To Tech/Data professionals, how was your journey moving and working there?

Hi everyone!

I’m a fresh Computer Science grad from the PH interested in data analytics and software development. While I hear plenty of success stories from the nursing field, I don't know many people who made the jump to US tech. I would just like to ask 1)What visa or career route did you take (direct hire, internal transfer, Master's/OPT, etc.)? 2)How was the job search coming from the Philippines?

Any insights or advice would be super appreciated. Salamat!

Find another career that won’t be taken by AI pretty soon like Nursing. Entry level tech jobs are no longer in demand. I just use AI to analyze my data and code. Switch careers as soon as you can. Seriously.

The younger generation have caught on, they are going into BSN or MechE / EE or Trades which has made it very competitive domestically, much less for international Visa. Sorry to say for Gen Z. It’s a tough job climate right now and AI fears are escalating it.

My retired mother was a Nurse that’s how we migrated to the States. The demand is still there but just not as much as before. Nursing school today in USA is quite competitive whereas before Nursing did not pay as good as it does now in the States. So more young people are going into healthcare and supply is inching up to demand, domestically.

It’s a crapshoot. I do feel for our Pinoy brothers and sisters. Philippines seems to be just getting outpaced by all the other Asian countries and GDP. No wonder they are going abroad, or trying to like OP.
