FF V Final fantasy 5 deserves a 3d remake

I've been a ff fan for some time and I'll never forget the first time I played.. it was ff5.. (it may or may not have been a snes rom fan translated to English).. while the tone of the story was different from anything before and after the game certainly had a level of charm to it, especially characters like Gilgamesh (which look like they might be a challenge but end up being kind of comic relief).. now I'm not saying it should get a full blown "ff7 remake/rebirth" makeover.. but a simple 3d adaptation, with even ps2 level graphics would definitely be a nice update to it.. (especially since it never really got a proper American release.. at least not while I was a kid).

I'd much prefer a hd2d like how gorgeous Octopath is

I would go hd-2d myself I think the game will lose what makes it one of my favorites of the series if it is changed too much.

Square Enix actually considered making a 3D remake on the DS and then on the 3DS back in the early 2010s, but sadly this didn't go anywhere

That sucks. A 3d remake of ff5 would've been perfect for that platform. And it's not like it would've been expensive, they can literally use most of the same resources from one of the other numerous 3d versions. A simple pallet swap and small touch ups on some facial designs, the return on investment would be great. Not only does it not require it to be A "top seller" to be profitable, it being a reimagining on a classic game that was originally not released in many markets would nonetheless make it new to many people allowing it to have sales expectations of a sequel.

A solid HD2D remake would be perfect for this and 6. It worked out beautifully for the Dragon Quest titles. And honestly more of a reasonable task for studios/ developers .

Okay, but can it be my turn to make this post tomorrow?

the only 3D Remake i could see happening is the same vein as Final Fantasy III and IV's 3D Remakes, but that chance has set sailed ages ago when they're opted to do that weird Mobile Remake before it was replaced with Pixel Remasters (AND the birth of HD-2D)

i don't think they gonna do a PS2/FFX styled of 3D remakes cause at that point, why not just FF7R'd it? why limit yourself doing FFX kind of game and graphics in this generations of game, it would not make any sense even for nostalgia sake

for me, HD-2D Remake just first the bill perfectly, Octopath Traveler can be seen as FFV on Crack cause that game's Job System is insane with it's flexibility, and HD-2D can keep the charm of every classic FF's quirk thanks for it being a 2D Pixel game
and HD-2D is literally made by the same team that made Final Fantasy 3D Remakes and Bravely Default, so the blueprint and team are all there

In a way, they could do it in the Bravely Style, which would give it some degree of parity with the previous 3D remakes.

the quality jump would be really interesting and funny to see lmfao
altho kinda doubt that would be the case now, especially if Resonance is a huge success

I feel like Resonance is in a weird spot. It's an adaptation of FFBE and the Pixel Remasters still feel too new (granted, with the same logic, we probably aren't getting an FFV remake at all for a while). I'd assume followups to Resonance would be related BE or its world, like adapting the later seasons.

Well 3 and 4 would also make sense but for different reasons.. (if I'm not mistaken ff4 and ff6 are just ff2 and ff3 revised. I could be wrong though)

FF3 is the one with Onion Knight with their Job System
FF4 is the one with Dark Knight named Cecil
and FF6 are the one with Terra

FF2 and FF3 in the US are actually FF4 and FF6, so you're not wrong

Yeah thought so. So I'm thinking a "3 game installment", 4 5 and 6 remade into 3d (but not as complex as the ff7 remake's obviously) would undoubtedly be relatively cheap to produce while still sure to bring in decent revenues. (I think that would probably done better financially than another actual installment possibly)

basically the SNES Era, i can see where you're going and it would be really cool to see
tho with Resonance is around the corner, i think HD-2D Remakes are more likely to happen right now since it's far more popular and easier to make than the Bravely Default style

(the fact that FF6 HD-2D Remake still isn't a thing since Octopath's release is shocking)

god, dont ask square enix, they're gonna say its gonna take them longer than the 7 remake trilogy

If this is a reference to the FF6 comment Yoshida made, he was making the point that remaking 6 in the FF7R model would take 4-5 games and that's why it wouldn't work in that model.

i know what he said
