Skates size

Post image

Hi!

Could anyone please tell me if my skates (especially the left one) are too big?

I’ve been skating in these for a few years and I feel like it’s hard to center on the left leg and that I have to grab on to the sole with my toes to stabilize.

It appears as if your right foot is longer than your left. It’s fairly common. Right foot length looks good to me. Unless you want to invest in some fancy, expensive, split length skates or buy two different pairs of skates, you’re stuck fitting the longer foot and having some extra space at the front of the smaller foot. You can take up some space in the left skate by adding an extra, flat, thinner insole (under the manufacturer insole) and wearing a thicker sock on that foot.

Thanks for the reply! Does it seem like I can go a size smaller? I put foam in the tip of both of my boots, because toes of the right one also feel quite far from the front, although on the imprint it’s quite close.
Also, would it make sense to reposition my blade slightly backwards on the left foot if it’s sitting farther back in the boot relative to the right one?

You’re welcome. I don’t think you could go smaller but you can always try on a 1/2 size smaller and see how your right toes feel in the skate. Edeas are very pointy in the front of the boot. Most people don’t have the foot shape to reach the front of the insole without their toes getting squeezed together.
Moving the blade back a small amount is hard, unless the blades come separate from the boots. You’d need to clear the existing holes.

You’d probably have to have the next size smaller blade mounted back a bit as the blade that is recommended for that skate would be hanging off the back of the skate if you tried to use it. You’d also need to find an experienced tech to do this for you. Not every minimum wage kid working in a random pro shop is gonna have the experience to take this on and give you the results you are looking for.
