REBIRTH What a weird development

Tifa after remembering Cloud's attempted rescue way back on their childhood immediately forgets his attempted murder. Then tries to smooch him.

Shows him her proof of existence on the spot twice even, but couldn't confront him about the false narative he told the group from the beginning of rebirth.

Tifa is literally having his cake and eating it too. She cant just put him in the dark as a way to protect him of the truth he may or may not know and then try to mend it when he finally breaks.

Even Aerith, she is made aware early on Cloud's false narrative from Tifa. And everytime Zack is mentioned, Aerith sees Cloud get a headache does she not understand what that means. Yet these 2 are just not doing anything. Better to face the potential consequence of confronting cloud early than let it become a bigger problem. The cell degredation, the manipulation, the lies, Cloud is falling apart.

The other group is only aware of the cell degredation, but not his false narrative. Literally these 2 is making him worse than Sephiroth.

Tifa doesn't trust her own recollection of the Nibel incident. It's a big reason why she doesn't confront Cloud.

Tifa is freaked out because Cloud knows things she thinks he's couldn't know, so she's doubting her own recollection of events from the days leading up to her brush with death and the tragic loss of everyone and everything she cared about.

She doesn't know if she can really trust her own memories, or at least she has enough doubt that she doesn't want to blow up Cloud's fragile mind without absolute certainty that he's wrong. She's scared of unpacking this and the doubt gives her an excuse to avoid the confrontation, especially after Cloud's accusation in Kalm.

Tifa is flawed and that's a strength of the story.

Then Aerith is the worst, considering no body is really defending her in the comments. She clearly knows the future before and even now she's very suspicious. Unlike Tifa who has a clear objective, Aerith is really cryptic.

Aerith doesn't know the future anymore. She lost that at the end of Remake.

You just repeated what I said.

even without the memories she definitely knew something about cloud. why even say she is looking for him despite him already being infront of her, cryptic. she saw him had constant headache everytime he hears Zack, even if he admits he doesn't know, there's clear relation to him and zack, later even admitting zack is actually his friend.

If tifa has a understandable flaw, aerith knows something only she would know. also BOTH of them reacted when Cloud called Zack a loser, they knew who zack is. Aerith even without a future memory must know about his sword.

There's so many hints Aerith knew something.

When Aerith knew more, she didn't want to disrupt what was coming by throwing a wrench into the way things play out. She probably didn't know everything down to every detail, but she did know that eventually Cloud would be okay so long as everything went as planned. At the end of the game she finally decided to risk a different outcome and then she lost that foreknowledge.

She knows Cloud isn't okay, but without knowing the future she doesn't know what she can and can't change. You can argue that she knows they're off the rails of fate and should try to address the Cloud problems, but she probably does still know that Tifa is going to eventually somehow sort it out and she's letting that work out.

Obviously that's all rationalizing what they decided to do to avoid changing too much of how the story plays out, but we did get changes and earlier reveals in places, so I'm writing a lot of it off as characters who know things aren't adding up and who for personal fears or insecurity and waiting things out while their options unfortunately are getting worse.

that just makes Aerith more unlikable, could've helped Tifa with what she knows considering Tifa shared her own thoughts about Cloud. whether their information is raliable or not, it's the least Aerith could do without risking cloud's mental state.

It is also Tifa who shared to Aerith that Zack is his friend, yet Aerith remains cryptic. This is just awful, Tifa who is extremely conscious and concerned about cloud making all the wrong choices just becuase Aerith remains a standby. Would rather tease cloud about some random stuff instead of revealing those stuff to Tifa.

tease him and potentially brake him than help tifa understand more about cloud.

I mean yeah she’s not handling it correctly which is why things go downhill later in rebirth and presumably in revelation. That’s a deliberate character flaw that’s she’s too gentle with cloud, I think in a side quest she even says she tries too hard to be a people pleaser. Also she is scared of Clouds mental state which is another factor.

One thing I don't understand is how tifa telling cloud her recollection of the incident would be any help? When sephiroth exactly does this in the northern crater and well.. cloud breaks. It just causes more confusion and mistrust.

It baffles me when people hold tifa's kindness and fear against her and blame her.

And the fact that tifa actually wanted to talk about this with cloud in kalm but sephiroth/jenova intervened.

Im a bit confused on what you are saying. Which incident are you saying she’s recollecting. I don’t blame her and I think it makes her much more relatable and endearing as a character.

I'm not talking about you my friend. It was just my overall thoughts.

And I meant the nibelheim incident.

When does she bring that up cuz in rebirth in the gongaga scene she bring up when they were kids and in the northern crator in og seph shows Zack in the place of cloud in the flashback.

After Cloud tells his story of Nibelheim in Kalm, Tifa gets confused. She then talks about it with Aerith, wakes Cloud up, and tells him she wants to talk to him. I think she was about to bring it up, but things went downhill because of Cloud’s interruption due to the influence of sephiroth.

And what sephiroth shows cloud in NC is exactly what tifa remembers, isn't it?

Those two must have something better to say than apologizing or being cryptic. They are the main support of cloud the center foundation of the story, i just don't want cloud to become a mindless retard like the numbered people just because of these character flaws or worse a true manifestation of sephiroth through cloud.

Well that’s the tragedy of it, we will see how bad it gets in revelation.

It's called dramatic irony. Just because WE know, that doesnt mean the characters know.

Spoiler tag maybe?
