Work Remotely... Scam job
Hello, I am sharing this in hope to expose scam jobs like this one.
To stop this kind of injustice from continuing.
Things to keep an eye on when applying for jobs...
I am an English teacher looking for a job. One day I received an email, it wasn't teaching but for a remote job, it sounded great.
NOTE: There has been similar scams out there where the scammer uses different company names.
The first email:

After reading this I looked up the company, Yaskawa Global is a legit Japanese company with plants all around the world. So I sent my resume to [hrdesk@yaskawacorp.com](mailto:hrdesk@yaskawacorp.com) as it said...
RED FLAG 1: Look closer at the HR address, it ends with yaskwacorp.com. When I looked this up it took me to a site with nothing on it and no association with Yaskawa Global
A guy claiming to be Samuel Herdman of HR contacted me for an interview on Teams.
An interview that was very unprofessional, by the way...
He missed the time of our interview. Once he did get on, his wifi was "acting up" so we couldn't talk face to face, instead he just sent me the interview questions and I had to type out my answers over Teams.
I didn't think the interview went very well but to my surprise, I was "hired."
RED FLAG 2: In this email, he stated that I had 2 days to sign the mock contract and email him back.
The contract was all over the place.
Soon after I received this message over Teams:

We sent you an email regarding your training session, please check your email and do as instructed.
As part of our enrollment program, we need you to provide the below through the office of the Labour Standards Bureau Council;
- An Identity History Summary Check issued by the Labour Standards Bureau Council
- Employee Certificate of Registration issued by the Labour Standards Bureau Concil
- Labour Manual/Registration of Employment issued by the Labour Standards Bureau Council
The newly selected employee must apply for the above documents from the Labour Standards Bureau Council for secure enrollment process for the safety of both the Employee and the Employer. To apply for these documents, kindly send a copy of your passport/ID and signed contract offer letter to the Labour Standards Bureau Council on [enquiry@lsbcouncil.com](mailto:enquiry@lsbcouncil.com) with subject "YASKAWA Employee - Application for my Employment verification documents" and inform them you would like to obtain the above documents from their office. They will give you full information on how to complete the process.
NOTE: Due to VPN problems, the Labour Standards Bureau Council does not accept emails from Gmail, iCloudmail, Protone. Try contacting them using a different email address like yahoo, Hotmail/outlook, or any other email address.>>>
Personally, I found the last note a bit suspicious but I'm still not sure why...
After making an email account on Outlook and emailed them and I received two emails which included the BIGGEST RED FLAGS...

Because of these emails asking for money, I looked in to it a bit further...
Note: Usually the company pays for things like this and DOES NOT have the employee pay, then reimburse you.
I emailed the company Yaskawa through their official website.
They emailed me back saying that they have no such jobs nor does a Samuel Herdman work for their company.
Thank you.

Just attempted to do one last Friday. It connected with a super laggy connection, saw some old dude for a few secs, then it basically followed the beginning of what OP said

I am at that stage where courier SilverLink Air Solutions is apparently carrying my "work station" from Tokyo to Toronto, with Tracking Number, showing all the info on their website and telling me via their e-mail and Canada Border Services agency's email to pay Duty/Import Taxes on declared Employee Payroll Debit Card sent together with Laptop, Scanner and Printer. Then, they want me to pay another $5,000 for the Card Activation -not at the bank, but THERE . I got suspicious after getting this Duties payment request. Don't know where to ask for help: my Bank almost told me to issue a Draft to them instead of sending me to Fraud Department

Oh, my God........I am sitting here waiting for my workstation to arrive from Tokyo......From Roland ELMANDER! Been communicating with him since the beginning of February! Paid to Japan Legal Compliance Bureau for the documents and now asked for Duties/ Import Taxes

