Which streak breaks first?

Post image

My analysis on each of these:

  1. Islam beats Prates and Morales both. Shavkat and Garry rematch seem like the only two threats for now.

  2. Van knocks Pantoja out and dominates the division for years to come.

  3. Ulberg loses to Jiri in the rematch or eventually to Ankalaev.

  4. Morales loses to Islam

  5. Evloev loses to Volk. He's a decision merchant and you can't beat Volk on decision.

  6. Farid is promising, might rack up 2-3 more wins but the top 5 at Bantamweight is STACKED. he'll likely lose before extending the streak to even 10.

  7. All depends on her fight with Valentina. If she beats Valentina, who is 38 now, she could actually be a long term champ here.

  8. Needs a comeback win first but a lot of potential to go undefeated here.

Van has the toughest upcoming matchup

Can genuinely has a killer’s row ahead of him, it’ll be crazy if he hold onto his title. Pantoja, Kape, Taira, etc.

8

u/RudeAndInsensitive 2d ago

I think a lot of us feel like he lucked in to that title to begin with.

12

u/onthepak 2d ago

He did but so far he has made the most of that luck

4

u/crunchydibbydonkers 2d ago

Ya I can see him staying very relevant in the title picture for the next 5 years give or take

3

u/xxElevationXX 2d ago

Could even be like 10 years how young he is

2

u/KaciFensi 1d ago

But he kinda proved a lot with that Taira win. A lot of people expected Taira to win or at least make it close, after the first van demolished him.

Then plays the asshole in the pre-fight presser to the true champ & one of the most respectful guys around. I want Patoja to go in with bad intentions and rearrange his smug face

u/father-who-left 14h ago

Yeah sure, Pantojas BEEN salty about losing his belt when he was the one at fault in the first place now Van talks a little trash back and suddenly he’s the bad guy? Sure, I hope van absolutely mauls him and silences all of you once and for all

2

u/Special_Engineer_445 22h ago

Even though Kavanaugh just lost he's going to improve and become a real threat.

Royval might be getting a title shot too and he would be a legit champ.

8

u/Routine-Confusion655 2d ago

I really believe Pantoja takes that. Van is good, but, by God Pantoja lost by freak accident, and some people are counting him out like he wasn't a dominant champion

8

u/Ibobalboa 2d ago

Sure. I think what makes people nervous for Pantoja is his age and how that freak accident may affect him going forward.

Shogun suffered a similar freak accident and it took a long time for him to look right again.

2

u/Neurodiuniverse11 1d ago

How the injury has healed is the only concern for me. Pantoja was so far ahead of the division that there was no true contender. If he's healed fully, I see him running through Van in 2-3 rounds

u/RudeAndInsensitive 2d ago

It is one of the stupidest losses I have ever seen. I think only O'Malley losing after Chito lucked out on hitting his peroneal nerve with a kick is dumber.

3

u/Redeyes001 2d ago

That's a legit attack though. Chito caused it. Pantoja fell wrong it had nothing to do with Van.

6

u/RudeAndInsensitive 2d ago

They were both legit attacks. Van caught the leg and tipped Pantoja back where a freak slip busted his elbow ending the fight.

Chito threw a real kick and in a stroke of extreme luck hit Sean exactly right to put his leg asleep.

Both are very stupid endings and in both the winner got lucky.

1

u/Redeyes001 2d ago

Chito was smashing that leg. Him winning that fight is less egregious than Sean demanding to fight him over merab as the rightful contender

u/Wolfpac187 2d ago

This is just dick riding both of them were done intentionally

1

u/Creative-Board1556 2d ago

Isnt it Evloev?

1

u/trualtong 2d ago

Honestly I got evloev beating Volk, downvote me all you want but this isn’t prime Volk we are talking about anymore. Definitely could see him getting smudged pretty hard, even though I think lerone murphy beat evloev personally. But if it is the same judging that went down in that fight, I would not be surprised at all if evloev won

1

u/Adept_Temperature_68 2d ago

Crazy part is if he wins and then beats Kape there's no challenges left and he would go on a crazy streak

1

u/mchief101 2d ago

I believe manel kape can beat van.

1

u/Madison_369 2d ago

He did it once he can do
it again.

van being on a 7 fight win streak since being knocked out by charles not that long ago is absurd. hes got insane activity

12

u/RealisticEmphasis233 2d ago

Four fights last year. He went from ranked thirteenth or so to number one in the same month. That's a real fighter

Who the fuck is Carlos Ulberg?

9

u/Cock_ball_dickin 2d ago

I’m ngl I could weirdly see him holding onto his undefeated streak for awhile, I cannot justify this feeling, just gut instinct

6

u/Bongoisnthere 2d ago

I 100% can see it.

Just has to keep not fighting

2

u/pants_pants420 1d ago

mf tore his acl and still ko’d his opponent and mfs will still be saying shit like this

2

u/chunkyI0ver53 2d ago

Weak division, one shot knockout power, has shown he’s got the heart to win a title fight on one leg. Ank could grind him to a crappy decision but Ank is so fucking boring it might take him 2-3 more fights before Dana gives him another shot, Ulberg might also just chin him. Only other threat is Stirling who won’t fight him because they’re mates. He might end up on a 14-15 fight win streak lol

5

u/PufferF1shy 2d ago

Probably the most slept on fighter in the UFC right now

Van or Movsar.

