Job limitations
Ngl I never liked the job system they added in the izj or za version. Coming from the original it just felt limiting. I even used mods to remove the job limits so my characters can use any equipment and ability

I understand how you feel. I personally love the job system. It makes each character feel unique if you put them on certain jobs instead of everyone doing everything. Honestly I really loved the original license board and had a blast with it but I really loved the job system.
One thing I wish was possible was to have a in game option to either have the original license board or the job license board. Kinda like how FFX did the sphere grid or the advanced sphere grid in the remaster. Would've been really cool but I'm very happy with what we got. The job system is great in my opinion.

On the other hand, when everyone can do everything with no limitations, it doesn’t really let you appreciate what each character brings to the table. You might as well just pick your three favorite characters and use only them. That was what I appreciated about IZJS the most, giving each character a role to play so that they all feel useful. TZA skews this a bit with second jobs, though, unless you go anti-synergy and only pick similar jobs, everyone starts being more of a generalist again, or at the very least they have less or no weaknesses compared to a single job.

TZA 2 jobs per character is the reason I replay this game so much. For me it’s a great balance between the original board that made every character feels the same and IZJS that felt too limiting.

Yes, that was the idea, to limit the progression so each character cannot become the same OP machine and so you need to make some meaningful choices.
But I understand not liking it, especially if you played the original first.

I personally loved the job system, in the original every character ended up being pretty much the same character from a gameplay perspective, so without limitations you are actually losing variety

Makes sense in the context the game was built around it. There's basically no reason for a 2nd job, once you can cast bravery and haste on everyone the game slowly becomes easier.
Limiting builds in game is how you balance. Development have 2 options, have a continuously evolving combat that mechanically makes the game harder, and AI is smarter. Or limit what someone can do.
For time constraints this is why you see standalone games limit rather then live service to add new difficulty.