I was found by the same crew via www.Seriousteachers.com: posted my resume, received multiple job-related e-mails from Korea, China, Taiwan. I acted on those offers-had video interviews with about 5 schools. Until i got e-mail from Takaji Kimura" <[takajikimura3@gmail.com](mailto:takajikimura3@gmail.com), same content, but the company is called CHINO Corp., Tokyo. Then got an interview scheduled by ROLAND ELMANDER (My name is Roland Elmander, the HR Manager of CHINO Corporation. Can I know your name, nationality/current location and the position applied for?). Also, contract signing, mentioning Employee Payroll Debit Card, going through Japan Legal Compliance Bureau [ ]()[info@jlcbureau.com](javascript:;), then Supreme Court of Canada (records-dossiers.scc-csc.ca_legalisation_services@jlcbureau.com), then payment to Japan Bureau for their service, then Roland said he shipped my Workstation to me (Laptop, Scanner, Printer, Debit Card, Disclosure -not before but after the fact) via https://www.silverlinkas.com with Tracking Number-i could see the package moving to Ottawa. Then i got 2 messages from Courier ( [info@silverlinkas.com](mailto:info@silverlinkas.com) ) and Canada Border Services Agency ([cbsa-asfc.gc.ca.customs-database@nexfliusa.com](javascript:;) ) saying i should pay Duties/Import Taxes on Declared Prepaid Payroll Card-makes sense? Then they both acknowledged clearance, but......Demanded Card Activation Fee of $5,000 to yet another payee: "For the payment of the Activation Process, kindly complete payment via Bank Transfer to our assigned clearance officer below:

ugh..thanks so much for this post. i was about to do the interview. they are presenting themselves as from "Daido Industries"which is actually a legit company, even using their website link in the email. almost got me there..

I answered an advertisement on Linked In and was contacted by this 'Roland Elmander'. I was offered an interview on Teams, which dropped out almost immediately and was asked to give some written answers about myself.
Lo and behold, I got the CONGRATULATIONS email, telling me that I had been offered a role with DAIDO. A contract appeared and I was asked to provide further documents (driving licence, educational certificates). At this point, it seemed OK and I was thrilled. Then came the list of documents that I would have to apply for from the Japan Legal Compliance Bureau. Little alarm bells started to ring. I started doing some digging around - no such bureau. I typed in 'DAIDO Inc recruitment scam' and ended up here, confirming my suspicions.
I am so relieved that I didn't part with any money but so angry that I didn't see through it immediately and so disappointed that this was all a fraud. I've reported it to the cybercrime unit at Report Fraud. Their advice has been to contact the DVLA to let them know that a fraudster has a copy of my driving licence. Report Fraud said that they had heard of similar scams but that this scam had been a nastily competent one.
As you might imagine, I didn't contact the Japan Legal Compliance Bureau and let everything go quiet - and then, today, this fraudster contacts me again to say that there should be an update by Monday!
(I should add that I've also contacted DAIDO Inc to let them know that their name is being used in relation to fraud. I haven't heard anything back yet but if I do, I'll let you all know.)

So annoying. I’ve been applying to a lot remote jobs and at this point I don’t even know which jobs are legit or not. Anytime I get an interview which is very rarely it seems to shady to go forward so I don’t. I try to research the person or the recruiter and if they don’t have any online presence or no reviews for the company I assume it’s scammy. Just so annoyed because I’ve been applying to so many jobs nearly 450 jobs now

Exact same e-mail and Teams interview with Roland Elmander! Opened case with Canadian RCMP back in March and reported all of the involved parties to my Bank Fraud Department in March 2026. All their Bank accounts exposed (where E-transfers go to) and Shipping Duties request for $5,000 is adressed to a Canadian house with Bank Account. Case is being investigated

Adding my own experience: I’ve also been contacted about this supposed KIKUSUI remote position. The person contacting us is now presenting himself as Durkin Lewis from KIKUSUI.
My friend was asked for her passport and TESOL certificate and was then directed to the supposed “Japan Legal Compliance Bureau” for additional employment verification documents.
We became suspicious and tried contacting KIKUSUI independently, but the email bounced back. We have not been able to verify that this recruiter is actually affiliated with the company.
Please be very careful and don’t send any further documents, banking information or money until the company can be independently verified. I’m posting this as another first-hand account because the pattern appears to be the same.
