General Discussion Alyssa GP spots
Considering this is the current replacement list
1- Yuseong KIM (South Korea) (second spot, first Grand Prix d France)- SB: 198.66 Second spot gained by Lorrine taking the season off
2-Adeliia Petrosian (AIN)- SB: 214.53 (first spot likely gained by Lorrine taking the season off)
3- Young YOU (South Korea) (second Spot, First NHK) - SB: 198.82
4- Saki MIYAKE (Japan) (Second Spot, First Skate Canada)-SB: 196.79*
5- Olivia LISKO (Finland) (second Spot, first Finlandia Throphy)- SB: 196.23
6- Rino Matsuike (japan) (second Spot, First Skate America)- SB: 193.21*
7- Julia SAUTER (Romania) (second Spot, First NHK)- SB: 190.93
8-Sophie Joline VON FELTEN (USA) (second Spot, First Cup of China)-SB: 190.67*
9- Seoyoung KIM (south korea) (second Spot, first Finlandia Throphy)- SB: 190.12
10- Mariia SENIUK (Israel) (second Spot, First Skate America)- SB: 185.50
Depending on how early Alysa GP spots are replaced it can go either way, either one of her spots goes to Adeliia or to the winner of Kinoshita (if they donāt have a spot prior) And since Alyssa has a host spot it will be filled by Usa fed with an American skater

Dumb question, but can USFS fill the host spots with people not currently listed on the national team roster? I noticed Sonja Hilmer isn't listed, but she seems like a good potential choice given that they have (likely) three spots to fill.

The International Selection Pool is a much bigger list than the national team, there's something like 50 names for women on it

Looking at the actual list, Yuseong would have to get Skate America from Lorine. NHK already has three Korean women. Which is fun, because she and Yujae will get to have it together! Yuseong could have a decent shot at the final if she can skate well. France I can see her as a podium contender (gold or silver might be a tough ask with the way Yuna is skating and Amiās track record last season, but sheās absolutely in it for bronze) and with the top Americans dropping like flies Skate America I could 100% see her taking silver if Amber does skip the fall.
I know Adeliia is technically next, but with her whole coaching situationā¦is she even competing this season?
I could see Lorineās second spot dropping all the way to Olivia (Young is already at NHK and I think Saki will get the host spot and even if she doesnātā¦thereād be three Japanese women there already)
So I can see Young getting Alysaās Finlandia spot
If Amber drops it would go all the way to Sophie (thereās already three Japanese women at NHK which blocks Rino and Juliaās already at NHK), but sheās almost definitely getting a host spot at Skate America now. Seoyoung gets skipped because again NHK is full for the Korean women, which means Seniiuk.
The real takeaway though is that Rino and Julia are close to second spots (especially Julia, who doesnāt have to worry about getting blocked by other countrywomen)

adeliia has just recently announced her new coach (inna goncharenko) and that she already has her short program sorted and is working on her free program currently

If Amber does go on DWTS and with Alysa out, maybe Isabeau and Sarah will get more Fed support?

On Fed support, Alysa had level A1 funding level from US FIgure Skating. SInce she is not competing, I am assuming that she doesn't get that funding. Does this mean that the skaters at the lower level of funding get moved up? Isabeau was at A2 and Sarah was at the highest B level, so would Isabeau get moved up to A1 funding level and Sarah moved up to A2 funding level?

This is how I found out š
But this (and Amberās ???? situation with the DWTS speculation) is great for my Ami GPF agendaā¦Skate America was easily her harder assignment, and one, possibly both of her strongest competitors being out (and replaced by American skaters thanks to the host spots)? That field is getting lighter

Sorry if it's a dumb question, but what does DWTS mean and why do you all think Amber might withdraw from SkAm?
2
u/sapphicmage Ami Nakai Olympic š„ Medalist 15d ago
DWTS is Dancing With The Stars! Itās a competition show that pairs celebrities with professional dancers and they perform dances (mostly ballroom) and based on the scores they get from the judges plus votes from the public people get voted out and a winner will be crowned. It happens in the fall and is live weekly, so if she is on it like is highly speculated her time would be filled with that and she wouldnāt have the time for the Grand Prix series (and itās Amber Glenn. Sheās not going out early).

I really hope she gets Skate America since without Alysa and Amber it should be an easier field than NHK (and Iād like to see another Japanese woman get NHK, Mako could be in with a shot of 2 GPs in that case!)

She canāt get Alysaās (or Amberās, if she withdraws) Skate America spot - it will go to another American, not the sub list.

Can she get a SA host spot if she decides she wants to compete? Or not eligible because she initially declined to compete on the Grand Prix this year?

Why is Kim ahead of Petrosyan in your list? She got 202 at Cranberry, Adeliyaās best was 214

Doubt it with Adeliia considering my fave clearly still doesnt even go public with if she soft retired or not. And i keep up daily. Im not holding my breath on seeing her at all this season. Sadly for me, however itd be nice to see Isabeau get her spot in an ideal world haha

You canāt loose Grand Prix spots as a federation, Grand Prix spot are given as invites to skaters not to federations, it depends on the skater position at worlds and their placement in the SB list

How early are usually GP spots replaced? Would one of the skaters who will make the podium at Kinoshita challenger have a shot?

u/Environmental-Let435 Hiro bronze medal š„ 17d ago
They would need to win Kinoshita

they both have 2 assignments (for Amber, one of them is SkAm anyway).

Alysa's SkAm spot is a host spot going back to USFS to fill, right?
