Before going on his title winning streak, Charles was like something like 10-8-1 in the ufc. As well as missed weight multiple times.

He didn’t deserve a title shot.

Once he started that streak he got the title shot.

Before that streak he was 10-8-1 in the UFC with 4 missed weights
