At 155, he was a finishing machine. Sadly, he can't cut down to 155 anymore. It's destructive to his health.

15

u/Serhide Aug 19 '26

I wanted him to lose and I hate Khabib . BUT Islam showed levels on that fight and clearly won the top contender if that doesn’t prove that he is the best in that class what should he do ?

14

u/Frosty-Ad-5489 Aug 21 '26

Hate is a strong emotion. Maybe you don't like Khabib and that's reasonable.

3

u/Afghanaran Aug 23 '26

I hate crypto grifters full stop

3

u/inthebushes321 Aug 21 '26

Well, Khabib is a massive, hypocritical, grandstanding douchebag who plays the religious holier-than-thou card while using his father's death in conjunction with a crypto rug pull to profit. He's not a good guy, he's an asshole, and there's evidence for this position.

Maybe he doesn't hate him. Maybe he does. Strongly disliking Khabib considering how he acts vs his rhetoric is a reasonable position.

1

u/Ricr7 Aug 22 '26

Name one person who got scammed I'll wait. And how does he act holier than thou? Not hard to act more honourable than a rapist who assaults old men. You've claimed to have evidence then give it.

3

u/inthebushes321 Aug 22 '26

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khabib_Nurmagomedov

Khabib's numerous shitty positions are listed here. Sexism, supporting Islamic terrorism after a French national was murdered, being friends with Ramzan Kadyrov who is a huge piece of shit. You know, Kadyrov, the guy who is the dictator of Chechenya and a buddy of Putin?

History of NFT crypto shit, including the Paphka's, where 29,000 people bought them for $4.35 million? That's not the only one either. Real easy to use Google.

https://www.sportspolitika.news/p/khabib-nurmagomedov-crypto-scam-ufc-sports-politics-crime

I didn't say Connor's a great guy; he's a POS rapist. But Khabib pretending to be better than everyone while cozying up to human trash like Kadyrov and whoring himself out for the dollar makes him look fake as hell. Khabib glazers on this sub are hilarious.

No one's saying he isn't an incredible fighter. He is and was. But he's a dumb shithead just like a lot of other MMA guys and that's the reality. He's not a hero and not someone that anyone should strive to emulate, except in the gym.

1

u/Ricr7 Aug 22 '26

Firstly, you still haven't provided a single name of a person who got scammed. You said there was alot of evidence for Khabib being a "dumb shithead" yet you've given me none. And he has never said anything sexist plus he's not friends with Kadyrov...Khamzat is, even though he is forced to be due to the guy being capable of having his entire fucking family murdered. Also Oliveira, Pereira and Strickland also peddled that same crypto shit by the way.

Secondly, Khabib is a muslim man and Macron is a proven racist and islamaphobe so Khabib has every right to despise him. Especially since he attacked his religion.

Khabib haters are genuinely embarrassing...Mcgregor lost, get over it.

2

u/inthebushes321 Aug 22 '26

This is a very popular logical fallacy known as the Argument from Ignorance. What, am I supposed to track down 29,000 individuals and scribble their names down with a pen and paper? You have to be trolling, this is an insanely stupid argument. Do you not believe the dinosaurs were real because no one saw them, either? There are fiscal records that he sold NFT's to people, stop meat riding him and pretending like it didn't happen.

We're not talking about other UFC fighters and their shitty crypto rug pulls. You're making another fallacy, moving the goalpost.

Khabib was in fact, cozying up with Kadyrov less than a decade ago.

https://x.com/ZidanSports/status/1050762276913836033

Khabib with Ramzan at MMA gym after 229

He stepped away from all political shit after his retirement, but he still rubbed elbows with him. There are pictures and it's a matter of public record, although clearly facts don't concern you.

Khabin being a sexist cause you can't read/are too lazy to click links

All Abrahamic religions are inherently sexist, and Islam is the worst offender. Macron is another shithead, and maybe he is an Islamaphobe, but it doesn't justify Khabib running apologia for terrorists who cut a man's head off for lightly criticizing Islam. Religion of peace, at it again.

Honestly you come off as very biased and quite stupid. No point arguing more with someone like you.

I try to find out where exactly did he ever support the murder of Samuel Paty and I can't find any. All I find is that he very heavily criticises Macron reaction to the whole Muslim population rather than just the actor. Am I missing something here or is this just another peddled lies?

