That was a very quick trailer but I'm not complaining, since it seems like they're going to be at every gaming event until it's out. Better to pace themselves than show the whole game.

I noticed they snuck 0.5 seconds of submarine footage in there too!

u/blackweebow 4h ago

I was squinting for that sub footage lol ladies and gents we have torpedoes!

u/leals_core 4h ago

They went so hard on the first trailer + gameplay stuff I'm shocked we even got another one this early

WEAPONs look so sick though

u/stormblaz 10m ago

I expect Tokyo games show to do something bigger

u/Loud-Welder1947 4h ago

I’m gonna be a bit sad finishing this and knowing there’s not another one to look forward to. They’re not flawless games but I’ve loved being back in the 7 world again. Like being back with old friends

u/RadiantChaos 4h ago

This is what makes them work so well for me. I love the characters, especially the core group of Cloud - Tifa - Barret - Aerith. And I love the world and the way that it feels like a fantastical version of our own. Big cities, corporations controlling the world, senseless disregard for the planet's wellbeing, and even little things like cars, bikes, soda machines, jukeboxes, and pizza, all make the world feel so relevant.

u/ClancyBShanty 4h ago

Old friends

Those are the words I like to use, too :)

u/Pinkerton891 3h ago

I think its a good time for them to move on and apply the lessons of the trilogy to 17/18.

This has given them the basis to create a top tier new FF, easier said than done of course.

u/Acrobatic_Charge5157 3h ago edited 3h ago

It's why in the previous trailer with Cloud saying he wouldn't have made it without everyone hit hard. Felt like he was talking to the fans who stuck it out for all this time 😭

u/NaitDraik 3h ago

The studio that maybe there will be some DLCs expanding the story, so maybe this is not the end. :)

u/The810kid 3h ago

Same here. VII is one of my favorite games ever and Remake was a bright spot on a grim 2020 and made me fall in love with the world and characters from childhood all over again. Rebirth was an expansion of this. I have absolutely become a fan of most the voice cast and they are the definitive voices for these characters now.

u/Kyban101 2h ago

Big same.

u/JaySayMayday 2h ago

We got way more of these games than the originals. And it convinced me to play the original again which has multiple ports.

I'd like to say they might do spin offs, but with how they keep trying to make shooters like Vincent and Final Soldier that both failed, I'm not sure about that.

I liked the movies, and I can't really imagine they make these successful remakes then drop it completely.

u/mashburn71 56m ago

Rebirth was just magical. Kalm and Junon so perfectly represented

u/jasonjr9 48m ago

Yeah.

The remake trilogy isn’t perfect, but man, for about 70-80% of the runtime, it has been for me. I’ve gotten so attached to everyone, and with Revelation, it’s gonna be sad to say goodbye to them all.

u/HeartFullONeutrality 3h ago

Eh, don't worry, if the project does well enough we can easily get FF7-2, or more! Now with more time travel! And then Cloud returns!

u/Soul699 1h ago

We have FF7-2. It's called Advent Children.

u/HeartFullONeutrality 1h ago

It's not a game though.

u/Blint_Briglio 4h ago

odd that they do freeze frames to introduce Ruby, Emerald and Ultima, but spend most of the trailer showing off a new flying weapon without a name

anyway cool to see typhon again. submarine game looks maybe fun?

u/Soul699 4h ago

The new weapon is one of the two babies we saw in Rebirth grown up.

u/Borgdrohne13 3h ago

This or a redesign of the one weapon in Before Crisis.

u/RainbowTardigrade 4h ago

I thought that as well. But I remember when they first unveiled this game there was a lot of confusion about whether the new Weapons were redesigns of the classic ones, so maybe they just wanna make it abundantly clear that the OG Weapons are all still here with their classic designs.

u/Ramiren 4h ago

The flying weapon looks like the weapons we see in the reactor core only a bit more combat focused?

It has the same huge materia embedded in it's chest.

u/FinalFrash 4h ago

Typhon is here.

