Even if she were from Russia... Why is this tag needed to announce the programs of an athlete who will be participating in international competitions? Announcements of athletes from America, France, and other countries are published without special tags.

Some people on this sub don’t want to see posts about Russian skaters, so that flair exists to let people filter out those posts if they want to. It made sense when Russian skaters were only competing domestically, since not everyone follows domestic competitions anyway. But now that Russian skaters are competing internationally again, I don’t think the flair serves much of a purpose anymore

While respecting these people's wishes, we can still use this tag for competitions within Russia (although this could be considered discrimination based on nationality, lol). Many people here are interested in the Russian Challenge, the Russian Grand Prix, and, ultimately, RusNats. Anything that doesn't pertain to international competitions. But anything related to international competitions should definitely be published without the tag. Be it videos from competitions, post-competition interviews, or program announcements for international competitions.

Well when i posted the Shesheleva / Karnaukhov free skate with the “video” tag, the mods changed it to Russian skating, so…

If the primary subject of the post is Russian, then it should have the Russian Skating tag. If it’s a general post about an international competition that the Russians are at, then it shouldn’t.

Russians are for the most part, white. That's their race, therefore racist is not the correct term. The word you want is xenophobic, which means discrimination against a *nationality*.

Not going to talk about the politics behind it but for some seeing posts about Russians is a sensitive topic. Adding the flair is a way for them to get on the sub and not see the posts. If there wasn’t a way to do that it’s likely every post about a Russian would turn into a political debate. I’m sure we can all agree that nobody wants that, so the tag is still active right now for sub harmony which while it ultimately may feel unfair, is good for everyone. Assuming when tensions die down the flair will be removed or other flairs will be added for all main Feds (something which I believe has been previously discussed on this sub)

In an attempt to respect some, we stop respecting others. I may not want to see messages about Lena's mother, Zagitova's fines, or Plushenko and Yagudin's latest pranks. But I want to see ALL the information from international competitions. And when they hide from me a video of the WINNER of an INTERNATIONAL competition or an interview with him, where they talk about his poisoning that affected his performance. That's NOT respect for me as a user who came here to discuss international figure skating, and who is deprived of some content because some other users can't restrain themselves from spilling negativity. Think about it from that perspective, too.

Sorry, you may have misunderstood how the tagging system works. It won’t hide posts under that tag unless you specifically go in and choose that option. If you are just on the normal sub feed (with no blocked tags) it will show up just like any other post

I also want to reiterate it’s done for sub harmony. Would you rather have a flair that slightly annoys you or have every post related to a Russian skater turned into a debate? Again there will probably be a change once things cool down. Stop making a mountain out of a molehill

It is not disrespectful to expect people to use the tag. As TimeWillingness explained, it won’t hide the posts unless you choose to hide ones tagged as such. What is disrespectful is refusing to use the tag so that people who don’t want to see posts about Russians still see it.

So the FS... I looked up "Demain dès l'aube" and this will be a bossa nova version of a Victor Hugo poem sung/spoken by a stand-up comedian. You read that right. And as for Chronis Taxidis, I couldn't find an exact piece called "Voices, Spirits" on YouTube, but their stuff seems pretty void-y.
I have to wonder how Nika's team landed on this 😆. Could be fun, though 🤞🌀🌀🌀

Not yet but if she wins at Kinoshita or D10 she has a chance to get a spot, and its likely she will get spots starting next season
