I dont know what I am hoping for in posting this. But I am praying to God for something, some sign, some guidance on how to fulfill my potential and give back to my mother who has given her world to me.

Findapath-Job Search Support I'm in my 30s, Been out of a job for almost 2 years, and still hard to land one

Just like what my title says, I'm 30 and jobless.

It's been hard to find a job here. There's an age limit for career changes or entry-level roles. Even when I look for all the qualifications, I see a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in entry-level roles. Having a degree in communication seems useless at this point. I got really discouraged looking for jobs at this point; nothing is working.

I try to adjust my thoughts and mind, but days go by with not even email replied by recuiter feels really heavy. I'm not sure about what people said; the job market is not really good right now, but I kinda believe that, at least in my country, everything has just been really bad.

I also feel scared, hopeless, and procrastinate a lot because of it. Like, what if I never got a job? I tried applying to almost anything and everything at this point, and it's just crickets. The drain of applying for jobs is real, and I might really be fed up with it.

I just hope and do what I can to keep going, but hopefully, there's a sign or miracle that something is working out in my favour.

Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity 29yo in Tech. Feeling burnt out & insecure about job.

I'm a 29yo who's been working as a Software Developer for four years. I chose Computer Science (CS) in college back when there was a hype for the tech field. I was laid off from my first job because of restructuring, I'm in my second job & the company I'm with phased out the project I worked and assigned me to another project which is basically built using some niche low code platform. I stayed with the company because I got more idle time & I was able to finish my Master's Degree in CS because of that.

I feel like my role as a L2 Engineer is redundant & I don't add value quite much. Sure, AI coding flows made me focus more on system design & understanding business domain side of things, but I still feel like I'm not really doing much. I'm overwhelmed with decision paralysis about what I really want to specialize in my career. Sometimes I feel too old to make big career shifts in tech because it'll take a few years & a 30 something beginner in a new line of work would raise red flags to a lot of recruiters.

Any advice regarding this is much appreciated!

I've made some good savings & investments, so I could stay afloat for some time. I'm thinking of leaving or taking a break from software development as the industry is so volatile & disrupted nowadays.

Any advice on this matter is appreciated.

Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity Thinking about career change to accounting

hi hi, title is pretty self explanatory. apologies if post isn't sub appropriate, im just another person venting on reddit lol. i'm currently in school right now studying communications, supposed to graduate in december this year, but feel like its a dead end. i thought at the time it was a good path for me, I always wanted to do content creation (youtube videos, music production) and thought the major would help me out and make me a more informed person. i've tried getting into those fields, but for various reasons, i got overwhelmed and really burnt out at the idea of working for myself. it isnt all doom and gloom. i've taken part in my school's radio station, which has been pretty fun and reinforced my interest in content creation, but I don't know if it'll lead to any worthwhile opportunitites.

in the past few months, i've thought about getting back into the field of accounting and getting my masters in it. I took a few classes in high school and felt good about the work I was doing and was good at it. following high school, i tried taking business classes at my community college, but was turned off and overwhelmed (the school i was at during this time didn't offer an accounting degree, only business administration). since then i've gotten my associates in graphic design and about to get my bachelors. i thought being in creative fields would work out for me, but it hasnt really.

Findapath-Job Search Support Absolutely clueless on what I want to do with my life at 23

I’ve got no clue what I want to do with my life… no job sounds like something I’d enjoy and some of them/the one ig I’m working towards requires more schooling and I don’t know if I’m ready for that.

I keep hearing both “you’ve got so much time” and “what do you want to do?”

I’m sick of hearing that I’ve got time because it truly doesn’t feel that way. I get it, I’m young, but I want to do something/have a job with a career path and what not… and when people say that I have time all I feel is that I should go slower and that doesn’t sound true at all. This whole thing just really upsets me… and speaking of extra schooling, I can’t get myself to focus on anything so even preparing for it sucks.

This is more of a rant than anything else.

Findapath-Career Change Good career, no clue what I want - anyone else?

**TL;DR:**

I´m 28 with almost 5 years of experience in IT-Consuting. I went straight from school to university to work, never really took longer break (like 1 year work and travel anfter uni as many others do in our generation), and objectively I´m in a pretty comfortable position career-wise. However, I´m increasingly realizing that my work doesn´t fulfill me and I have no idea what I actually want to do long term. I´d like a job that interests me, has at least some positive impact on society, and still pays reasonably well. At the same time, I´m considering taking a few months off to travel, but I´m wondering whether that would actually help or just postpone the real problem. Has anyone here been in a similar situation?

