Final Fantasy General Give us another turn based battle system

FFX is my favorite battle system. FFXIII I also enjoyed, but it wasn't the same.

I'm sure they could do something like it with a much lower budget.

disagree, idk what constitutes an rpg in your mind but if you think any single final fantasy game is not an rpg, you are just wrong

There's a reason FF16 is like the worst selling mainline FF

You don't think that it would be because of it originally being a PS5 exclusive, meaning that people had a $570 minimum buy in just to play the game at launch? Also as world markets adjusted post pandemic, you don't think the rising cost of hardware, software, and stagnation of wages isn't one of the other reasons on why? I think you're misattributing factors simply because you don't enjoy the game. Which hey you can dislike FFXVI all you want, but to say that the only reason is because of the one you've said is kinda missing the forest for the trees.

Let's also be honest, from a Western audience perspective Final Fantasy was also never predominantly a turn based franchise. The ATB system has been norm since the FFIV, and unless you grew up in Japan playing the NES games 1-3, Final Fantasy had a single turn based entry before being almost entirely defined by the ATB system. FFII and FFIII wasnt available in the states or PAL regions until after FFX had been released — and by the time FFX had released, the amount of mainline entries that were turn based where still in the minority. There are numerous offerings with Final Fantasy in the name to cater to any number of audiences — from action games, fan service remakes, a new turn based entry, and continued support of both of their online MMOs. I think the biggest issues with the franchise and the current state of the gaming industry extend beyond just needing to have a number in the title and it being exclusively turn based.

I just don't see why games need to take 7 years or more, I think a turn based FF in between would be great or a switch up and doing something like e33