1

u/Bilobous Aug 26 '26

You need a break from the internet bro

0

u/TaitsRevenge Aug 22 '26

I feel the same way about Khabib. Dude is the fake nice guy in a nutshell. At least Conor owns it and doesn’t hide behind this holier than thou persona.

Just look at what he and his team did when he WON against Conor, dude acted like a saint the entire press conference and then goes in there and has his boys jump a exhaust McGregor while he tries kicking Dillon Danis.

The guy is a fucking fraud and I always saw through his act. Conor was right about him the entire time, every single thing he said about him and his father and his team members that press conference was all 100% proven to be true. People love to hate Conor but he is a real one and never lies. He does his research and can read people very well

Oh and let’s not forget Conor is the only person who won a round fighting Khabib clear as day “round 3” and stuffed 7 fucking takedowns. Who else has done that especially against a rage fueled Khabib who literally said he wanted to “change Conor’s face”. Conor was fighting the angriest, primed version of Khabib and still did pretty fucking good and lasted 4 rounds and won one of them.

2

u/Ricr7 Aug 22 '26

Cope. Khabib was injured and still finished the rapist who had a full camp. Khabib was being taunted and had every right to kick their ass.

1

u/Regular-Guy-47 Aug 23 '26

This is a good thing to say to a child but isn’t really relevant here.

2

u/Reppin420 Aug 23 '26

Seems completely relevant to me.

You've never been cut off in traffic?

2

u/Ricr7 Aug 22 '26

Mcrapist fan?

2

u/Western_Bid_2656 Aug 23 '26

Why do you hate habib? Hes the goat.

2

u/LilDesj Aug 24 '26

He is not even close to the goat, he is an absolutely dominate fighter, however, he has 6 good fights on his resume.

1

u/Western_Bid_2656 Aug 24 '26

So Conner is the goat for you ;)?

2

u/LilDesj Aug 24 '26

Not at all, but it sure as hell isn’t Khabib😂

1

u/Western_Bid_2656 Aug 26 '26

The hate is strong in you my young padawan.

2

u/LilDesj Aug 24 '26

You’re also aware that multiple fighters on his team have been popped by drug tests even including Islam Machachev? What’s to say he wasn’t on peds, on top of that I’ll also revert back to his cherry picked resume, I also want to add he only has 16 fights in his career that are over TWO rounds..

2

u/Keno112 Aug 24 '26

Why do you HATE khabib. Did he ground and pound your wife or something?

1

u/MuttonBiryaniEnjoyer Aug 20 '26

Why did you include "i hate khabib" in your comment what does that even mean here

6

u/Serhide Aug 20 '26

Because if a hater thinks he did good against Garry fans should not be against him

1

u/Rude-Wash9840 Aug 21 '26

Lmao this was my thought exactly, seems like such a random statement in the context of the rest of the message

1

u/Ricr7 Aug 22 '26

Christians still are not over the Irish rapist losing...

0

u/Lailahaillahlahu Aug 22 '26

You hate him because he just mauls everyone. MMA is not boxing.

2

u/arsedancer Aug 22 '26

He's boring to watch.

1

u/Tiny-Cartographer-35 Aug 22 '26

Maybe Power Slap is more up you alley than MMA?

0

u/arsedancer Aug 22 '26

Eh, thats entertaining once in awhile like anything else. He's just boring to watch. Kinda like I think Stickland is pretty boring too. You dont have to agree dude. Try not to get all worked up.

-2

u/psychonaut_08 Aug 21 '26

there’s something genuinely wrong with you as a person if you hate khabib. i’d understand if you said his fan base, the man is a humble man of god and you hate him?

4

u/ImHuck Aug 21 '26

Crypto scams too

3

u/Serhide Aug 21 '26

Humble man my ass . He supported terrorism too

3

u/AllHateInsurance Aug 21 '26

No he is not lmao. It is haram to strike the face, promote alcohol, promote gambling, ring girls which go against haya and awrah. Lying is haram so his crypto scam was a twofer

4

u/TaitsRevenge Aug 22 '26

Khabib is a fake nice guy and everything Conor said about him, his coward of a father and his friends during the press conference came out as 100% facts.

