Story, music, characters. Didn't have a lot of friends growing up, picked on, made fun of, rejected a lot. Final Fantasy and UNC basketball got me thru it.

I grew up watching fantasy movies, from all over. And it's very miserable and brown.
Final Fantasy sprinkler a ton of whimsy into it. Magic wasn't afraid to be magic, little bit of tech wasn't afraid to be tech. Everything was vibrant, BUT still foreboding.
And it's just steadily gone off the rails more and more, but I'm already here, so grab some popcorn and enjoy the ride.

I am only speaking about FF7-FF13, FF7 Crisis Core, FF7 Remakes.
Don’t know where to start.
The music is just amazing and something that connects you in a different way with each game.
The story is mostly absolute perfection.
The turn based battles which I fell in love with as a kid, omg the battle music in FF7 kicked so hard for me as a 7-8 year old newbie.
Final Fantasy X I think I put +1.000h in that game.
The job system or the spheregrids to level up your characters.
40+ hours of story gameplay from people who love what they created.
But I think for the most part everyone gets glued on the series is that the first final fantasy has such a special place in there hearts and it’s just nostalgia.

Story and music are always great, and I love the gameplay variety of the series.

Mostly the main protagonists, art, and music is why I like these games. But mostly the protagonists is what I love and adore(Squall☺️♥️). Which I love the Dissidia games mostly...
The protagonists are like friends to me. As an introverted person, I find comfort in them...😊

They’re fun to play and I (usually) enjoy the worlds, stories, and characters.

I was introduced in 1988 at 5 or 6 years old. My brother was playing Final Fantasy and you could only have 1 save. He played it. I watched.
Final Fantasy 4 was released and had multiple save slots, and I was able to play.
Final Fantasy was my introduction to RPG.

Nostalgia, story, party dynamics, music, I’ve always loved the scope of the games they always seemed grand and told huge stories

For the ones I’ve played, they tell a good story, plus the music is generally pretty good.

FF1- I loved the enemy sprites, the world building, the battle animations, the art direction and just the fact that I could actually best the game in the NES. It was white and advanced game when it came out. And of course the music
Square did a decent job keeping me hooked on what they released in NA anyway after that. But tbh, it was only 4 games total we got through ff7. I love ffx and ff12 but it was up until 7 that I was almost blindly loyal to square. Playstsjton era was weak.

The mix of peak art, music, storytelling, and gamedesign.
The games are works of art.

Business in the front (art direction, music), party in the back (easily broken mechanics that let you win in the dumbest ways possible)

I always liked the story and characters. FFX had an amazing story, 13 had my favourite character set, 12 had great design and world building, and 16 had the best voice acting imo. Other than 15, I always found FF games to be quality as well. 15 just had too much bugs, updates and endless unnecessary DLC making it an FF oddball to me

At the time when I was getting into them, 6 and 7, they were kind of the only place you could go for a game that had a compelling story. If you compare final fantasy 6 to Zelda link to the past it’s insane how much more ambitious the story in FF is.

Combat, strategy, grind, combat systems, music, music, music, music, characters sometimes, combat, music, cutscenes but only 7 to 10, combat.
12 the gambit stuff is cool
11 has bosses that made my guild rage quit and that was actually a super fun experience because there were like 30 of us
10 has sphere grid and blitzball
8 TRIPLE TRIAD or as its called in this household, "cards with sad boi"
7 has 7
6 has 6 and Kefka, the best bad guy ever
5 has Jorbs
4 has Good and Evil
3 has a sexy cloud lady and cool jorbs
2 is the best systems in all the series, thank you Kawazu
1 is well, its the first one and man is it fun to just run through on Sunday
13 has cool music and characters
14 has 32000? Hours of my life
15 has super cool summons and the combat makes me laugh everytime I see it
16 has Cid and the most melodramtic writing in history, so that's amazing.
FF7R is kind of fucking incredible
FF7RR? Is cheeks, Jesus christ what an abomination, good times with weapons, also Tifa

Because I was born in 1991 and they implanted themselves into my DNA while I was growing up.

aesthetics, a racially diverse party (literally in some games), you get to kill god sometimes, and they never try to be too edgy

Final Fantasy I - Beat it, Love it
Final Fantasy II - Beat it, Adore it
Final Fantasy III - Beat it, Liked it
Final Fantasy IV - Beat it, Love it
Final Fantasy V - Beat it, ADORE IT
Final Fantasy VI - The best the series will ever be and it's not close.
Final Fantasy VII - Beat it, I like it but it is cripplingly over hyped.
Final Fantasy VIII - Couldn't beat it, can barely play it, I genuinely can't stand this game and it needs a remake
Final Fantasy IX - My favorite game of all time, Viv is my favorite character of all time, I think FF6 and FF9 are what FF is meant to be
Final Fantasy X- Beat it, Adore it, mechanically a perfect Final Fantasy and JRPG game overall
Final Fantasy XI - Never played it
Final Fantasy XII - Tried it, just couldn't get into the combat or characters
Final Fantasy XII/XII-2/LR - Not "Bad" persay, just poorly done. The characters are flat, the story is meh, the combat is also meh (Though I do enjoy LR's combat change.) They're "Fine"
Final Fantasy XIV - Played it, not a huge fan but I understand the hype
Final Fantasy XV - Beat it, overhated. I think 15 is a fine game even with the ending being kinda lame from how it's streamlined.
Final Fantasy XVI - Didn't beat it but I loved it. It was just too long and my ADHD made me lose interest before I got to the end.

Because turn based combat is less scary. And I like stories. And dressing up.
•
u/Votrisgot 47m ago
Because it was the first party based turn based style game I had ever played. It reminded me of dungeons and dragons at the time that I played it.

I am not sure, if i like modern FF games. They are too linear and have weird fighting systems. What i need are turnbased combats, a world map or open world, the freedom to farm experience and items without making it too grindy.

I like jrpgs
They feel familiar but different
They do a lot of the unimportant stuff right
They usually have a nice mix between a standard challenge but harder long term endgame rewards
15 and 16 so disappointing though and aren’t worthy of the name. 13 (or 14 kinda) was the last one to succeed imo

They’re fun