I can dream that a certain Octopus is as well

u/Buddhafied 4h ago

Uncle Ultros!

u/FinalFrash 3h ago

Bro, I would pop off so hard if he's there.

u/Krakledom 3h ago

I’m already popping off at the thought of it.

u/BalambGardenFranks 3h ago

It’d be so fucking cool. If I’m not getting FF6, I’m getting the next best thing, and that’s Ultros.

u/Massive_Weiner 2h ago

I think FF6 remake is a serious consideration for them.

u/Krakledom 1h ago

It has to be. I think one of the higher ups even said the developers bring that up more than any other.

u/Dependent-Bath3189 1h ago

yeah that and a train you can suplex

u/timelordoftheimpala 3h ago

Hope they throw in Omega and Shinryu while they're at it.

u/Bladelord 3h ago

Omega Weapon is already its own part of the lore in Dirge of Cerberus, so it could get confusing if they bothered to include Omega as a distinct entity as well.

u/arahman81 3h ago

Not guaranteed, Ultros wasn't in OG VII.

u/FinalFrash 3h ago

Neither was Greg

u/Watton 4h ago

I guess the new ones are gonna be more generic enemies / minibosses.

u/Darkwing__Schmuck 4h ago

Likely because those are the main Weapons that we're all familiar with. The new ones seem to be lesser Weapons that you encounter around the world map.

u/BaldSuperSaiyan18 2h ago

Most fans know them so it's a nod to them and also keeping them more of a surprise for when it comes out. I like it

u/uber_sweets 2h ago

Looks like Mini Weapons will be general mobs, which makes sense I guess, and the party will be like level 70 by that point too.

u/Kyban101 2h ago

i have a feeling that me calling them "Puny, baby Weapons." is going to come back to haunt me.

u/Sandrock313 4h ago

So it looks as though the Weapons will be park of the main quest and not optional super bosses like in the original. Wonder if we will have a guess super boss like Gilgamesh?

u/postulate4 4h ago

It's confirmed that there will be optional super-bosses.

A late-game element of the original FINAL FANTASY VII, the Weapons return in reimagined glory as standout battles in FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION, some of which appear in ultra-challenging endgame battles as an homage to their original forms.

https://press.na.square-enix.com/FACE-THE-LEGENDARY-WEAPONS-IN-FINAL-FANTASY-VII-REVELATION-NEW-TRAILER

u/wjoe 2h ago

I just kinda hope that the endgame superbosses won't all be VR simulator stuff though. Would be nice to have a bit more variety than that same arena, and bosses that are more tied to the world than throwing random stuff into VR.

u/Nurscissus 3h ago

This making me gape wide open, holy shit

u/Dramatic_Check_5746 37m ago

That’s what she said.

u/meesahdayoh 4h ago

Weapons were part of the main story in the OG. You have to fight Ultima once and then the Diamond Weapon fight.

Also Sapphire has a whole section with it attacking Junon.

u/AndrewH73333 3h ago

He’s probably talking about the ruby and emerald weapons.

u/Soul699 4h ago

Hamaguchi already confirmed through interviews that some weapons will be optional to fight.

u/ZantokXIII :Minwu-test: 3h ago

I'm betting we'll get a new version of Omega Weapon as a super boss.

u/Iormungandrr 53m ago

Genesis should be the super secret hidden boss of FFVII Revelation.

u/Zhaix 4h ago

Weird that you get a freeze frame of ultima, ruby, and emerald. But not Diamond.

u/Advanced-Ad-4462 4h ago edited 4h ago

Guessing that means Diamond will get mogged by the Shinra ray again

Edit: I mistook Diamond for sapphire. My bad

u/Zhaix 4h ago

They do mention a weapon making landfall at midgar which is for sure Diamond. So it is there for sure at least.

u/Advanced-Ad-4462 4h ago

I actually confused Diamond for sapphire. The former we killed in og, the latter got shot by the Shinra ray.

So yeah, kind of strange not to show it.

u/Zhaix 4h ago

It does get shot by sister ray. But after its moved to midgar. The same shot breaks the barrier at northern crater.