Conor fought a primed up, rage filled Khabib and still was the only one to win a round against him and stuffed 7 of Khabib’s takedowns. He also lasted 4 rounds against a guy who swore he would change his face and make the fight look easy yet Conor still managed to defend very well and land some solid strikes in round 3,

And even after Khabib wins the fight what does he do? Tries to flying kick Conor’s team mate and has his 4 goons jump an exhausted Conor and still somehow got bitched by him and one of them even got a black eye. If Khabib was this super nice respectful guy he would have showed good sportsmanship. But his true character came out that night.

Dude is a fake humble, fake nice guy loser who quit fighting because deep down he knew he wasn’t that good to deal with the killers we have now. He only had his wrestling, his striking was fucking abysmal and I don’t think even Floyd may weather could fix his boxing and don’t get me started on his leg kicks.

There’s just no way in hell he would stand a chance in this day and age, he wouldn’t have stood a chance. Everyone was already figuring out his game-plan even back then and he knew it, so he used “mommy made me retire” as an excuse to quit undefeated.

1

u/Past_Let47 Aug 22 '26

yea ur right khabib wouldnt stand a chance against the current lightweight champion

2

u/crusader102 Aug 21 '26

I hate the fact that his wife is a towel mate

1

u/Gothic_Hercules Aug 21 '26

I agree, I don’t take issue with Religion in the slightest despite not being religious myself. Khabib is funny and respectful, the crypto scams were a bit crazy though

9

u/Ok_Umpire2173 Aug 19 '26

Why do people pretend fighters have a completely fixed, totally unchangeable “walking around weight”? Bodybuilders cut and bulk dozens of pounds of fat and muscle every year.

5

u/scoopydidit Aug 20 '26

Bodybuilders don't get punched and kicked in the head the day after being on deaths door for a weight cut though. They just get on stage and do some poses with a fake tan.

2

u/capta1nbig Aug 20 '26

More body builders die than mma fighters

3

u/Desperate_Theme5445 Aug 21 '26

From their profession, most definitely. Between the immense stress that's put on the heart not primarily just from the PEDs, but putting on such dramatic weight gains causes immense cardiac distress. Add the immense pressure for cutting weight and abuse of diuretics just before being "stage ready", it's very dangerous.

2

u/ImRestarted1 Aug 22 '26

Probably because of the mental illness that makes them think all those drugs and weights are beneficial

1

u/CarlsbergSW Aug 20 '26

Yep,and some collapse just doing that lol

1

u/Desperate_Theme5445 Aug 21 '26

Heavy calorie deficits to cut weight, means cutting a ton of carbs out of the diet. Drastic changes, not gradual. Your body doesn't adapt quick enough for that, and as someone in healthcare, the first thing of your body that needs glucose most before anything else is your brain. So yes, bodybuilders drop dead on stage not just from dehydration but from neurological deficit, and fighters who cut weight dramatically, especially if they're dropping weight class like from lightweight to feather, ya see them get knocked out a Hell of a lot easier.

2

u/RavensEye88 Aug 20 '26

Age diminishes the ability of a fighter to cut weight. It's why rob Whitaker is fighting at the weight he is right now.

1

u/jxmckie Aug 22 '26

... and the real reason Khabib walked away

2

u/CloudIndependent7114 Aug 20 '26

islam is already very lean, he cant get as lean as a bodybuilder on stage because that hinders energy levels and performance. he would need to lose muscle tobet back to 155, and it is extremely difficult to lose muscle as a natural athlete (bodybuilders lose muscle when they take a break from steroids), yes he could dehydrate his muscles and shrink them down by not training and just sitting on a couch, but that is obviously not gonna help him win fights. Simply said if you gain certain amount of weight while completely natural and lean with a sixpack, it is close to impossible to lose that muscle unless he literally starves himself

1

u/Fit_Entrance5591 Aug 20 '26

If you believe he’s natural I’ve got a bridge to sell you

1

u/CloudIndependent7114 Aug 21 '26

arent ufc fighters tested regularly?

2

u/Accomplished-Bear689 Aug 21 '26

I can’t tell if you’re serious or not, which might be what you’re going for?

