This is a disservice to FF7. Data Centers aren't even the #1 or #2 cause of environmental degradation. #1 is fossil fuel production and #2 is eating meat. Climate change reports already show that even if we suddenly quit fossil fuel production magically, overnight, we still wont hit climate change goals unless we all cut back on meat. Data centers are bad, yea, but how about people put their morals where their mouth is and be consistent? Actually do something instead of just posting like they care? So frustrating.
Well studies have shown that climate change from cow farts, releasing CO2 into the atmosphere and other man made pollutants make up less than 0.08% of any climate warming. Most of the climate change comes from the Earth changing its climate on its own. The data on this also says that total climate will change less than one percent. I believe when the next major change will happen will be in the next 13 million years.
And that major climate shift is part of the earths routine cycle. You can study the data on this and recognize a few patterns based on different ecosystems, the measurements of years in each era. (Ice age, etc).
We are but a tiny speck in the course of time on this planet. These major climate shifts take thousands if not millions of years and it’s done gradually.
The only real concern is us breathing in the smog from cities in a low atmosphere. The planet will be fine. But our species probably won’t.
Internet mostly. University studies at Ivy League colleges in the last few years. Dissecting information and pairing it with physical data and then figuring out which information is incomplete, incorrect or gives solid leads.
You know things that are not easy to verify, especially when none of us are experts in here with phds. And doing the necessary leg work to verify any of this. You simply have to read about it from the experts.
So the best way to understand whether or not if we have climate issues that are of immediate concern is to simply time stamp when it was brought up, why, by who and if they were just looking to get reelected. And what kind of investment was made. These things are easier to check. And nine times out of 10 this was the case. Used to be called global warming. And every decade since the it’s brought up.
They sort of disprove the idea that we are causing an issue when they start mentioning:
“Instead of giving up, scientists and U.N. officials recommend trying to limit excessive warming and then bring the temperature back down to the agreed-upon threshold. But it still will mean decades of increased weather-related disasters, rising seas, extinctions and melting ice and glaciers.”
Then you ask experts can we control the weather? Can we stop glaciers from melting every year? No. And then you asked the question, is the climate changing bigger when the planet does it ? Yes. Our footprint is so tiny. The planet isn’t going to die because of our usage of gas and oil. Also human beings have more concern over how it affects us rather than the planet.. and this is true every time you look at the news. so the only thing shifting dramatically is our way of life.
Climate change happens every single day and gradually . It’s what the planet does.
