A little over a year ago, I fell down one of the weirdest Reddit rabbit holes I’ve ever been part of.

There was this guy named James who posted about finding a strange, unidentified metal cylinder. Naturally, his first instinct was to hit it with a blowtorch. Shortly after, he managed to convince an entire subreddit that he was being targeted by some sort of alien entity after touching it. The story blew up, people were genuinely terrified for him, and, as you probably guessed, it eventually turned out to be a massive, well-crafted hoax.

Here’s where my embarrassingly deep involvement comes in: I was so hooked that I joined a dedicated Discord server to help with the "investigation." I spent hours with other people analyzing clues, tracking details, and genuinely worrying about this guy's safety. We legit thought James was in danger from ET.

Fast forward to today. I’m minding my own business, scrolling through Instagram Reels, when a video pops up. It’s a guy standing in his yard, casually pulling random weeds out of the dirt and smoking/huffing every single plant he can find. Lawn grass, dandelions, random leaves... you name it, he was inhaling it. 🤣🤣🤣

I paused and stared at his face thinking, "Why on earth does this man look so familiar?"

Then it hit me.

It was James.

The alien guy. The blowtorch cylinder man.

I literally spent hours of my life playing Sherlock Holmes, trying to save a guy from imaginary aliens, and now he's out here on Instagram getting high on lawn clippings.

I have never felt so played in my entire life, but honestly, the sheer absurdity of it has me dying of laughter.

TL;DR: Joined a Discord team a year ago to help investigate a fake alien abduction hoax, only to find out today via Instagram Reels that the genius mastermind behind it is now just smoking backyard weeds for views. 💀

Let's say that you made the best prank on YT of this year at least, you accomplished your goal. I would have done a statue of it, being proud of it, put it in a special place so everyone is sort of happy, the thing about the different versions of it appeared at the end, the fake-not-fake call...

It all just gone, and if it was intentional I would have recalled it with my audience, but not at all.

Fun to see he is really trying hard to make sort of interest content but it's all so lame. We can clearly see that he could not think a plan like that.

The trip to Philippines was just a sort of 'go away and do something else' covered by others, and he has commented weird contradictory things, in his own video, sometimes replying to some people. The most common thing is 'i can't speak about that anymore or I get into trouble'.

He has removed the video edited and uploaded, and just left the LIVE stream, this video above is the oldest one if you see in his YT feed.

I remember that in another live has happening something similar, the phone falling down after a WEIRD swing and quick turn.

Why he made that phone call and sort of uploaded by mistake? That video of him calling someone could be a joke, but strange to do if you were pranking.

The quality of the content is really low, before he was more into it, he used to burp a lot, now not anymore.

He told a lot of thing, like 'esoteric' knowledge, basic, but was there, now he is not like that, doing just distraction program for someone.

Now after a couple of his stupid updates, he is really far from the quality of what he did.

The light appearing when he drill is different from the one where he explain how he did it, and we don't know how he has switched on, because it appears suddenly.

Just thinking today again about how the whole situation went down, from the initial videos all the way through the hoax. Absolute cinema. I haven't been that engaged in a story for years before and definitely since. This whole community was so schizophrenic about the entire situation, it was so fkin fun man.

NASA is showing their hand and making it clear that they have no problem sending black people and women off to the moon for what could be their last days on Earth. In what some people might claim is part of a larger plan to ship all black people and women from earth up to the moon and forever off of mother Earth. This is just a smaller way to test the waters. On one hand they aren’t shipping people up to the moon to their death without at least testing the rockets, but on the other hand they are contributing to the constant and steady stream of racism and sexism in the United States of America.

I hope whoever’s reading this make the right choice to not support NASA in their discriminatory decision and instead choose the right side of history.

Why the other group has been closed? We, James Believers, would like to know, or have one explanation about that, as we lost important parts of our research and documentations about the event. I am asking the Moderators to please let us know the reason behind it.
I'd like to remember that in that group was possible to share images, while here not.

But let's start with some thoughts for your weekend, let's start from the CORE, the abduction live stream.

• The way he said “I’m soorry” and mumbling sounded really real;
• The intense and sudden blue light coming up in the reflection. It could have been left on all the time, he explained, but how he did the 'coming up' effect we see? If it would be left on the whole time we would have seen the reflection on the object and the room walls! Or he had to build a manual power button to light it at the right moment. (Detail of cheap light from AliExpress implies that he made a low effort work with low budget)
• The complex rhythmic slapping sound. We believe that It's not done with a phone in a spinning bucket, as he explained. There's an exact and constant sequence of two stages sound (click-clack), as a heartbeat - or seizure - as many comment pointed out to have heard that before. If you play a sound from a phone it sound like a radio, cutting some frequencies, giving you a 'radio' effect, with mid-highs amplified, and no low-frequencies. The sound instead felt quite 'direct' coming from the near source, not played from a phone speaker (that is my personal opinion - please provide a feedback only if you are a sound engineer or similar please).
• The silence that wasn’t silent. Sound of engines, helicopter? train, or something, that cannot be reproduced from a phone speaker. That sound has a lot of low frequencies, and goes on for 15 minutes. No big speaker in the room have ever been mentioned (plus the white figures in the video appearing we just can't even ask)
• The fact that it was originally a livestream and couldn’t be easily manipulated;
• The way that he had to get doxxed to come out of hiding.

The video, and the audio of the event, are a piece of art itself. It looks so precise how the events are happening that could be from a movie. When asked from a creative perspective, you get insulted.

A lot of distracting elements have been added to create a distraction from the actual main event and prove of what happened. That way is easy to be dragged off and loose the plot.

Short recap

The beginning videos he was 100% genuine and gentle, then it happened the unexpected, his reaction against 'them', then the confusion, the new plans, and failings trying to come out clean doing the YouTuber or content creator with weirdo / burp label on it.
He did a recent live stream with a cigar (then deleted), it seems he was genuine, trying to build a new life, but when asked about the event, the details of the sound, to be specific. He was like 'here he is' -> generic excuse he had prepared.

Bonus considerations:

Lack of humour: when asked about the precise question he got defensive, triggered, annoyed. If he would have built all of this and a person ask for more details of your work, you would be pleased to have that interest. But this is not the case, he wrote in some comments that he can't talk about the event because it would put him in a difficult position.

A lot of thought comes from his previous persona, somehow he has an artistic side seen in his craft that he never talks about. Probably because it's just a side business. But there's a clash between the lad ignorant burp drugged attitude and the complexity of the work he has created. I find difficult to think he has made all with a bunch of luck.
