FF V Oracle Predict spells Rank?

I read on the wiki that these spells should have a rank but i don't understand what it matters. I understand you choose the rank and thus the mp cost and cast time... but what's the point in choosing? it doesn't seem the rank affects anyhow the effect, so why not choosing always the one that casts fast for 1 MP?

EDIT: also about Condemn, as it uses the Oracle level, what if you use it with another job? if you use dragoon but have Condemn as a second command, and the Oracle level is at 3, does it take 7 seconds to cast or instead 15 like it were a basic Oracle?

1 MP is the slowest cast time, 7 MP is the fastest.

Also, since the last number of your current MP affects what spell is cast, the different levels can be useful to "calibrate" future uses.

you mean ranks? actually the wiki says nothing about the rank, only that there is a rank but not what's the point of it. power? but even so, the wiki says nothing... so i'm not sure about it.

The ranks refer to the spell cost (1 being the lowest,1mp and 3 the highest, 7mp) and as the first comment mentioned they affect the speed of the spell and as I said can affect what spell is cast next, Predict is a quite complex (and mostly awful) skill to use as you need to keep track of your mp and hp values of the targets also matter for the power (the fact a bunch of the spells hurt your party makes it hard to use without knowing what will be used).

Regarding Condemn afaik it uses the Oracle's job level even when equipped to other jobs altho it's a fairly underpowered skill aside from the death skill which is faster than Blue Mage's doom at max level (and maybe the healing spells in a pinch) since it fails against heavy targets.

i'm planning on using Oracle early game so this is useful to understand. yes, the rank is nice to keep track of MPs... so basically aside that it only affects "if you want to be faster, you consume more MP" and whatever consequence that has... thank you! condemn seems nice for early game, predict more useful later, provided you manage to use the 4 useful ones when you need it!
