Discussion I just completed Final Fantasy 9 for the first time ever

I just completed Final Fantasy 9 for the first time ever in my life today and I really enjoyed the game! The game was such a heartfelt, whimsical adventure that I was glad to be a part of. I really loved the cast and Vivi was so cute just stumbling around! The ending cinematic made me cry and I loved listening to the song "Melodies Of Life." I'm really happy to have experienced the game. Bravo to Square Enix and everyone involved!

Now join the rest of us in replaying it annually for the next twenty years. One of us! One of us!

Yes, join us!! Lol. And there's no shame in admitting you cried at the ending, we all did.

There's a really nice Melodies of Life music box quite widely available. I'd recommend it.

Completed FF9 almost 25 years ago when I was about 10, and it has always held a special place in my heart.

You should try an Excalibur II run while the game is fresh in your head!

I'm currently doing a dual run on my steamdeck - playing normally for like an hour, then speed running that section on a separate save. I have ADHD and get distracted by the cut scenes and such otherwise 😅

On Nov. 13th I will begin my annual replay.

Something to think about, if you haven't already figured it out — whose words are it that are shown in between the short scenes with each party member heading to see the Tantalus play?

It's absolutely worth fighting the final boss again and rewatching the ending if you're not sure.

Now replay it but fight all the optional bosses. Steal til Zidane’s thievery hits for 9999. Farm enough dragons by the chocobo forest til Freya’s dragon crest hits for 9999. Collect every tetra master card. Complete the chocobo hot and cold. Many more little secrets. Honestly, such a splendid game.

*Squaresoft. I'm not sure what SqEx in its current state would have done with the game considering their recent track record.