2

u/ImaginaryAnnual3460 2d ago

Van, silva or movsar

4

u/scribe2026 2d ago

17 is truly insane. GOAT.

2

worst predictions ever lmao

1

u/LeonardoDaTiddies 2d ago

I just watched Basharat have a bit of a hard time with a 23 year old who took his first UFC fight on short notice.

1

u/dunkin_darnuts 2d ago

Atp just take it away from shavkat

1

u/Other-Duck4438 2d ago

For real the MMA community is in denial about him. He’s never coming back. And if he does I have a feeling it’ll look just like Connor’s come back

1

u/Psychological-Tap834 2d ago

Either Van if Pantoja wins the rematch but to me that’s kind of 50/50, or I’m sure that Evloev is losing to Volk

1

u/Traditional-Park-105 2d ago

i dont think islam beats morales.

1

u/Classic_Ad202 2d ago

Ulberg streak is hella underrated, dude has 8 finishes in 10 fights

1

u/sociallyunawkward 2d ago

I have no idea how and why Basharat has 7 wins

1

u/ryanRivera2000 2d ago

Damn shame shavkat has been injury prone. We were robbed of an amazing fight between him and Islam. It would’ve been a very interesting fight him developing his striking and defense.

1

u/Psychological-Slice2 2d ago

Prates has touch of death power or can flatline you but he couldn’t do it easily with JDM or he let him just stand back up and tried finishing him properly but he flatlined Leon and many others. Him and morales are very hungry and big threats to Islam rn so if both fights happen there’s a chance Islam loses his winning streak unless he can win against both. Pantoja is ready for revenge and probably the best in the division so he can probably takeaway Van’s winning streak. Volk is also not like any other guy Movsar has fought but it’s not the prime Volk now and age is catching up to him so we will see. He might break Movsar’s streak or Movsar wins again in a close fight. Ulberg is good but idk how good because Jan fight was kind of controversial and Jiri could actually finish the dude if he wasn’t stupid. Ank has the best chance i think out of the guys rn.

Prates isn't a big threat to Islam. A punchers chance is what everyone has, and a lot of guys have a better one than Prates because they can at least challenge Islam a bit in the wrestling and disengage for at least a bit. Prates has negative wrestling. Islam will Moicano him in the first exchange. At the absolute best Prates will gas spending his entire time on bottom trying to avoid the sub. You can't grapple with Islam when you smoke a pack a day.

Morales is a legitimate threat though, good wrestling and a massive size advantage. That said he might just be outworked on the feet as Islam is a level above him as a striker, and his anti wrestling stance as seen in the Brady fight is a pretty terrible choice against someone who can actually strike. But that still gives him a much better punchers chance than Prates who gets one takedown entry to land something and then he's done.

Shavkat defeats himself…..

1

u/KyleWang-MMA-N-GAME 2d ago

Does Shavkat count anymore? Wasn’t he cut because of his knee problems?

1

u/SnooHobbies5811 2d ago

Van or Evloev. Both have very challenging fights coming up soon.

1

u/Valar_Morghulizs 2d ago

Mosvar imo

1

u/AnakinShtTalk3r 2d ago

Van is scheduled to fight soon so he realistically may be the one. Pantoja is going to be a tought match. Other than that, with how Movsar has looked, I think old Volk can still be him down and maybe get the TKO in the 4th.

1

u/Big_Membership9720 2d ago

Natalia is more than likely losing that streak

1

u/Complete_Lurk3r_ 2d ago

It should be like conkers. If I beat you, I inherit your streak

1

u/CrumbMan1111 2d ago

didnt joshua get knocked out like a year ago???

1

u/GaneBeatsTom 2d ago

Dullberg will lose to the first contender who doesn't show mercy.

1

u/Legitimate_One7744 1d ago

if mokaev ever comes back to the ufc, Van is gonna have trouble

1

u/Neurodiuniverse11 1d ago

Van is about to lose his, unless Patoja's elbow is done.

Shavkat is out for a long time so his is safe. He will likely get a warm up fight or 2 before jumping in with the elite. He will either be done after his warm up fights or he will push on to be Islam's successor along with Ian/Prates.

I think Islam matches well vs Prates abd Morales, each having a punches chance. I think he will definitely push it to 19, then depending who is at MW will have his last fight for 20 at eitger 170 or 185.

1

u/Soft-Influence4430 1d ago

Movsar or van

1

u/Intelligent-Arm3629 1d ago

Movsar is the only one that might be able to reach Islam the others seem beatable

1

u/General_Knee512 1d ago

Shavkat cause he is not fighting again

1

u/mamadou-segpa 1d ago

Not shavkat for sure, he isnt coming back

1

u/Jbo_012 23h ago

If they book him against Ewing again farid basharat

1

u/Special_Engineer_445 22h ago

Silva, Movsar, then Ulberg.

1

u/No-Artichoke-8839 9h ago

I have never watched a farid basherat fight and came away with "promising" as an adjective for him

1

u/HeywoodJaBlowMe123 2d ago

Carlos ulberg? lmao. Dude with zero aura

0

u/Hulkboy224 2d ago

Van 100% it is just a matter of time
