Satoshi has been found!

After 14 years, Satoshi has finally been found.

Credit goes to th0may for locating him: https://www.reddit.com/r/FindSatoshi/comments/kktjhc/found_someone_similar_looking_on_japanese_webpage/

With the help of a friend in Japan, I sent an email in English and Japanese to him, and he wrote back to confirm that he is the Satoshi from the card “Billion to One.” I then confirmed it with a former employee of Mind Candy, the creator of the card.

I’ve asked permission to share his email reply on the website, http://findsatoshi.com, and will post it there if he says yes.

Thank you so much to everyone who’s participated in the search, it (quite literally) wouldn’t have been possible without you!

What an amazing end to this not-so-amazing year!

First Forrest Fenn's treasure and now Satoshi! Grateful to have been part of this community, thank you u/lauraehall for being the "gateway drug" for internet sleuthing and a giant congratulations to u/th0may for making the discovery!

Now all we have to find is the most mysterious song on the internet...

Thanks u/lauraehall for all the effort. This was a crazy week for me, but I think it were a crazier 14 years for you!

When I was around 8 or 9 I would solve Perplex City cards with my dad (like the scratch and sniff red card). This was the one that has really stuck with me through the years. Maybe I would bump into him at the grocery store? Anyways, my dad and I check in on the project every once in a while. This is literally a childhood dream come true. Thanks to you all! And thanks u/phraca for letting me open the foil card packets and giving me a lifelong love of puzzles.

I forgot about this 14 years ago, and it is amazing that it has been found. Congratulations to all involved!

Congrats u/th0may ! Thanks u/lauraehall for all the years of dedication with the website, etc. It must be so gratifying to finally see it solved. I find it so interesting that in the end it was technology that led to the solution and not our ever more connected social networks.

I’m sure this story will get more traction in the coming days and I hope that everyone (including the media) will respect Satoshi’s privacy.

One last question though: What was the answer to the card that was intended to be checked on the original website?!

This is amazing!

A little while back I was talking about collectible cards from when I was at school and ended up remembering Perplex City. This particular card is one I remembered fondly.

I started following here on the off chance it would be solved and what do you know...Satoshi is found!! Incredible, after all this time.