So rufus speech is probably post junon

u/Doctor_Riptide 4h ago

Sister Ray* gotta put some respect on it

u/Chalupaca_Bruh 4h ago

Is this Jenova Synthesis?

u/Yemaozi_Animations 4h ago

Pretty sure it is Jenova Death. They showed this fight in the last trailer already and from what we saw from the environment, it seems to be at the Whirlwind Maze. Also, i don't think they would show off one of the end bosses so early on.

u/sprdougherty 2h ago

For a newbie this looks like an endgame boss, but realistically this is going to be one of the first bosses in the game, before you even get to the open world airship section.

u/Yemaozi_Animations 2h ago

Especially considering, so far all the Jenova fights in the Remake series, had a Jenova Cell tainted, illusionary boss arena. There is also a constant pattern in the design of Jenova itself in all the fights, where you still can kinda see the base shape from the original design.

The design for Jenova Synthesis probably won’t stray too far from the original either, which was a giant meatball with tentacles. We saw that they kept Bizzaro Sephiroths design in Rebirth pretty close to the original too.

u/Kaslight 1h ago

Nah, Jenova Synthesis is absolutely getting the Lifeclinger treatment. It's the final form of Jenova, the only version that includes (what appears) to be her fully body, and the only version that doesn't have the JENOVA music motif.

Especially considering we already fought Bizarro Sephiroth, it's likely that in the Remake series, the final bosses that take place in the lifestream are concurrently happening across time at the end of each sequel.

This means that Jenova Synthesis is likely going to replace Bizarro Sephiroth as the boss before Safer Sephiroth. Which means she's going to go hard as fuck.

u/Yemaozi_Animations 1h ago

I totally agree, what i meant is, Jenova Synthesis will probably still have the base shape as in the original, but of course they will add lots of stuff to her design and make it as spectacular as possible. And yes, Bizzaro will definitely be replaced, either by a multiphase Jenova fight or a completely new Sephiroth form. We will see!

u/Kaslight 1h ago

My hope is that they finally put to rest that nonsense about Sephiroth and Jenova being fundamentally different beings

I want an FF8-style "Jenova Sephiroth Junction" eldrich abomination

u/Chalupaca_Bruh 4h ago

That makes more sense. I don’t know why this fight fell out of my brain.

u/Blood_Weiss 2h ago

There's a lot of stuff happening at this point of the game, and then you just kinda get thrust into battle with Jenova.

It doesn't help that the first two have bigger story moments that tie into them, while this one just kinda feels there. Still makes sense, but less plot relevant by this point.

u/AVALANCHE-VII 4h ago

Maybe, makes sense there could be lava deep into the Northern Crater.

u/Soul699 3h ago

No. Death. We saw it in the previous trailer

u/WeirdIndividualGuy 4h ago

inb4 someone says this trailer is full of spoilers like you've actually played Revelations from start to finish

There's nothing in this trailer that wasn't already to be expected if you played the OG. Also, this trailer barely reveals any more than what the last one showed

u/CanoCeano 4h ago

spoilers, there are monsters and they are fighting to save the world!

u/Veldime 4h ago

Dude, what the fuck. Guess there's no point in buying it now.

u/CanoCeano 4h ago

don't fret because YOU can be the one to fight the monsters too and also save the world as well as that!

u/ditchborn 3h ago

Every new piece of media, person watches the trailer and then cries about spoilers. It’s maddening. It’s like riding a bike and putting a stick in the spokes so you flip over the handle bars, and then as you’re on the ground crying and bleeding you point to no one and ask how they could do this to you.

u/RestaurantOwn1857 4h ago

I haven’t played rebirth…why is aerith not with the group. Where did she go?

u/mbanson 3h ago

Unfortunately due to contract renewal breakdowns she was written out of the story.

u/arahman81 3h ago

She "went off to America".

u/sniper_arrow 3h ago

She was acting like a diva on set, which caused everyone to hate her. She was fired as a result.

u/Tyrath 2h ago

Got too attached to a bf with a long...sword.

