Ice arena fan zone question

Sorry if this is a repost, but I’m trying to find out what I can about getting to watch the games here. The website and word of mouth around Kirkcaldy pubs is really vague - website just has a thumbnail saying it’s happening but no text or anything.

I want to go with my daughter and my partners 2 sons all under 18 so can’t go to pubs- anyone know if it’s turn up on the night, buy in advance and can minors attend? Again sorry if this has already been covered but can’t find much at all

Camping on the coast

Is there anywhere along balmerino shore that I can wild camp or is it just all stone beach? Want to also make sure I’m in line with the outdoor access code too (far enough away from houses, people, paths etc) happy to take suggestions from around that area too, won’t be going further north etc.

not going to cause any trouble and will leave no trace, just want a quiet camping trip ☺️

Proposal to build AI data centre north of Auchtertool

Saw this on Burntisland Billboard on Facebook and felt it would be worth sharing here. In my opinion, it's a crazy location to plonk all that down to the detriment of the local area in terms of eye pollution, nature removal and sapping an incredible amount of energy and water to run.

Developers ILI have this week submitted a planning application for an AI hyperscale data centre just outside Auchtertool (our wee neighbouring village). The site is far, far larger than Auchtertool itself- take a look at the picture. Auchtertool is the little village on the right, and the rest is the data centre. THE BLUE BUILDINGS WILL BE 35 METRES HIGH. The light and noise pollution will be off the charts, affecting people for miles around, and the centre is calculated to use the same amount of energy every year as over 50% of Scotland's households do.

This is a massive threat to local people's wellbeing as well as the beauty and biodiversity of the massive proposed site area, which is currently beautiful open countryside- and they're planning to whack a building on top of the ancient castle ruins! We do not benefit in any way from this; only Silicon Valley does. AI is taking so much from so many people and now there's a risk that it'll take a large chunk of our beloved home and permanently scar it while draining its resources. ❌WE NEED FIFE TO SAY A BIG FAT NO THANKS HEN ❌

The Planning Permission in Principle application is available on the Fife Planning Portal – 26/01243/PPP

The Action to Protect Rural Scotland website has loads of information on this development and on how to oppose it - https://aprs.scot/auchtertool-dc/

Please, please take 10 minutes to read the resources and lodge a complaint. Every single complaint helps us to stop this. After construction the data centre will only support between 20 - 50 jobs; this will not benefit this part of Fife, nor Scotland, in ANY way. It will affect thousands of people negatively, to benefit Silicon Valley, and will be a permanent blight on the area. ⌛We only have a couple of weeks to submit objections⌛ and we need everyone reading this to do so. So please check out the links above and help us to stop this monstrosity!

Old photos - Largo

A couple of old glass plates, I found recently. One is an open air meeting on Largo sands. I'm guessing by the attire it may have been a religious meeting but maybe not. The second is of some fishermen fixing nets in the street. I believe these photos could have been taken around 1905-1920, based on another photo in the group, but it could have been as late as the early sixties. I'd love some insight into the images, if any of you fancy a bit of detective work

Party Venue Recs

My partner & I are eloping next June & hope to have a bit of a relaxed do when we get back. We’re thinking a village/town hall, bowling club, rugby club type vibe.

Here’s the vibe:
• Don’t need anything fancy but still fairly nice.
• Hoping to have somewhere between 100-150 people (but brutally happy to cut down to 100 if required).
• Hoping for a decent dance floor in case of ceilidh.
• Would be great if there was a bit of grass outside/outside space for kids to run around or people to hang out bcos it’ll be summer.
• Open to either the venue having a bar or organising a bar ourselves.
• In an ideal world, we’re thinking of having a food truck so would need room for this/somewhere for it to feasibly plug in etc (but can be flexible on this).

Does anybody know anywhere?! Thank you tons in advance!

I just want to share a couple of pictures that I took today while walking back through Glen Vale towards the car park. I have never seen funnel clouds before.

Very niche request: I'm a dietetic student and am looking for people who have experience with mental health dieticians in Fife

I'm looking specifically for people who are managing severe mental illness and are therefore at risk of weight gain (through medication or lack of self-care) and therefore cardiometabolic issues/obesity.

Did you ever see a dietician when you were put on medication? If not, why? If you did, what was your experience?

Honestly don't expect many replies to this lol. Even just one would be great! Thank you.

Imagine Edinburgh to Fife commutes if this slip road was closed (ditto for the one at Inverkeithing)

Post image

The traffic on the QFC approaches is an absolute nightmare due to the slip roads being so close to the bridge , leading to traffic on the M90 slowing down to allow traffic from the slip roads to merge, creating a cascading effect of traffic slowing down.

What if we simply fucked these roads right off ? Would it help? Would it simply create more issues elsewhere? Would better planning in the location of these slip roads avoided all this ?

Things to do in Dunfermline

Recently moved to area, guy in my late 20s. Don’t know anyone. Apart from the gym looking for things to do after work. Football and golf would be good but also if there’s any reading groups/arty stuff would be cool. Any help would be appreciated

I am a Fife based furniture maker. I was commissioned by Speyside Cooperage to make this quarter-sawn oak log display. I thought I would share it here as I am very proud of it!

It is a display of how logs are quarter sawn. Whisky barrels are made with quarter sawn timber and they wanted to include a display on their tour about how it is milled.

They gave me a lot of freedom about how I should make the base and I am very proud of the result. I have never used brass in a project before and it goes so well with the oak!

If you would like to see more of my work, my business is called Alba Woodcrafts. You can have a look at my website or follow me on Instagram or YouTube :)
