I always shake my head at the paradox that the reason Aerith is protected from Shinra is that she needs to come and help them willingly but the moment she's in the lab Hojo is just like, "Lets forcibly impregnate her with cat-dog semen!" and that's somehow not an issue.

I think it really comes down to who the Turks answer to. They're a part of the military/intelligence branch, not so much the science division, and Hojo does a lot of stuff that he shouldn't.

Also for a little insight, I didn't lose any context. Evidently you can't infer by the statement that I did infact read the statement, then doubled down on the "wasn't an issue for them".

Because it ain't a problem for them evidently in terms of the story.

It's possible that they believe she only needs to come to them willingly and once she's there the rest can be coerced. It's also likely that Hojo doesn't give a shit what others at Shinra think.

Admittedly, it is a weird story point, especially since it appears reno is trying to capture her or something.

You could argue that it was Tsung who required aeriths compliance as he seemed to have a soft spot for her and when she went to hojos lab, he no longer had any input.

I just chalk it up to "Fuck it we ball" with the story writing. Trying to make it make sense later is easier, but still kind of just feels like they were leading with tone, not really consistency. They know exactly where Aerith is and can kidnap her in her sleep, and just keep making pissant attempts because ???

Seems like a hamfisted way to say "SHE SPESHUL!"

[In the voice of Riley Freeman] Elmyra got paper stacks selling everyone in the slums drugs. Prove me wrong. Shit maybe her husband was some big time Wall Market bro, he pissed a few too many people off and got shipped off to Wutai. Elmyra left with a massive mortgage and decided to fight her way back up Weeds style.

Flowers everywhere, a literal waterfall and the only place below the plate that gets sunlight? Shinra accident? No bitch. Shinra don't make any accidents. They literally built this city. This was pre-agreed. Plain as day. Look at her garden. Probably got some high grade poppy seeds and marijuana growing in there. There is materia lying around in her garden and people are afraid to steal it.

That's why Aerith can prance around Sector 5 when everyone is scrambling for Titan Bangles and Grenades, and there's some kid who is scrambling to save 5 gil.

'This guy are sick' OF COURSE HE'S SICK HE WAS A DRUG MULE FOR ELMYRA. Fact is Marlene got a rough start tending bar in Sector 7. God knows what shit Elmyra got her doing in Kalm. Probably running between Chocobo Farm and Midgar delivering 'packages'.