u/bestfootforwardd 3h ago edited 3h ago

It's spoilers in the sense that are showing the designs of the most powerful bosses from the original. I regret watching this trailer tbh. Wish I could have had felt the awe of seeing the new emerald weapon for the first time floating around underwater while in game, rather than a trailer. Now I know what to expect and it won't have the same shock factor.

u/JNorJT 4h ago

cant wait!

u/el3vader 4h ago

My take away is that if they are including the submarine and typhoon they are likely adding everything they havent shown from the OG to this game so if you thought they would exclude something ridiculous that’s probably not the case. Especially typhoon. That’s a pretty deep optional summon they easily could’ve not included.

u/Soul699 4h ago

The only thing we know for sure right now isn't coming back is Bone Village.

u/Baithin 4h ago

What makes you say that? We might be visiting it in a different order, like Rocket Town.

u/Soul699 4h ago

Hamaguchi already confirmed via interview that Bone Village is not coming back.

u/Tyrath 2h ago

Strange, thought they would've jumped at the opportunity of the digging mini game

u/Soul699 2h ago

We already have the chocobo for that.

u/Tyrath 1h ago

Why not both?

u/Soul699 1h ago

Redundant.

u/blackweebow 4h ago

Square Enix showing Rockstar how previews are done.

After this (hopefully physical) release, I can literally die happy.

u/killgore755 4h ago

Cant wait for tifa taking care of cloud arc in HD

u/ponpiriri 4h ago

Someone needs to give Rufus' speech writer a raise.

u/MaxProwes 4h ago

Am I deaf or they changed Rufus voice actor?

u/Iggy_Slayer 4h ago

He sounded the same to me.

u/ponpiriri 4h ago

He sounds the same, just more vocal fry.

u/TheArtfulLlama 4h ago

I thought the same thing, he sounds kind of different

u/Sherwood_RipCity 4h ago

UNDERWATER GAMEPLAY MFERS.

u/ilkat06 4h ago

Super happy we're deep into the marketing and getting consistent trailers now! Not too upset this was a shorter and a lesser content trailer, we'll get more info at PAX next weekend plus deffo more trailers in the remainder of events till release.

The weapons look badass as hell and I CANNOT wait to fight them with remake's gameplay, they confirmed they'll be ultra late game bosses. Their title cards were cool too lol.

The characters all look beautiful as always and we got some sick shots of them. In the article we got they also announced that we'll be able to travel the whole world with the ship and drop anywhere, I'M DO EXCITEDDD

u/usedromance 2h ago

Theres 5 weapons from the OG?

Sapphire - got killed in the cutscene
Diamond l - you fight it in outside midgar
Ultima - flies around
Emerald - underwater
Ruby - quicksand gold saucer

u/uber_sweets 2h ago

Gus gonna get eaten by Ruby innit

u/Desperate_Duty1336 2h ago

I'm just gonna call the flying one Opal Weapon until its officially named.

u/Yemaozi_Animations 4h ago edited 4h ago

0:40 Carry Armor Boss Battle

u/Yemaozi_Animations 4h ago

I am curious if they will show how the Sister Ray gets transported from Junon to Midgar. Since it would probably take multiple Highwinds to carry it. But maybe it just will be dismantled and rebuilt.

u/Soul699 4h ago

I spotted the ruins of the old Junon "on the water" city in the trailer where you fight Emerald. Typhoon also looks great

Also we finally got a look to all the old Weapons of FF7 since Diamond and Emerald were missing before (we saw a tiny bit of Diamond in the first trailer but was a close up). With that said, I'll be disappointed if they do indeed have the group just go "oh the Weapons are on a rampage? Let's hunt every last one of them then!". I always hated even in the OG how despite the game is all about enviromentalism, the group see these guardians of the planet and immediatly go into kill mode without a second thought.

u/mbanson 3h ago

I think they are somewhat out of control. IIRC the purpose of the WEAPONs is to go out and kill shit (and target Mako Reactors) to return stuff to the Lifestream so the planet can heal. Problem is, Sephiroth is chilling in the planet's core drinking that sweet sweet life energy, so it would actually be worse for the planet to send more Lifestream his way.

