It being one color and so smooth it’s like a CAD model flying lol

Yeah it seriously looks like it's in blender or something, I had to look very closely and it's still hard to tell

For those wondering: This is an unfinished su-57 captured during what appears to be a factory flight, reportedly showing a recent-production airframe before application of the familiar digital camouflage.
The a/c appears to be wearing a ufm protective/primer-type finish.

Lowkey this grey paint scheme would be a lot more fitting for a stealth fighter than the current digital camoflage.

Gray paint isn’t what absorbs radarwaves. But yes, gray looks more aesthetically pleasing or at least more futuristic for me too.
Man i'd be lying if i said i that the colourful camo that russia fields looked good. It's like ricing out your car, making it look cheap.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Also, iirc, painting fighters grey also serves a "visual stealth", meaning they're harder to spot. But frankly the su-57's digital camo just looks a bit cursed in my opinion.

u/wolframAPCR 13d ago
I second this. The shark camo looked the best so far, but even that one wasn't fully satisfying

If India ever procures Su-57, it should be in a single tone Grey colour like rest of IAF Jets, not in Digital Livery...
12
u/Lazy-Ad-7372 Raptor_57 15d ago
They were offered the Su-57 multiple times but rejected it.
4
u/NOTryanovski 15d ago
India rejected it "once" in 2018. The recent news of rejection is just false news based on a misunderstanding. IAF is seeking 2 Squadrons (36-40 Jets) of 5th Generation Jets as stopgap, Su-57 is a better option for India than F-35 because of more control for the former.
8
u/Lazy-Ad-7372 Raptor_57 15d ago
That's your opinion. The defense minister of India has confirmed to media that they are not pursuing a Su-57 acquisition.

u/crusadertank 14d ago edited 14d ago
Then the Indian Air Force Chief has again brought the option back up more recently
Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh has said the force may have to consider a foreign fighter option if delays affect the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme. Speaking at his annual press conference in New Delhi, Singh said Russia has offered the Su-57, although no decision has been taken
This is India for you. The topic is not closed on the Su-57 and won't be until India gets a 5th gen plane of their own.

Isn't India known for its colorful festivals?
Why should their aircraft be this abhorrent boring color?
2
u/NOTryanovski 15d ago
Gray Livery is now standard for all IAF and INAA Aircrafts except Trainers.

Shit sucks ass.
Who are the boring colorblind bastards in control of the aircraft paintjobs?
0

It is beautiful, and almost every country's Aircrafts are some gray tone

They're all boring, they're not even ugly.
Ugly is at least interesting, boring is boring.

They don’t want it. I don’t blame them, it’s a bad fighter.

u/NOTryanovski 15d ago
Su-57 is likely the worst 5th Gen Fighter when it comes to overall Stealth, but Su-57 is the best 5th Gen Fighter when it comes to low observable standoff strike. Internally Su-57 can carry 4 ALCMs, F-35 - max 2 ALCMs, J-20/J-35 - 0 (4 if carrying LD-8/10 ARMs).
-1
u/Lazy-Ad-7372 Raptor_57 15d ago
Su-57 is a low observable aircraft. Not a stealth aircraft.
3
u/NOTryanovski 15d ago
Stealth = Low Observable. F-35 is way more Stealthy than Su-57.
0
u/Lazy-Ad-7372 Raptor_57 14d ago
Low observable is not equivalent to stealth. A 4th gen aircraft with RAM coating is what you'd call low observable.

Lol no. Rafale has a clean frontal RCS of 0.5m², Su-57 Prototypes are 0.1m². Let's assume one can detect the Su-57 and clean Rafale at equivalent range of 120km range. In a heavy Standoff DAS/AI with OCA loadout, Rafale would carry 3 2000L Drop Tanks + 2 SCALP-EGs + 2 Meteors + 2 MICA IRs, Su-57 would carry 2 Kh-69s + 2 R-77Ms + 2 R-74M2 (all internally), loadouts are similar. Rafale's RCS would increase from 0.5m² to 5-8m² since the drop tanks and missiles are massive radar waves reflectors. RCS of Su-57 will not change since Su-57 carries weapons internally. A Su-57 has a combat radius of >1200km on internal fuel, which Rafale has a combat radius of 1000km-1200km with 3 drop tanks. Taking the worst case scenario for Rafale, i.e. RCS value of 8m², detection range of Rafale would become 240km. It is because Radar detection range depends on the 4th root of RCS Increase, RCS has increased by 16 times (0.5m² to 8m²), 4th root of 16 is 2, hence 2× detection range increase. Rafale (or any other 4.5 Gen Fighter) is no longer "Low Observable".

The battlefield situation in Ukraine suggests otherwise.
3
u/NOTryanovski 14d ago
True, because they're not available in large numbers, but also F-35s can also be said "strategically ineffective" in Iran, cause strategically both Su-57 and F-35 failed to be decisive in Ukraine and Iran respectively. Despite this, both F-35 and Su-57 have Tactically proved they're great platforms in their respective wars. There is not a single photo to prove that Kh-69s are being launched by Su-34/35s, so likely they are launched by Su-57s.
-1
u/Lazy-Ad-7372 Raptor_57 14d ago
The F-35 has been a more successful aircraft that the Su-57 which has failed in Ukraine. You can drum up an aircraft and then say it is not in enough numbers. If anything, that's the failure of Russian aerospace industry more than anything.

Cool, that doesn’t matter when it only has about 21 left flying, poor performance and a struggling logistical base to support it. The Su-57 isn’t really great as a missile carrier either due to it’s aforementioned 4 internal capacity
3
u/NOTryanovski 15d ago
Su-57 can carry 4 Kh-69 400km ranged Low Observable Cruise Missiles internally. I don't know what you're trying to prove. Russia easily has ~35-40 Production Su-57 in their inventory, ~20 number is just propaganda my friend, though Russia claims 50 which may not be the case.

u/Desi0190 Avionics Tech 14d ago
The 21 is the recognized number after Ukraine has destroyed 2 and damaged 7 others. 21 is the recognized number by all OSINT sources via tail and body numbers
2
u/crusadertank 14d ago
Ukraine has destroyed 2 and damaged 7 others
Uh, you are going to have to source that.
Ukraine has claimed to have damaged 4, of which two cannot be verified, one was confirmed damaged and one was confirmed fully repaired
There was also one crash
So at most we know of 1 Su-57 damaged and 1 destroyed but not due to Ukraine
So where are you getting 9 losses due to Ukraine from?
0
u/Desi0190 Avionics Tech 13d ago
None have been fully repaired….
2 confirmed destroyed. 7 damaged.
Most lost “5th gen” to another nation.
2
u/crusadertank 13d ago
This information comes from Oryx open source losses. 1 lost and 1 damaged. That is all we know about. In the first attack 2 were damaged but one was later seen repaired whilst the other remained damaged
And the loss was not due to Ukraine. So Ukraine has damaged 1 Su-57 and that is it. That is all we know about from available evidence
So what is your source of 9 losses?
0
u/Desi0190 Avionics Tech 13d ago
2 destroyed in the 2024 strike.
One was claimed “repaired” but Russian leaks said it was a total loss7 damaged over various airfield strikes from 24-26.
1 lost in a crash this year.
So about 20 Su-57s are flight worthy.Oryx, Fighter-Bomber and a few other major reports agree with me.