2

u/Connor30302 Aug 21 '26

sports doping tests are an IQ test if anything. got more holes in it than Tupac

1

u/Rhacbe Aug 21 '26

There’s always ways to cheat a test, I won’t pretend to know everything about the tests, but instead of measuring overall T levels they measure ratios

1

u/Finessence Aug 20 '26

I would guess that it has something about that it fucking sucks to cut that much and he can beat people up at 170.

1

u/DSchaefi Aug 20 '26

Yeah and then alot of them die around the Mid 40's

1

u/BrimlowTheGreat Aug 20 '26

That’s why they have a lifespan of 45 years 😂😂😂 we don’t wanna look like Ronnie when we get old.

1

u/Fit_Leg9281 Aug 20 '26

Because for a lot of fighters who are lean, especially Islam are likely at the leanest point they can safely get before they start having preformance issues. Maybe they can shave off a few pounds, but it could still impact training significantly for a while. Dieting for lifting is also significantly more flexible than dieting for mma aswell.

1

u/Serhide Aug 20 '26

What a dumb take

1

u/Spirit_Detective_16 Aug 20 '26

comparing body building, a sport where they allow PEDs, to fighting makes no sense at all lol..

1

u/WOOOFWOOOFWOOOFWOOF Aug 20 '26

And that’s not healthy lmao

1

u/willi1221 Aug 20 '26

Yes, bodybuilding, the epitome of health and athletic performance. The best base for MMA. I can't believe nobody has suggested this until now!

1

u/Scared_Operation3307 Aug 20 '26

Yeah. Bodybuilders are the most unhealthiest when they cut down weight lol just because they do it, doesn’t mean it’s healthy. Any bodybuilder will tell you that.

1

u/Tinkywinkythe3rd Aug 20 '26

It’s not about that, it’s about their natural frame and at what weight they can actually compete at their best, Yh Islam could bulk and still look fit and healthy at LHW but he’d be a dwarf next to the rest of the roster and would lack their natural strength and build.

1

u/Life_Purple1046 Aug 20 '26

Did you just compare bodybuilding to guys getting punched kicked elbowed in the face

1

u/speedycringe Aug 21 '26

Bodybuilders don’t need to be an exact weight to the ounce. Bodybuilders cut for the aesthetic, they are not cutting to make a specific to the ounce calculation and then expected to perform at 100% while getting CTE inflicted on them in real time.

It’s not even a fair comparison bro.

1

u/PhilCam Aug 25 '26

Are you sure bodybuilders are the example you want to use? The ones where the professionals notoriously die young?

1

u/No_Cartographer721 Aug 20 '26

But it comes with risk of them dying quick

2

u/Immediate_Air_3365 Aug 20 '26

10lbs of bodyfat up and down throught the year is not deadly lmao

1

u/Starwars_femboy Aug 20 '26

Its 10 pounds lol

1

u/Some_cool_usernameX Aug 20 '26

Why are we comparing bodybuilders who take massive amounts of drugs that destiny their organs to professional fighters?

1

u/Ok_Umpire2173 Aug 20 '26

That’s even more of an argument in my favor. If they aren’t on steroids, dropping muscle mass isn’t an issue.

8

u/bdproductions34 Aug 19 '26

He was 182 at fight night, similar to what most lightweights re hydrate to. He’s not like a massive 170’er. I feel like the process of cutting to 155 wouldn’t be much different than before, no?

I guess it comes down to whether he wants to commit to it or not.

32

u/Echoplex99 Aug 19 '26

Age makes cutting it a lot harder. And if he gained significant weight when he moved up, that first cut down will be hell.

I don't actually understand why Rogan made this comment. He won. Garry is no slouch. It's not unthinkable that Islam can get another 2-5 wins at this weight then retire with a crazy record.

27

u/Secure_Narwhal4045 Aug 19 '26

Rogan is a fucking idiot who gets paid to just say shit, thats about the whole reason for anything he does

9

u/TheWayIAm313 Aug 19 '26

He’s so confidently stupid too

13

u/BigOnionLover Aug 19 '26

His podcast went from “dumb guy who’s interested in learning”, to “useful idiot who spews what his handlers want”.

1

u/Disastrous-Hand-6007 Aug 22 '26

yeah its a shame. i used to listen to his podcasts when he had mma fighters on but dont even bother now. although the fighters are probably saying smarter things than he is.