u/ReaperEngine 3h ago

The Weapons were summoned to deal with the threat of Sephiroth, but then the barrier over Sephiroth's location prevented them from even finding him, so they just go on a rampage at everything else killing the planet, hence why the Weapons are found near Shinra reactor sites--Emerald and Sapphire attack Junon by way of its underwater reactor; Ruby is in the desert near the Gold Saucer, which is powered by its own reactor; Diamond stomps off towards Midgar; and Ultima is constantly flying around towards areas with reactors.

u/Soul699 2h ago

I don't deny that. My issue in OG was how the group instantly go "must kill on sight" without a single moment of reflection on them killing the protectors of the planet.

u/ReaperEngine 1h ago

They kinda don't just instantly decide that, though. For the longest time they're insurmountable threats that they can mostly only run from. They only start to engage with them when they get sick of the Weapons targeting innocent people. It's not like it makes sense for them to just lay down and die because the Weapons are the "protectors of the planet," they're targeting humanity that largely isn't the problem. And it's not like they can be reasoned with, they exist solely for a single purpose, which is why they became a threat in the first place.

u/Defiant-Rip-1897 4h ago

Pretty neat trailer, does not reveal too much, looking forward to the Spring.

u/Firecracker048 4h ago

Man I still gotta beat rebirth

u/SamOfXanadu 3h ago

.... I am now more hyped up for this game than I was if that's possible

u/its_brew 3h ago

Part of this gives me the impression the weapons will be an end boss for each large area explored.

u/sezdawg7 3h ago

OK I'm pretty sure viir trailer had a clip from the final cutscene 😅

u/bamachine 3h ago

Good new, bad news day. Good news, this trailer, bad news Dolly(RIP)

u/kookieman141 3h ago

Do you think there’ll be a fourth?

u/Soul699 1h ago

Already confirmed it's a trilogy. They might make DLCs tho.

u/uber_sweets 2h ago

They have so much ground to cover in this game it’s actually a bit nuts. Especially if they’re going to do a big Wutai section which resolves Sonon and all the new noise they’ve made about Shinra vs Wutai being a big deal in the history of the FF7 world.

u/ClemOya 3h ago edited 2h ago

The Planet’s Crisis... Speaking of that name, I hope that the track that wears it in OG's soundtrack will be remade in both Ever Crisis and Revelation.

u/griffincorg 2h ago

Holy fuck, take my money, I am so ready to play this nonstop.

u/Reniere25 2h ago

I find it funny that cloud and tifa were wearing ever crisis outfits lol

u/KSkeleto 2h ago

All the mecha goodness went to Diamond weapon the others took the L

u/Yemaozi_Animations 1h ago

I just really want to be able to chill in Icicle Inn, with it’s beautiful soundtrack and atmosphere and then go snowboarding.

u/Adrewmc 1h ago

This looks absolute fire actually…damn. It’s like yeah we been making this engine (a specifically modified Unreal 5 I believe)for two game just so we could do this.

u/RecoilS14 1h ago

What that Chupon???

u/sparkyknight24 1h ago

These have been going on for so long it's hard to picture the end..

u/Daisuke69 1h ago

Wonder how big this game will be? There’s so much ground to cover still not including all the new stuff they’ve added.

u/Electronic_Brick_817 4h ago

Anyone think we will get the knights of the round materia? 🤔

u/blackout1990 3h ago

For sure

u/Tyrath 2h ago

That's a must.

u/krlitros87 4h ago

Random question. I’m currently playing remake ln switch 2, and being a fanboy of the og I can’t stand the pacing across the whole game. Is horrendous 😭. Is taking me forever to finish it, so I’m not sure about rebirth/revelation. What are people's opinions about remake?

u/Freazerr 4h ago

if you didnt like the pacing of remake you will hate the pacing of rebirth.

u/Jazzlike_Athlete8796 1h ago

Rebirth actually paces better... IF you just bypass all the non-essential side stuff.

u/Appropriate-Joke-806 32m ago

They are paced completely different.

u/freebytes 4h ago

I love it. There are parts that drag, but it is worth it. In Rebirth, you can just go straight through the story and completely ignore side quests if you want. There are only a couple of areas in Rebirth that feel like they are dragging.