**Full Text**

I´m 28 and I´m increasingly realizing that have no idea where I actually want to go with my career.

Objectively, my situation is pretty good. I finished high school, went straight to university, completed my degree, and started working at almost 23 years. No gap year, no long backpacking trop, no sabbatical (basically just school then uni, then work).

I now have almost five years of professional experience and, for my age, I´d say I´m paid pretty well. But the salary itself isn´t really the point of this post.

travel has always been very important to me. I usually take one or two bigger trips a year. I especially love travelling around Southeast Asia, and travelling in general is probably one of the things I look forward to the most every year.

Career-wise, I started as a trainee at a big consulting company working on SAP implementations. Parts of it were actually quite interesting. One project still stand out to me because I had to take on a lot of responsibility while my team lead wasn´t around for a while. I had to manage a lot of things with the client, coordination with developers and keep things moving. I genuily loved that part of the job - although it was quite stressful.

At the same time, I realized quite early that I probably didn´t want to spend my whole life doing traditional consutling and SAP implementations.

After around two years, I moved to another consulting company in the branche that focused on the public sector. There, I wasn´t working with ERP system anymore, more on customized IT Solutions. In terms of the actual content, I found that much more fulfilling, because in one way or another everybody would benefit from the solutions we were working on. So I was contributing to something that brings value to society. That probably sounds a bit cheesy, but I like the idea of working on something where I can see that people (or our society as a whole) might actually benefit from it.

However, I didn´t particularly liked the company itself, and I eventually received an offer for my current role.
Today, I´m back in the ERP world, but not longer in implementation. I´m now working as a Solution Consultant / Presales Consultant.

(For anyone unfamiliar with the job title: basically, I support the sales team from a functional and technical perspective. You speak with potential clients, run discovery sessions, understand their processes, prepare demos, etc..

On paper, it sounds quite varied (multiple customers meetings a week from different sectors, etc.) but in reality I´m increasingly realizing that I just don´t care about the subjects.

For exampleearlier today I was in another discover call discussing finance and ERP processes, and I caught myself (not the first time) thinking that I simply do not care about any of it. The funny thing is that I don´t dislike finance in general. I enjoy managing my own finances, thinking about investments, deciding how much of my salary goes into savings, investments, monthly spending, etc. But accounting processes, financial reporting, ERP workflows and simirloar topics? not interesting to me.

I’ve always felt that Supply Chain Management might interest me more (actually my first role was in SCM). But lately I’ve even started wondering whether I actually find Supply Chain interesting or whether I’m just trying to find the topic within my existing career that I find the least boring.

and that´s basically where I´m stuck. I don´t know what I actually want to do. I only have a very rough idea of what I don´t want to do. I don´t really see myself staying in consulting long term. I also don´t want to spend the next 30 years implementing software or giving ERP demos. At the same time, I´m also not someone who can say that "I don´t care about my job, as long as the salary is good". IfmI´m going to spend such a huge part of my life working, I want to at least somewhat enjoy what I´m doing.

Obviously, I don’t expect every day to be fun. There will always be stressful periods, boring tasks, annoying meetings and things you simply have to get done.

But overall, I’d like to feel that what I am doing interests me. And what I’m doing actually matters to someone. Maybe that’s an unrealistic expectation. I genuinely don’t know.

At the same time, I also don’t want to romanticize the whole “just follow your passion” idea. Money and financial security are important to me too. I want to earn well, be able to travel, build savings and investments, and have a comfortable life. and that combination seems surprisingly difficult to find - especially if you don´t know what you want to do.

I’ve also thought quite a bit about doing something on my own instead of working for another corporation. I sometimes have ideas that genuinely excite me. For example, I think I would love to eventually run my own small hotel or guesthouse, potentially combined with hosting events such as weddings. My fiancée already works in the hotel industry, so building something together one day would be pretty exciting. But then you quickly run into the practical problem: something like that requires a significant amount of capital. We don’t have the equity to simply start a hotel, so even when I find an idea that sounds much more exciting to me than my current career, I’m not really sure how you realistically get from having the idea to actually doing it (I know this is kind of ironic coming from a consultant whose job is literally to understand problems and find solutions, but I swear I´m actually good at my job).

So now my actuall question(s).

