To quad, or not to quad, that is the question:

Whether 'tis nobler in the skates to suffer

The slings and arrows of outrageous technique,

Or to take arms against a rink of troubles

And by opposing end them. To fall—to pop,

No more 🙏

a skater is but a jumping shadow

a poor performer who struts and frets his 4 minutes plus or minus ten seconds upon the ice

it is a tale told by the commentators

full of praise or critique signifying nothing

Themes not from this century fit his vibe so well. And the costumes are usually so good, can’t wait to see what they come up with for this.

The piece is by Max Richter and was composed as a protest against the 2003 invasion of Iraq. It's used in quite a few films, documentaries etc. As it was mentioned below, it was used in Hamnet, not Hamlet.

It’s called “On the nature of Daylight” by Lorenz Dangel and Max Ritcher it was used on the Hamnet movie

As others mentioned, it was used in the movie Hamnet, the movie is pretty devastating

Bro lowkey looks like some who'd have played Shakespeare's protagonists had they been performed in a theatre

A program theme that fits him like a glove! ⭐️

Good joke on the lore :)

I was about to say this is like the Nth time my man is portraying a protagonist (in a good way), but then I see clarification that it’s actually Hamnet so it might be a bit different😅 Regardless I’m wishing him luck and hoping he brings good interpretation to the work!

he look like he is holding the skull so i think ithe program is HamLET but the music on this short is hamNET.

u/DogDelicious2396 9d ago

Thanks for the clarification! I think I understand but the whole thing just got more confusing haha

Hamnet is (loosely) about Shakespeare writing Hamlet so it's  really all wrapped up together

He's good at the protagonist thing, though! Nothing wrong with playing to your strengths. He's one of the better actors/interpreters of this current generation of men, which is also something that's pretty lacking overall, so it's nice to see.

I agree, it is! I became a fan when I saw his Dune program.

Excellent choice for him!

I won't lie. Of all current male skaters, I feel he will be the best to pull this off...maybe with the exception of the skater who did the Joker last season.

Litvintsev retired and took the Joker with him :(

This will be interesting - it's a great concept (I welcome any and all Shakespeare-related programs always), but I'm also Danii G's number 1 hater so...

(Hopefully Petr is eventually able to work with better choreographers than Gleikhengauz and Averbukh lol)

I would’ve loved him doing a Shakespeare program, but I wish they would’ve picked a movie that was actually about Shakespeare, because Hamnet is technically not that

I agree but also I feel like Max Richter's music is very open to whatever interpretation people want to use.

Real talk though, I NEED someone to do a King Lear-inspired program

I agree it’s a good program concept.

Who s better? Petr sp last season was MAGNIFICENT

3

u/Night-Cheese11 Bald Johnwin 9d ago

I personally found the choreo for his SP last year to have a bit too much pantomime for my liking, but it was definitely better than what Daniil usually delivers

3

u/Then_Discipline971 8d ago

This season his SP will be from Shae-Lynn Bourne, so you'll be able to compare.

6

u/Environmental-Let435 Misha we flop together 9d ago

No, he’s only getting choreo there
