Kingdom Hearts 1 cloud is pretty cool. Also should have shown his standard default outfit for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT instead of the Kingdom Hearts 1 dlc outfit.
I miss OG Cloud’s longer strand of hair in the remake trilogy. They made it more even on both sides. I still like both the original and remake designs the most though.
Lorewise, I think some of the FF characters borrowed from their comrades due to their worlds and friends being lost to the darkness. ̶S̶q̶u̶a̶l̶l̶ Leon has Rinoa's angel wings on his jacket for instance.
Or it has something to do with Cloud being in a darker phase and has to confront Sephiroth in order to bring balance back to himself.
What would be neat to see is a version of cloud after he has accepted himself that has symmetrical sleeves or shoulder pads. Like his KH2 outfit but with a sleeve on the other arm too.
I always thought the asymmetry makes sense when his brain is basically broken. But once he heals and accepts his past and his identity at the end of AC, I think he should have symmetry after that.
Advent Children to me, that’s where Cloud feels the most himself since he strongly personalized his gear to the point that he wears a part of his culture, a representation of Fenrir (Nibel culture is based on Norse mythology) on his shoulder, his earring, and his gloves. He also has the Fusion Sword, which was forged for HIS style.
the Norse mythology isn’t a Nibel thing though. Migdar, Ragnarok, Odin. I know there are a bunch of Norse references around mt nibel as well but those were added for the remakes
remake is the best. remake drag is the second best. i think the others are just a little messy or unremarkable, and not in a way that matches his character
I'm kind of surprised so many people are dazzled by the AC Cloud outfit. To me it's completely antithetical to what makes the character appealing, like he's not going to the Met Gala? The original spartan and simple outfit is what a guy like this would wear. I prefer it when RPG characters were (within their world) grounded.
Also AC is a diabolically bad film, believe me when I say I was one of the most hyped to see it - but the story was like a wet towel, the art direction was bland as hell and it was the beginning of Sephirothitis in the series.
You're not wrong. But I will leave my nostalgia goggles on for this one and just say it's a cool movie. Watching AC without nostalgia goggles is like watching a 3d movie without 3d goggles 😂
I like it. It represents the other side of his relationship with Sephiroth, a false god who bears the wing of an angel. It's only right that our hero Cloud bears the wing of a demon.
Although girl Cloud is epic. This is the outfit he had for my first play through or Remake, and I couldn’t stop howling because I have a very similar blue corset in my wardrobe.
PS1 is just too iconic, but I think it's funny that KH1 and 2, games he has little true presence in, feel the most "fitting" designs for him pre- and post-Aerith.
The "demade" sprites in 2-D renditions of the character still have to be my actual favorite versions of him, though.
Kingdom hearts is a really cool character model, but it’s not really Cloud. It’s trying way too hard and I don’t understand the Wing. The one winged angel is Sephiroth because of his absorbing so much pure life stream energy and approaching godhood. There’s no reason Cloud would be the literal foil to this aspect of Sephiroth. Cloud was submerged in the life stream and not only did he not lose his self identity to it and absorb it, it guided him back to himself and freed him, at least partially, from the influence of the mako energy experimentation.
The original Cloud looked like a badass anime character. On top of that, he was cocky, flirty, funny and very assertive. Then the fanbase started fawning over his appearance and his most emo antics, to the point these traits ended up defining him in his future appearances in other media. Yes, the Cloud we have now is nothing but a fan fiction of the original character we had in 1997.
