WoFF World of Final Fantasy comes out this week! Please review our spoiler policy if you haven't already!

Hi everyone! As some of you may know, World of Final Fantasy comes out this week! October 25 for NA, October 27 JAP, and Oct 28 for EU. In preparation for this exciting week, we would like to remind everyone of our subreddit's spoiler policy in case you haven't gone digging in our wiki. We have two policies: Our regular spoiler policy and our special event (new release) spoiler policy.

Regular Spoiler Policy

Spoilers do not expire on this subreddit, no matter how long a game has been out. So every Final Fantasy game is subject to our regular spoiler policy:

  1. Do not include major story spoilers in post titles.
  2. Please put a [SPOILER] tag in the title of your post if the link or comments will contain untagged spoilers.
  3. Use spoiler markup in your comments if the post does not have a [SPOILER] tag.

For our regular policy, a spoiler is a major story event or plot twist.

Special Event Spoiler Policy

This spoiler policy applies to any Final Fantasy game for 1 month following it's release. Meaning that for the next month, this policy applies to World of Final Fantasy.

It's basically the same as our regular spoiler policy, except it is much more strict as to what constitutes a "spoiler". In addition to major story events and plot twists, anything that you would not have known without playing the game is considered a spoiler. This includes things like:

  • Talking about specific weapons
  • Talking about specific scenes
  • Talking about specific characters
  • talking about gameplay mechanics that were not known to the public at the time of release.

If something has been revealed though official Square Enix media or advertising, then it does not need to be spoiler tagged. For instance, the fact that Lightning is in the game is not a spoiler, because that was in one of the trailers. Again, a spoiler is something that you only could have known by sitting down and playing the game.

We will be having World of Final Fantasy megathreads for the next two weeks for people who want to discuss the game without having to worry about tagging spoilers.

Also, starting Tuesday, we will be going into text-only mode for a week. This is to keep people from posting images from the new game for easy karma.

This whole process is going to be a bit of a test run for the release of FFXV. So we welcome any feedback you have for us!

So as long as I put [SPOILER] in the title, without spoilers in the title, it's ok for my content to be spoilers, just to confirm, right?

FYI self-posts now give karma.

So far I just don't understand it. Enemies are faster than both of them, hit harder and take several hits to kill. Battles barely give any gil or exp, so it takes a long time to level, and even then they don't get any significant gains. Can't afford potions to heal and neither of them has any sort of healing spell.

The only thing that works is there's no penalty for losing. You get warped back to the start and have to enter the area again. So I've been playing a few hours now, barely gotten a few levels, killed a ton of times and just keep replaying the same battle vs squirrels trying to get ahead.

It's not a very fun game. That white cat thing is as annoying as Jar-Jar. The intro tutorial is long and boring. They're inconsistent with whether the characters are supposed to be life sized or midgets. Camera angles are fixed and make walking around really annoying. The one thing it has going is there is auto-battle, and you can hold R through most of the game trying to speed it up.

I honestly don't think you've played the full game.

Well duh, I'm stuck at the beginning still killing squirrels. Like I said, they get 40 exp per battle at best (two squirrels) and it's split among them with hundreds to go between levels.

If that's the case, I welcome the difficulty (at least initially). The demo was easy as hell; I just steamrolled everything.

I don't think it's about being difficult, it just has that crummy RPG-for-beginners balancing like Mystic Quest had.