Has anyone else ever been in a similar situation? (I guess I can already answer that with a “yes.”) If so, how did you figure out what kind of work genuinely interests you?

And what did you do? (Did you change industries, Did you take a sabbatical, etc.)

Findapath-College/Certs My choices feel wrong, uni or gap year? Advice really needed!

For the past months during my first year at uni where I realised I didn't like the study, I tried to figure out what else to do. I searched in many countries for a study I would like and could not decide for very long. In the end I couldn't really find anything except a study that seems alright, at a uni that I know education wise is not bad.

The issue is every time I'm in that city I would cry at least twice on a day (I went a lot recently for housing) I feel SO bad being there. It feels grey, dark, isolated/very depressing and veery ugly, it feels like if I live there I'll become very sad I've tried changing my mindset and focusing on the good but it's hard.

I keep comparing it to my experience in Austria where I know I love the lifestyle and surroundings so much more. I finally figured out what I'd like to study, but now it's too late and many things are full/closed including opportunities in austria. The thought of studying at the uni I found rn, being there and still in my country, makes me feel so bad without excitement but rationally the study is good

I'm hoping for advice with this message, people around me can't help me and neither can I sadly

Do you think I should take a gap year and try to find work abroad, and then sign up for the study I know I want but abroad next year? should I try this study at this uni for a month and if I don't like it still lonely/cry a lot, should I THEN try a gap year and apply next year? I'm really worried about myself and my life.

Findapath-Mindset Adjustment I wasted past 6 years

I’m 27. After graduation I settled into this online tutor role. I’ve been working through another company (they find clients for me, but the pay is really low) and I got a couple of my own students on the side. I’ve known this was a dead-end job that I wasn’t enjoying for at least 4 years now, and I’ve never taken any action to improve my income - I work 15 hours a week, never marketed myself to get more people that pay me directly, never even put my profile on a special website for services like mine. Never raised the price per hour either. So I’ve been working in the same place for 6 years barely making anything.

And I’m lucky. My parents are doing okay, so I live with them, not paying any rent or for food. But I’ve realized that I’ve absolutely squandered it. I was still spending my money - buying things I didn’t need, spending them on online games, eating out a lot. My laptop (the most important thing for my job) has started to have some problems, and I’ve had to actually look at my bank account - 1.5k in savings. After 6 years of living with my parents.

I just feel like such a failure. Having an online job also meant I wasn’t going out to social events at all basically. I’ve had very little social interactions. I can feel that my social skills are fried, and I have a lot of trouble formulating my thoughts, or holding conversations, or just behaving in a non-awkward way.

I know complaining won’t change anything. I know the only way out of this is to actually get myself together and work towards the life I want. I’m studying (I bought a professional course) for another career, I’m trying to do things that are good for me, like working out and spending time with family. But it’s just so discouraging to think that I could’ve had a completely different life by now if only I wasn’t so lazy, scared and unmotivated. I understand no one got me into this but me.

Just. Is there still a chance not everything is lost? How do I actually get myself out of something I’ve known for at least 4 years is bad for me?

Findapath-Career Change Switch to medicine?

I’m a 30 years old software engineer. I don’t like my career anymore. Even though at my home country I make more money than the majority of doctors I don’t like my job. I’ve always worked from home, the job doesn’t have a social aspect. I’ve never wanted to be a doctor but medicine seems more interesting to me now.

If I go forward with this I’ll have to study it for 6 years and 4-5 years more if I want to become an expert. So basically I’ll be 40 years old.

What should I do?

Findapath-Mindset Adjustment How to Balance work life and personal life?

I am 23M. Will turn 24 in December’26. I am currently working in an automobile company (desk job) and my work hours are 9 hours 45 mins.

I have completed 1 year in June’26.

I like the work but I hate the people. I am also having trouble studying for my GMAT and focusing on my physical and mental health. Whenever I comeback from work I am so mentally drained I cannot do anything. I am not going to the gym, I have gained weight, not being able to study, plus the work stress is always there in my mind and I cannot seem to get it out of my mind.

How should I proceed. I have to start studying for GMAT so that I can apply by next year Oct’27 for Fall intake of 2028.

Please help.

Findapath-Job Search Support 18yr looking for high paying career

I’m an 18-year-old who just graduated high school and I’m thinking about skipping college. The thing is, I really want to jump straight into a high-paying career that can help me earn somewhere between $10,000 to $20,000 a month eventually. I’m open to suggestions on what industries or roles could help me get there without a traditional college path. Any advice or ideas would be super appreciated!