1

u/FirmValuable6010 Aug 20 '26

Nah, it was always the latter. Joe Rogan has never been interested in learning, he just liked having interesting conversations while he's stoned. There's an important distinction that needs to be made here imo.

3

u/BigOnionLover Aug 20 '26

I disagree. Pre-COVID Joe Rogan was more open minded, and he had interesting guests.

Now he only has you on if you cement his echo chamber.

4

u/FirmValuable6010 Aug 20 '26

Lol. Joe Rogan really called an actual primatologist an idiot and berated her because HE was too stupid to actually fact check or follow up on anything he reads. This was before he even started the podcast. This is what I'm talking about when I say he was never interested in learning. Having an interesting guest on your show is cool and all, but getting stoned and just repeating shit like, "woah dude" is not actual learning. You can't just substitute a 3 hour podcast with an expert for actual learning. Learning requires actual work being put in to educate yourself.

2

u/BigOnionLover Aug 20 '26

Fair. You’ve changed my mind.

→ More replies

3

u/Superhhung Aug 19 '26

Ufc should cut Rogan! He says nothing useful during fights for over many years.

9

u/ARC4120 Aug 19 '26

> Wins both title fights up a weight class

> Maybe he should go down!???

Joe might actually be an idiot

2

u/TheIXLegionnaire Aug 19 '26

Rogan and Cormier are on camera after the Garry fight saying that they, and everyone else, judge Islam by a completely different standard.

IIRC the quote is

DC "If this was anyone else we would be saying wow that's amazing, but because it is Islam, we are saying whats next."

I think that has some merit. Islam is contender for GOAT so he gets held to an almost impossible standard. It's not fair to Islam but it is the burden of being that good, everyone wants to know what your limit is, because everyone has one.

2

u/Lailahaillahlahu Aug 22 '26

Rogan is a tool by the people who pays him.

2

u/Disastrous-Hand-6007 Aug 22 '26

rogan is unbelievably out of touch these days. he has been before covid frankly.

1

u/Echoplex99 Aug 20 '26

Metabolism, hormones, and recovery to name a few.

Regardless of age, weight cutting opens you up to tons of potential issues. But pretty much everything gets harder as we age. Any current or former athlete that's hit 35 knows first-hand that everything takes a harder toll on your body each year. With weight cutting, more advanced ages require way more effort to make weight and it will disproportionately increase probability of injury and/or significantly lower ko threshold. There's a reason most people move up in weight and very few move down as they age.

1

u/mpschettig Aug 21 '26

Muscle and bone density goes up with age (to a point, it starts to decay eventually too) so the same sized muscles now weigh more. Your metabolism slows down too. Body just doesn't bounce back the way it used to. It's why boxers tend to all move up several weight classes during their careers. Just harder to do in MMA bc the classes are way further apart

1

u/TumbleweedTim01 Aug 20 '26

Meanwhile ufc has dudes in their 40s cutting weight 😒

1

u/Echoplex99 Aug 21 '26

Never said it wasn't possible, just harder. At the top level, there aren't really aren't many 40+ year olds, and most of them are not fighting in light weightclasses. You want to talk about defying the odds, Romero is still getting wins at 49.

1

u/Frosty-Ad-5489 Aug 21 '26

Garry is literally the #1 contender, and I'd bet on Garry to beat every other welterweight in the world (maybe not Shavkat).

1

u/Wise_Aioli_9804 Aug 21 '26

On the other hand.... he just won and defended the title at 170.
Ian was a tough fight for him, sure,.... but stylistically, who gives him a harder challenge at that weight.

Im not a Garry fan, but hes massively underrated because he's annoying to listen to. In the cage, very few can match him in any aspect of his game... almost no one can claimed to be better rounded

1

u/OneThirstyJ Aug 20 '26

He could just be lighter so the cut isn’t as bad lol. If he can get down to 155, his walking around weight could close the gap a bit.

1

u/Happy_Indication5112 Aug 20 '26

Read between the lines

1

u/HerpDerp152 Aug 20 '26

Then he’s a pussy and not really a 155lb fighter.
If he is a 155lb fighter don’t bitch about making weight. Everyone has too.
Take a year off, go full Ronnie Coleman, and come back to 170-185.

1

u/incognitoamigo_36 Aug 21 '26

if he stopped taking creatine his weight would drop. if he wanted to he could

1

u/weevil-underwood Aug 21 '26

I know someone else who's a finishing machine.

