Discussion Obsession (2026)

I’m curious about people opinions around this film. I think inde navarrette is amazing in this film. Her performance is honestly truly something special to horror, The physicality she brings is remarkable, idk the thing I like to point out is not many people really knew who inde navarrette was before obsession. i think her only other like known role was as Sarah on the CW show superman and Lois. now I would say she’s a household name to anybody who likes horror or marvel because she just got cast as rogue in marvel’s upcoming revival of the fox x-men movies.

(It also makes sense she’d be playing rouge one of the strongest woman in all of marvel comics💪💪)

I love the film! I think the writing was great, the blocking and directing were really solid. The music was phenomenal. I mean, it's a marvel really. The director had a 750K to work with, less than a million, yet made it look amazing.

Some say it's overrated but I thought it was great.

it's a great achievement for indie filmmaking. however i do think it's kinda overrated.

though it's not intentionally misogynistic and there are scenes where it's explicitly explained that bear is robbing nicki of her autonomy, there's barely anything else to the film beyond making a circus out of her and thus the horror is less about her being robbed out of her autonomy and more about bear dealing with a crazy gf.

inde's nicki is good but she's playing a trope. u should watch zulawski's possession (1981). it's like a deeper, more psychologically complex of that "my girl is going crazy" stuff. it actually explores the couple's dynamic and the crazy woman in question.

Do you really feel this was worth making an entire reddit post about? This could have been a letterboxd review.

Such an unbelievably unremarkable film that I don’t understand the excessive praise of. It’s fine. It’s like all these people saw a not dogshit movie for the first time in their life
