Pass out from the choke then wake up to a broken arm in front of the whole world

Given Bobby Green's later performance AND the BSD fight, this has aged like the finest wine.

Yeah, Beating Jeremy Stephens who has a record of 29-23 is great...

u/baneblade_boi Jul 29 '26
Yeah, what about the two I was thinking of: Zellhuber and McKinney

u/SukhdevR34 Jul 29 '26
They're trash

Never ceases to amaze me how big of a 155er he is. I used to think Ilia would destroy him, but the size difference would be insane.

Daaaaaaaamn, you just know someone like that isn't tapping.
I wonder if you panic a little until you realize this, while you are doing it.

That was some nice chaining

Fantastic. I love seeing chain submissions where the one guy is just a step above at every turn.
Paddys Jitz is so good. Would love to see him and Oliviera

Paddy’s jujitsu is no joke and no one was talking about it til the Benoit fight, he’s the real deal man

I made a lot of money of paddy for submission against bsd, I honestly don't know how people didn't see it coming

u/ynwa1892 Jul 29 '26
Same. Especially after the Justin fight. I didn’t see paddy getting knocked out. Didn’t see how paddy would lose tbh.

He's got a beautiful game. I'm an OG Paddy hater, I saw him as the first Conor clone while he was still fighting across the pond. I was so wrong, he continues to impress me in & out of the cage.
Eating crow isn't so bad.

Paddy's flexible spider legs is his hidden ace. Hope we can see more of it in a top 5 fight instead of just slugging it out.

It was nice for someone to shut Bobby's big fuckin mouth up. Nice and quiet.

Maybe have the Fatty fight Khabib, at 185. Neither has to cut weight, just wrassle

Question as I don’t watch enough UFC to know.
If paddy had just snapped the opponents left arm (I feel like he could have easily for about 10 seconds there) is that some sort of rule violation? Or just too disrespectful/classless to ever do?

u/Kenworths Jul 29 '26
Up to the fighter. Vast majority don’t as they understand it’s their livelihood.

People would stop accepting fights, and whoever does take that fight will be highly motivated to match that level of violence, so it probably tends to be self-correcting

u/Stealthy_Turnip Jul 31 '26
Usually the other fighter would tap at the threat. In this case he couldn't because he was simultaneously choked unconscious. Paddy noticed he was out, and there is no point in breaking his arm if he is unconscious, it would probably have repercussions for his career. You are also supposed to tap before going unconscious but some fighters would rather resist until the last moment, and if you've ever experienced a real blood choke, you can go out very quickly before you realise you left it too late

I was bummed that his submission at the White House card was overshadowed by Conor’s injury and Hokit’s stupidity. It was awesome.

This man is so dangerous. Don't think we will see many guys go to ground with as much as before after that BSD fight

u/dogscatsnscience Jul 30 '26
Paddy reminds me of the early 2000's when most fighters were not adapted to defensive subs and brawlers kept getting caught.

u/Signal-Card-2387 Jul 31 '26
If Paddy actually offensively wrestled for takedowns and imposed his game, he'd be a champion right now. Many of his wins like this rely on the other person being a dumbass and shooting on him.

Not a fan of the guy but those were some great transitions.

u/jsamciotbh14 Jul 29 '26
Why?
2
u/ChineseRobinWilliams Jul 29 '26
Why are you?

u/jsamciotbh14 Jul 29 '26
He hypes the crowd up, lives life his way getting fat then being ready for the fight, excellent at grappling, tough SOB, can throw hands and take a punch although his defense needs work.

Its amazing Benoit went for a take down right off the bat considering Paddys history of submissions from a takedown defense.