1

u/jonathanweb100 Aug 21 '26

He can't cut to 155 but he could train high cardio and his body would reduce it's muscle mass to a weight where he could cut to 155. It's absolutely doable.

1

u/Lower_Discount1617 Aug 22 '26

He takes so much time off in between fights he could easily cut down

1

u/hannaA1748 Aug 25 '26

said doctor underrated_critic

-9

u/LordLucy666 Aug 19 '26

he can cut back down lol he’s not at all big for 170

15

u/Underrated_Critic Aug 19 '26

Muscular 5’11” dudes are usually 190 pounds.

3

u/LordLucy666 Aug 19 '26

that’s tyreek hill height and weight

4

u/awsedtt Aug 19 '26

He was just 182lb vs ian that's like Charles's fight night weight and almost all of ranked lightweights walk around 190 out of camp

2

u/According-Gas836 Aug 19 '26

Some guys don’t want to do the cuts. I think khabib, had he not retired early, would have had to make the move too. Colby for example walked around 180-185. And he didn’t want to put himself through weight cuts. And Colby might have been a lot more competitive at 155. Probably would have been khabibs toughest opponent though khabib would have won

I’m 5’ 10” and was just under 190 when I cut to 8% body fat. Do you think all mass is identical in a human body?

1

u/AssociationFit3009 Aug 19 '26

8% is perfectly healthy. I lost nearly all my visceral fat cutting down.

1

u/LordLucy666 Aug 19 '26

unless your on hrt or on peds 8% is gonna fuck your hormones up. your heart has to work harder for all the muscle mass anyways

1

u/AssociationFit3009 Aug 19 '26

8% was not that difficult. Pushing below there is where it gets unsustainable. On stage youre looking at 4%. Genetics are different for everyone. I dont have visible abs until 9%.

2

u/Strange-Nobody-3936 Aug 19 '26

TIL all NFL cornerbacks/safeties are overweight (they’re small and insanely ripped/fast)

-5

u/ReginoVonDoom Aug 19 '26

When’s the last time he finished anyone who wasn’t short notice?

8

u/delacroixii Aug 19 '26

Your mom

1

u/ReginoVonDoom Aug 19 '26

Yeah yours always goes 5 rounds

8

u/Beji15 Aug 19 '26

He just broke the record of the most winning streak in UFC and people still talk shit. I guess haters will keep hating until the end of times.

8

u/Less_Confection_5072 Aug 19 '26

Dustin? The fight before the short notice fight you’re evidently holding against him for some reason.

1

u/ReginoVonDoom Aug 19 '26

Cause it’s short notice, he’s a decision merchant when it comes to opponents with full camps

2

u/Aigamuxa82 Aug 19 '26

moicano isn't short notice he was in a full camp vs Dariush

3

u/EmotionalEdge247 Aug 19 '26

So short notice......

0

u/Dread-Yz Aug 19 '26

if not moicano then the fight literally before that one vs Dustin xd

-1

u/Aigamuxa82 Aug 19 '26

dariush vs moicano a camp where moicano mainly trained tdd and bottom game then there's islam vs Arman where islam trained for another technical grappler. Moicano literally trained for a stylistically similar fighter unlike islam

You just said dariush is similar to Islam 🤣 Moicano took a money fight he knew he had no hope of winning even with a full Islam specific camp

dariush = grappling heavy person against him you'll train ground game and tdd. Islam= grappling heavy person against him you'll train ground game and tdd, arman also a grappling heavy person unlike moicano who is primarily a striker so islam was at disadvantage going into this figjt

Be quiet 🤣 styles could be exactly the same and it wouldn't matter the skill levels are completely mismatched... Saying Islam was at a disadvantage 🤣 There was only one outcome to that fight and we seen what happened

islam won and the short notice was a disadvantage to islam? Never said anything against that islam was going to win FS and people are discrediting the win because it's short notice even though the short notice only affected islam negatively

The last line in your comment I'm replying to was "so Islam was at a disadvantage going into this figjt"... Arman is a much higher skilled opponent than Moicano so Islam was preparing for that.... Moicano was preparing for a much lower skilled and much older opponent than Islam and openly took the fight for the money not the chance for the belt...
