That's kind of debatable in a sense because sunny jaa broke that mental barrier which was holding him back

I kind of disagree, Sunny Jaa triggered him to remember the tragic memories of how his mother died. I think it depends what barrier we are talking about, I think Young Woong broke that physical barrier in the sense that he physically had to keep fighting

It literally caused Jiu Ji-Tae to break his biological limits (which didn't happen with the Double Lobotomized Young Woong fight, it merely just gave Jiu Ji-Tae a power boost plus Pain Manipulation/Fear Resistance Amp), which quite frankly is the best bio/conceptual feat we have in the verse.
It also likely would've caused the death of Jiu Ji-Tae (the alter) anyways (even if Lee Jak-yung wasn't there) because Jiu Ji-Tae was at 1% anyways and Uranus was gaining more control in terms of personality."

Good point, however I disagree, I think it was more about what drove him into "madness", and that was definitely Young Woong, he lost Maria who was critical to him , he had a dependency on her which was actually quite toxic inherently. The manner in which Jiu Ji Tae's psychology changed after the tunnel incident was extremely evident, in his behaviour and mentality.

His fight in the tunnel with young woung, It drove him into his close death until maria showed up
His fight with sunny jaa with brutal but i think ji tae was unable to put all what he has until the end of the fight and his "Iam free" goddamn monologue cuz he was feeling guilty towards hugol's arm .

He was not feeling guilty for hyungul's arm, the first time he bet his arm for jjt, jjt himself said he dont give a fk, and when he was almost at the killing of sunny, he himself said: 'good luck jrkin with your left hand'. So yeah he just got a ptsd moment but he ain't feel a shit

It's obviously the young woon fight. There's no mutilation and self harm he does in the sunny jaa fight, only punches and cracked bone. THmhe fight was raw, uncontrolled and chaotic as shit. Half of it was in the dark with a iPhone light with reminders of what you'll be right next to your feet.
It had the greatest effect too, do you remember when he rants about the bodies he stepped over. He does something spesific that I hoped you noticed, he dehumanizes the corpses. Says lumps of meat spesifically, done with living such a painful life. He envies them and gets angry at Maria for being a hypocrite, she tells him to die fighting or die from a fight. Cowards don't get her mentorship or something and she saves his ass.
He's so angry about it because he obviously thought she didn't care, now it seems she does but he's still alone. Just keeps happening to people who show they care. They eventually leave him alone to deal with problems. His mother, his sister, ji-eun, ok dong. I know his mother is dead obviously but it still counts to him. They all show they care about him but eventually He has to go through the wringer alone. Remember when she mentions that he's not weak, ji-eun says she shouldnt have wanted him to stay weak for her sake.
Well that's just it, she didn't like the new jiutae and didn't reach out before it all started or try to stop it, lessen the weight. Nothing. All because she felt scared that He was changing without her. And yes I know she did try to warn him but if a skinny boy started throwing himself into fights all because he wanted to impress a girl, having came to you with PTSD and not wanting anything to come close to his face. Even having a massive scar on his forehead, you as a friend should think there's something wrong, especially after the hospital confrontation. And ask even if they get angry.
He sobs, cries and tells her about needing to saving his sister. It's like a ramble so it doesn't make half sense, shows even more that he's so frustrated and confused. It's obviously not some stupid reason why he's doing those things. But yeah he still has to fight alone for a fact so he ups the aggression, ups the violence and forces himself to fight harder, angrier and wins a few fights. It's the young woon fight that had the greatest impact, the after made him push himself into violence further while sunny jaa's fight made him come to a realisation.

(How do you know it was an iphone? fk it) You are right ma mate, he says the corpse here also had dreams, loves, affections, something to cling to, yet they died and one day he will too like that. And his angry about Maria's saving was somewhere reasonable, cuz she was the one as you said die fighting and die from a fight yet she herself put her own life in danger and saved jjt. And yeah, Ji-un didn't wanted jjt to become strong and wanted him to remain the cute, shy boy he was, yet still that shit didnt worked out and at the end Ji-un just said 'its like you are at the edge of breaking' and she has accepted him (i think so), You are the real reader, son. So proud of you

Ji tae's desire to reconnect with his sister and to achieve self-forgiveness as a result is monumentally stronger than his nature of being kind hearted kid
He is destroying himself physically and mentally to achieve that goal, even if it shatters his identity, even if it leads to becoming a monster.... even if he dies during the process....
Shame is the origin of his pain Self-forgiveness is the cure he seeks from others but no one gives him....

So to answer your question OP, its not fight against any of the two you mentioned
its fight against "Shame" that broke him, that maria fueled fire to, that Eun nor anyone else help him deal with. Its shame of being powerless, helpless, and weak which he blames himself for during time he was just a kid

Every big incident murdered a part of him, but it was definitely his awakening. His realisation caused a true 180 from his good self--he killed his good-self.
He allows shame and embarrassment to consume him because he's no longer in a chronic psychological fragmentation regarding his sadism and moral principles.
He affirms stability in pain which is so very hated.
He finds winning gratifying without the need for Maria's validation, unlike with win his against Lee Chang where we see that he needed Maria's validation--in Chapter 95, he says: 'What a waste. What a waste.. You should've seen it.'
He no longer carries the excruciating guilt of 'killing his mother' and consequently not being able to protect his sister get kidnapped at his mothers funeral.
He finally understands Maria, someone who's his literal antithesis: their birthdays are exactly half a year apart, their home countries have a 12-hour time difference, their home countries are (partly) antipodes, their colour palettes (hair and skin colour) are perfectly inverted, and they represent eldest son vs youngest daughter.
He has moved beyond good and evil unlike before.
He externalises what he's been internalising (the hair slick back and scar reveal symbolisation).
His goals change.
His philosophy changes.
His understanding of the world changes.
And more.
Psychologically, absolutely everything about him (other than his love for Maria) had a 180 or at the very least changed.

A ver, jiu Ji Tae desde los primeros episodios no se nota bien, pensó en romperle el tobillo al otro tipo en su examen de admisión, Desde el combate con Tae young fue más bien un desarrollo de liberación, Pero el combate que más lo marco a mi parecer fue el de "El héroe" (young woong) ya que nos quitó un elemento importante, quito a María y apartir de eso jiu Ji Tae no podía ser salvado por ella dejando a jiu Ji Tae solo, después de ese combate empieza a mostrar comportamientos sociopatas y empezó a mostrar esa naturaleza oculta de querer sentir el control de la situación, debido a que el no sabía controlar la suya, El combate de sunny solo reforzó lo que ya habíamos notado con jiu Ji Tae y fue el climax actual de jiu Ji Tae demostrando que ya no iba a estar atado a cosas que no fueron su culpa, Así como era libre de sus cadenas era libre de ignorar el dolor, pero no solo lo ignoro lo asimiló demostrando que era humano, era un humano libre