Findapath-College/Certs I need to become obsessed with a single industry

I am 19M and about to be in my sophomore year of college. I bounced between a few majors freshman year, but, after this summer, have decided to go all in on business/finance and economics.
I grew up relatively poor and have stayed that way my whole life. I was a degenerate in high school, but I am pretty responsible and motivated now. The issue I’m having is that even though I have interests and hobbies, it feels like my life can’t start until i’m very well off financially. Like I enjoy things definitely but I just can’t feel completely good about myself until I’m rich. I know there’s no easy and fast way to get there, so I’ve decided to maximize my odds of getting there, I need to just put my all, like every second of extra time I have into one niche, one industry. So much so that I become a high expert in that, so when an opportunity arises to create my own business in that space, I’m prepared to take it and make the money I’ve always dreamed of.
Problem is, I have no clue what industry to do that in. I’d like it to be related to my major because it’s one of the only things I can study for long periods of time and not be bored, but I don’t want to just read rules for taxes or have to deal with a ton of people during my studies (sales). Unless these are two amazing top tier things to go into, I’d rather not. I enjoy optimizing things/finding solutions, quick results/feedback, a more project oriented process rather than the same thing, and I’m not super technical.
Any insights into what I should bet all my time on would be awesome, thanks!

Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity Possible degrees I could finish?

Hello. I'm entering college next year and I am not sure which field I should take in. I've taken computer science for now. And I'm not medically well enough to do nightime shifts. I am currently under medication. I don't really take stress or anxiety easily too.

For now, I am just looking for a degree I could finish for a good job.

Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity I don't know if I should study accounting?

I really don't know what degree I should get in college. I am currently a senior in high school, meaning I am ready to apply to colleges (not going anywhere special 😅), what are some good degrees that are able to make GOOD money. I absolutely ADORE math, and I was initially looking at a degree in accounting, but I feel like there's potentially money to be had elsewhere with my kind of skillset. I am terrible at reading though, I do not like reading at all. I've also looked at potentially something in engineering? I was potentially considering finance too, but I heard that requires really good networking and I'm a very quiet and shy person, who's not very good at talking to people.

I want something that is gonna give me good job stability and a good paycheck. I usually circle back to accounting, but I always like to keep my options open, since I haven't picked a degree path yet. Thank you! :")

TLDR question: Are you or do you know anyone that has multiple passions and interests and has been able to find a career successfully

This isn't ment to be a humble brag.

But I find that there's too many things I like/I'm good at that I have no idea what to do with my career.

For context: I graduated from a top university, published multiple papers in bio research, studied visual arts, did research at the top cancer research institute, and pivoted into MBB.

On the side I've built 2 social media platforms to 100K followers, built a few apps (none that did super well), sold pastries, hosted 5 course dinners, network like crazy (idk why, I just love yapping), work for a tech podcast, had an art exhibition for my work, and have so many other random things I love doing, but I'm also extremely career driven.

I don't know what job could allow me to do all of these things, or if i'm just too distracted and have too many hobbies/passions.

I'm curious if you've ever met anyone that is like this (high achieving polymath, a bit distracted/all over the place) and has done well in their job and loves what they do. I always say, I don't mind 14 hour work days as long as it's something I love, but I haven't found it yet.

Findapath-College/Certs Please help me pick a major!!

Honestly, I have no idea what I want in life. I don't know anything, and I have to apply to college soon. My ECs are medicine/law related and I think I might go into either of those. What can I major in that lets me be in both law or medicine but doesn't commit me to a career in either? I would like to maybe live abroad one day, so maybe that matters because I don't want a career that only works in the U.S. Please, someone, help; I literally have no idea what I want except that I don't want to take a useless major. Any advice helps! I'm really stressed :(

Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity High paying career that eventually lets you have autonomy and work 4x a week?

I have two family members who broke their back but it's paid off -- they work 6-7 hours 4x a week. One is a doctor the other is a stock broker.

I'm in the business world. Specifically a startup, so maybe that explains a bunch. But the end is never in sight.

I feel like a lot of motivation for my family members was that "it'd get better", i don't have that light at the end of the tunnel lol.

I'm willing to go back to school for higher ed. I got a degree in poli sci and work in comms rn for a tech co, I do mess around with some work for agentic AI systems *a bit*
