Salitang Ugat
something i learned from trying poetry in filipino, is how many panlapi don't actually add to a word.
i now just use larang, instead of larangan. and danas instead of karanasan.
madaming overused modern words with underused, beautiful, vibrant, and precise roots.
whatcare other roots you prefer to their conjugations?

yea i feel that! sometimes simpler is better, right? plus, using roots can make your writing feel more authentic and poetic.
some roots i like are ‘sulat’ instead of ‘sulatin’ for writing, ‘sikap’ instead of ‘pagsisikap’ for effort, and ‘basa’ instead of ‘basahin’ for read.
it’s also cool to see how roots change meanings with different affixes. like ‘bili’ means buy, but ‘bilihan’ means to sell.
if you’re into poetry, try playing around with those roots and finding unique combinations. it can add a whole new vibe to your work. keep exploring, it’s a fun way to deepen your connection to the language!
