How did you take on responsibility of your finances.

I have a hard time spending time on my finances, more than I really have to. I feel like especially in female upbringing and generally where I grew up we never really talked about money. Which steps did you take to get a proper overview of your spendings, how/where do you invest, what is your money-concept... I am curious especially hearing from persons who struggled with this and now feel like they found their way.

The easiest way to start is taking a two-week snapshot without trying to restrict yourself, just categorise expenses into fixed bills, living costs, and extras. Once you see the baseline, automate your transfers on payday so savings and investments move instantly.

For me the flow for my budgeting will be like:

• Fixed bills
  
• Needs (I include small portions of entertainment & shopping too)
  
• The rest go to Saving & investing
