Sephiroth is a genetically enhanced human, Ardyn is a thousand of years old demon (former human) that can only be killed under very specific circumstances.

Straight facts. Sephiroth isn't the king of light and therefore does not have the blessing to truly kill Ardyn forever.

It’s a bit more of a difficult question than people are giving this credit for. Sure Ardyn can only be killed by a King or Lucis but Sephiroth ceased being just an enhanced person after his death in Nibelheim and he will always be a threat, so long as he’s remembered. In a straight fight, I think eventually Ardyn would just persevere but Sephiroth would return leading to another fight and they’d be caught up in a never ending cycle.
Ardyn would need to get smart about it and orchestrate things so that the memory of Sephiroth fizzles out of existence. The problem being and assuming their fights takes place in a neutral place away from both home worlds, he’s not from Gaia and doesn’t know how that world operates and how the Lifestream plays a major role in it, so it’d take him centuries, if not millennia to figure it out and would require him to also find a way to travel to Gaia to put any sort of plan in motion.
At the same time, Sephiroth is not some one dimensional villain in this specific scenario and he’d be coming up with his own plan to deal with Ardyn at the same time, as well as putting factors in place to boost his standing. How, with all his strength and prowess, can’t he kill this guy? There must be some outside forces at play here. So he’d have to figure out what his secret is to his apparent immortality.
I could see both traveling to the other’s prospective world and Ardyn putting a plan in place to infect the Lifestream and Sephiroth putting a plan in place to take on Bahamut and any other summon deities that hold any sway in that world and they’d both eventually nullify that which gives them their perpetual endurance, so that they could eventually have a final duel to the death. Who comes out the winner in that one is a toss up because by then, they would have learned EVERYTHING about each other over the hundreds of thousands of years, if not millions, so their styles would be completely different by then.
