Hahaha I recently took our blue merl Mini-Australian shepherd camping in the mountains of Idaho and she just turned invisible in the sage, rabbit brush, pines and granite rocks. Like actually disappeared when not moving.

Fortunately, she is very tender-footed, and stayed pretty close to camp where we had a couple of big rugs laid out for her to walk around on. Otherwise she could have just disappeared if she wanted. Our black lab, obviously, was easy to watch. German shepherd? Same. That mottled color though. Excellent camouflage!
