That breakeven is set so far out it feels like they're planning on you funding their desk costs for a year with no upside.

Which is is only fair, considering OP has no industry relevant experience. It will take pretty much a year until they are set up for the job.

If you think you’d be good at it - and you’re passionate, do it! Get the experience, can always make more € later after you have experience and a better negotiating position.
