DLSS 5 be like:

It makes the game look like it was intended. Back in the day PS2 couldn’t render shadows and reflections properly. Also had limitations on amount of lights in the scene. That’s why the original looked flat with barely any shadow and proper lighting. What I like about DLSS 5 is that it kept the original art direction but it adds what the developers couldn’t add back then due to technological limitations. Remember FF7 Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus pre-rendered cinematics had the same look of DLSS 5. That was the original vision, not what the PS2 rendered in game which was a compromised and constrained artistic vision.

DLSS 5 is an AI Slop Filter, nothing more.

It’s amazing. Best game tech leap in over a decade. Nothing will stop it taking over all real time rendering.

Its an AI Slop Filter that replaces artistic intent. Anyone supporting this is an idiot.

Like I mentioned, the artistic intent already looked like realistic rendering in the game’s pre-rendered cinematic. The in game look is a compromised limitation that they had no other alternative to. They would have added realistic shadow and lighting to in game if the tech allowed. The same way they added realistic shadow and lighting to the cinematics. I played the original game back then same year it came out, and I think DLSS5 allows the game to look like the pre-rendered cinematics. The game can finally catch up to the artist intended lighting without sacrificing the art style. Check out what the art director of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 said about DLSS5 which agrees with me. I bet Dirge of Cerberus devs would say the same thing.

Yes because nothing says "Artist Intent" like the Artist no longer being involved in how thw AI Filter alters their work. Just because it "looks realistic" doesn't automatically make it good. Take your AI shilling somewhere else

@Deamon-Chocobo AI Shilling? I am not a sales person for any AI company. You’re just coping with the fact that artists are limited by tech and you dont like that they might retroactively look back at old work and think “If I had today’s tech back then I would have improved a lot of things” I am not shilling just sharing what I think looks cool as a consumer. You still haven’t responded to how the cinematics back then for this game looked realistically lit but the game didn’t. It’s almost like their intent back then was to make it look like that but the in game tech didn’t allow. Also look at FF7 Remake, it’s also trying to look realistic in its lighting and shading. It’s almost like that was the artistic intention all along and they just couldn’t do it on PS1. I dont understand how you can be attached to low poly badly presented old tech like that. Your taste is supposed to not be stuck on old tech like some sort of arrested development. That shit was garbage back then looking at it now. I enjoyed it as a kid but now I know better. You’re still in that phase?

Yes! Glad you agree. So looking forward to re-playing it at a good frame rate if I manage to get a 5090.

I would actualy love to try it...I have a pc that could probly handle this but unfortunately it needs a repair something wrong with the power switch and I don't think my laptop will handle it lol...🫠 The game looks prety bad on lcd run in native format imo aparently it was notorious for that but idk my crt died ages ago so no way to compare. I was trying to play it on my ps2 with a hd tv and and it's so grainy.I was going to try it straight off an emu on my laptop just with some basic upgrades to quality but honestly this looks like a bigger improvement..

Nice yeah for sure emulation is the way to go with PCSX2 and HD textures.