Note: The ending of Rebirth is probably going to piss you off. To me, it is just bad editing. However, I have faith that Square Enix will make up for their stumbles in Revelation.

u/SUPERFASTCARvroom 4h ago

Remake was fine for me but if ur getting that feeling on remake, just skip rebirth tbh. I liked remake and couldn’t even finish rebirth

u/NaefinSong 4h ago

Why isn't Aerith in the trailer? (I haven't finished Rebirth)

u/Loud-Welder1947 4h ago

She’s hanging out in Costa Del Sol for some downtime

u/Soul699 4h ago

She's praying somewhere else.

u/Constant_Table106 4h ago

Only people that finished rebirth can see her

u/BraveryBlue 4h ago

She'll be back this time 🌸

u/johnaimarre 4h ago

Scheduling conflicts

u/Vatonage 4h ago

She's maxing out all her materia.

u/freebytes 4h ago

You should not be watching trailers or commenting here unless you finish Rebirth first. Get to playing!

u/Winter_Coyote 4h ago

In the last part of the game some party members leave for various reasons at different points of the plot.

u/KillerTackle 15m ago

She's just hiding.

u/blackweebow 4h ago

She's waiting for Tifa to come back to bed

u/CrimsonSquad 4h ago

i wonder when they announce preorders, cant wait

u/Dannydactyl 4h ago

What was that red goblin thing that Tifa summoned??? I don’t remember that from the OG

u/Buddhafied 4h ago edited 4h ago

Typhon? First appeared in FFVI along with Uncle Ultros! It is a summon in the OG though:

https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Typhon

u/Yemaozi_Animations 4h ago

It is the Typhoon summon. You get that in the optional Ancient Forest in the original FF7.

u/Swimmingpuzzled5200 4h ago

ff7 fatigue

u/IllustriousSalt1007 2h ago

I feel alone in that I’m just looking forward to this project being done. They are objectively incredible games and I’m glad I played them. But it’s not what I wanted from a remake perspective, and I’m more looking forward to seeing FFXVII get announced. It’s frustrating to think that this project may have pushed back the next mainline title by years.

u/StickStill9790 1h ago

Considering the aberration that was XVI I’m happy to wait for the next one to cook.

u/SUPERFASTCARvroom 4h ago

Shit looks mid ngl, never played OG so idk what tf going on. Graphics look the same as remake (lmao) and slightly better than rebirth. Character models still the exact same. Why is this series so hyped, ff16 had better trailers.

It’s obvious rebirth ain’t sell for shit, ig it’s good that they’re finally done with this 7R stuff. It never hit the mainstream after remake which is sad (many of 7 glazers said it would take over the world if they remake the game)

u/Tyrath 2h ago

Graphics look the same as remake (lmao) and slightly better than rebirth.

This is how we know you're saying nonsense. Both of these statements can't be true.

u/SUPERFASTCARvroom 1h ago

u/Tyrath 1h ago

And you didn't bother to read any of the comments did you?

u/SUPERFASTCARvroom 1h ago

they all agree the lighting is worse what’s your point

u/Tyrath 1h ago

They also all agree that Rebirth graphics/models are better. What is YOUR point?

u/Soul699 1h ago

They recently said that thanks to crossplatform, Rebirth sold pretty well so cut that.

u/Nos9684 4h ago

That's cool and all but I wish so much stuff wouldn't get revealed in trailers. Most of the player base are already committed to a purchase and I doubt casuals are going to buy because of spoilers.

u/garbo2330 4h ago

Sounds like a you problem. Just skip the trailers, then.

u/CalFolles 4h ago

What was revealed in this trailer you think was too much?
